Wine, Witches and Vamps…

vampire-wine-bottleDid you know there are Vampire Wines?

I didn’t know that. How did I live this long without finding out? Do you want ot know how I found out? Do you suppose I was down in a cellar with a really hot vampire who was overcome with lust for me?

Nope! But I do have this friend, Laura Wright, who just sold an awesome vampire series to NAL. Remember this name–Laura Wright–she’s going to be the Next Big Thing in paranormal! And we’ll have her here on the blog when her first vampire book comes out witches-falls-2005_granitebelt_pinotnoir1(Laura has written several Silhouette Desires).

So anyone, we were celebrating her sale this weekend and I thought I’d get her something. So I asked a wine master of the store I was at,  and she said  that there actually Vampire Wines.

I was so excited! Then I found out that the store I was at was out of the Vampire Wine. Bummer. I got her another bottle of wine named EVIL.  But dang, that’ll teach me to wait until the last minute!

I just did a quick Google and found Witches Falls Winery  but the label is a little sedate, don’t you think? It’s not really celebrating witches in all their magical glory. Anyway…

Am I the only one who didn’t know vampires and witches are out there fermenting grapes? And which wine would you pick, judging on the label?  Oh, and how was your weekend?

And P.S. to Margaret:  I bought a Jim Butcher book this weekend! Finally!

Congratulations, Laura! Evil sounds like a great wine to celebrate a paranormal sale.

The Vampire wine has a snazzier label, but for some reason, I’m guessing the Witches Falls would taste better.

Have fun reading the Jim Butcher. I’ve only read his Dresden novels, but they’re a blast.

Crud. I completely forgot. I used Blood Magic for my Sunday Book Review. Great novel, Jen. I can’t wait for Soul Magic. =o)

    Dresden rocks!

I have two wines in the “cellar” right now – Il Bastardo and Royal Bitch. I’m almost afraid to drink them! LOl. I’ll definitely have to watch for Vampire wine (do you suppose it’s juice from blood oranges in it?) and the witches brew! Who knew?!?

And congrats to Laura Wright! I’ll definitely put her on my watch list!

B.E., Laura’s new series rocks! It’s dark, emotional and sexy.

You’re probably right on the wines, but I’d still try the vampire one as I just like the label :-)

THANKS on the review! It’s awesome! I’m heading over there to comment when I’m finished here!

Silver, I’m excited to start reading the Dresden books.I’m sooo behind on this!

I love your Bastardo and Royal Bitch wines! Hmm…that should be my new hobby to collect fun wines. But I would drink them!

I’m not sure we want to know what the vamp wines are actually made from.

I don’t know about next big thing – but that Evil wine ROCKED!! It had a really cool bite to it, and I’m not kidding!
Thanks for mentioning me, Jen – although you are a little bias since you were literally my left hand in the project. (the woman read my pages 7,000 times. seriously)
Course, I was the first person to fall in love Axel, so…we’re even..ish?

Laura, who is off to drink more wine.

Nope, you’re not alone – I had no idea, thought all the ‘vampires’ drank absynthe ;)
Yeah, Butcher’s on my radar but not before I read the other 50 or so books on my TBR list. BTW, thanks to our common blog gal pals I just came home with Blood Magic !

I had no idea, but the wines do not surprise me. I have a bottle of Norma Jean Merlot “a young Merlot” in my cabinet. They have Marilyn Merlot, but it was a little bit pricier than the young merlot, so I went with that.

Congrats to Laura Wright! I will definitely keep my eye out for her book.

Laura, ROTFL!!! A cool bite to it! Too funny! How stupid was I not to buy one for myself?

I am not biased! I know how good this Vamp Series is. It’s true, I did watching it grow from a fledgling, but still…it rocks so much!

We’re always even, yes? You were there from the first idea about Axel way back in 2005. These books, like a good wine, take time to mature :-)

Erika, Norma Jean Merlot, that’s just priceless! I saw a few famous name wines when I was out hunting.

Not to worry, when Laura’s books start coming out, I’ll be pimping them here!

I love the wine titles! I just bought a bottle of wine–should have looked for the vampire one and evil one. I have also seen one titled Menage a Trois. lol But I didn’t buy it.

Laura’s books sound so interesting. And it’s great that you helped her out. I love friends.

My weekend was great! Our chapter meeting was this weekend and that’s always fun. But I had to play Madame pres because ours was gone. (2nd month in a row, I think its a conspiracy!) hehe

Have A LOT to do this week. Mainly, WRITE!

My hubby and I actually came across the Vampire wine right before Halloween. Its a very nice red wine, yes we drank the whole bottle. We then went and bought another bottle which now sits on a shelf :)

Kira, I saw the Menage a Trois too! I had way too much fun in the wine shop.

I was co-pres of OCC (Orange County Chapter) for two yeas so I know how much work it is! It’s even harder when you’re filling in.

Hope you get bunches of writing done!

Ban, how cool! Except I’llworry about whether you like the book or not :-)

Laura’s website is http://www.laurawright.com/ but it’s not updated for her her new paranormal, that was for her straight romances. But not to worry, I’ll keep you all up to date! She has a face book page, but I don’t have the address handy, I’ll get it.

I’ve seen Vamp wine, but haven’t bought wine in awhile. Hubster makes wine, so I always have a ready supply. Drinking an Italian Sangiovese right now. Love saying that word with an Italiano accent…san-gio-ve-se. Needless to say hubster hates it when I do that, so of course, I do it often.

Yay! I’m glad you got a Dresden book. Which one?? I think I love Blood Rites the best because the reader is introduced to Mouse. :-)

Remind us about Laura’s book a little closer to the release date. I have the CRS (can’t remember shit) syndrome. And yes, I stole the term from my friend Jody.

Margaret! A husband who makes wine…sigh! So cool!

The book I grabbedis STRORM FRONT, which I thoguht was a 2009, but now that I have my glasses on (over my contracts, can anyone say Old Witch?) I see it’s 2000 copyright date.

I will remind you about Laura and I’m going to steal CRS because it’s perfect!

I think Storm Front is his first Dresden book. He’s on #12 I think.
