Wednesday Worthy Goes To The Dogs

I lost the picture I originally intended to post (don’t ask-yesterday was just one of those days–I can’t find that sucker anywhere). So instead, I’m going to post this guy:

Corky's officioal photo

This is CPA Boy and Special K’s new dog, Corky.  To my great sadness, I still haven’t gone out and met him in person. I hear he’s super sweet, possibly not the smartest dog ever, but calm and sweet.  Meeting him will be my reward once I turn in this book and get everything else on my desk done.

So…what do you think, is Corky Worthy? By the way, this is his “official” photo sent to my by Special K. She cracks me up, she actually called it his official photo.

Weekend Roundup

Oldest son came to spend Sunday (Father’s Day) with us to  hang out, eat Mom’s cooking and swim. We had a blast. Unfortunately the other two boys had to work, but we’ll see them in two weeks when we have Middle’s college  graduation party here.

Oldest is a CPA and we were going over some financial stuff and having some business discussions when he said, “I should read The Plus Once Chronicles.”

To which I said, “No.”

Stunned, he’s like, “Why not?” (His a big reader when he has the time, and we often read the same books.)

I explained. “You’re not old enough.”

“Really?” He raised an eyebrow at me just like Wizard does.  “And when will I be old enough?”

“When I’m dead.”

After laughing at me, he said, “How bad can it be?”

“Let me put it this way, I tagged it as Erotic Romance.”

The face he made? PRICELESS.  I laughed at him and changed my attitude. “Go ahead, read it. I dare you.”

Oldest decided to go to talk to his dad for a while. Seriously, when will these boys learn that Mom always knows best?

So how was your weekend?

Have You Heard of Scrabble Scramble?

I want to give you all a heads up about a really cool game/contest that is called Scrabble Scramble and is sponsored by Book Monster Reviews and LITERAL ADDICTION.

You can go to either of those sites to learn more about the game. Now as to how I’m involved–on Sunday, November 13th, one of the clues will appear here on my blog. Then it will stay here until November 20th.  So for that week, I’ll be leaving that clue up.

There are two sets of cool prizes.  Hop over and read more here and join in the fun!

I’m not sure if I’ll keep blogging beneath the clue or what.  Do you guys have a preference?

Reading

Wow, getting dragged into a new story and new world is exhausting! Plus I have this tiny piece of news about the Wing Slayer Series, but I don’t have enough info to share it yet.

So moving on…

I’ve just started Michelle Rowen’s NIGHTSHADE.  I’m not too far into it yet, but I’m enjoying it.  I’m trying to read new-to-me authors.

So that’s what I’m doing, how about you?

Weekend Roundup

Saturday was awesome! I went to my local RWA Chapter meeting. Got to sign NIGHT MAGIC and chat with readers.  One lady bought the book for her mom, her 89 year old mom who loves hot, sexy paranromals.

How cool is that?

And Leanne Banks gave a brainstorming talk. I hung out with Laura Wright and had the pleasure of meeting Wendy, a FB friend, in person. Just a fun day.

But Sunday–ugh. Wizard had a fun day planned with his friends and that was canceled by rain. I was stuck home writing blogs–and I could not figure out a Murder She Writes blog. Wizard felt sorry for me and took me to see THOR.

But we got to the theater and found out the projection machine broke and the movie was cancelled. I was so freaking bummed.

We came home and I forced out the blog. You really don’t want to read it.  Just one of those days.

But I am sure today will be better!

How was your weekend?

Stressed? Me?

Normally I’m not paranoid, but lately,  this picture keeps popping up in my inbox…

dog writer

And I’m starting to think this dog is after my job.  This dog thinks he can write better books than me! This stress got to me and I sent this picture back to the upstart pooch…

Dog do ya feel lucky

Now I’m getting court ordered treatment for anger management. Meet my therapist…

Just another day in my life…

Dear Jen Lyon

Someone thought it would be a good idea to let that cranky witch, Jen Lyon, answer letters again.  Sigh…

Letter Number One

anilion1

Dear Lyon,

Where do you keep all those men whose pictures you post on the blog? Just curious!

 Sincerely,

Inquiring Libido

Dear Inquiring Libido,

I have my eye on you! I know what you’re after, but better witches than you have tried to steal my men! Okay, sure, Mel and Silver might have conspired to get me a little tipsy and “borrowed” a couple men while I was sipping an appletini or five, but I got them back…eventually.

 Wait, what was the question?

Oh, anyway, the men are all kept deep in my Lyon’s Lair where they can’t escape…uh, I mean come to any harm!

Drat, where is that cowboy with my appletini?

 Roaringly yours,

Jen Lyon

Letter Number Two

flying-monkey-hat Dear Lyon,

I have a great idea for a book! I’d be willing to split the millions of dollars we’d make on this idea if you write the book. I know we’d make a great team! Let me know when you want to get started!

 Sincerely,

Lazy A. Dreamer

 Dear Lazy A. Dreamer,

Thank you so much for your letter. I laughed so hard, I coughed up a hairball. Then I had to brew up a batch of appletinis (shaken, not stirred) just to answer this. So draw up a chair and listen carefully: Unless you are famous or infamous, or you have slept with someone famous or infamous, no one is going to pay you millions in publishing.

Maybe you should catch the next broom stick back to reality.

Seriously, where is that cowboy with my appletini!

Roaringly yours,

Jen Lyon
