Witch Wanted…Good Salary

Looking for a job? I saw this ad

Wookey Hole, famous for its beautiful limestone caves, is home to a family theme park. The company that manages the park wants to hire someone to play a witch and is willing to pay them £50,000 ($81,000) a year to cackle at visitors, teach courses in magic, and (here’s the catch) live in the caves.

spell-of-the-highlander-karen-marie-moningThe things I find on the Internet! Not sure I like the cackle stereotyping. Don’t they know that witches are smart, beautiful and powerful women? Sigh.

On Friday, I had to run into Wal Mart. i promised myself I would JUST buy the light bulbs I needed. I came out the WRONG light bulbs and  a book.  SPELL OF THE HIGHLANDER by Karen Marie Moning. I thought the title was familiar, so I looked at the copyright, it was 2009. Cool I bought it.

Sigh…I’ve already  read it. The was a second copyright that I didn’t see. I am, however, reading it again!

Sunday, I met my sister at Barnes and Nobles. I told myself, don’t buy any books. I have a deadline, yada, yada, yada. I walked out with two books, (Jim Butcher and Nalini Singh). But seriously, how can you do into a bookstore and not buy books?

And on on the wrong light bulbs? My husband shook his head, laughed, then took them back and got the right ones.

How was your weekend?

I always end up with more books than I intended ot buy when I go to B&N. :-) So I try to limit my buying to once a month or less.

My weekend was good – it was the best weather we had the entire vacation but alas … we went home yesterday so it was all bittersweet. Now, what I’m wondering is – are any of those books you got worth reading ? ’cause I don’t have enough to read yet :D

It is a brave woman who goes into Wal Mart for just one thing. ;) I haven’t read Karen Marie Morning yet, but I have so many new authors (to me) waiting in my TBR mountain that she could be in there somewhere.

My weekend was relaxing and quiet. I had the best intentions on Sunday of getting some writing done, but I had to make a phone call and started reading Girls Just Wanna Have Guns while I was on hold. Yeah, I got no writing done, but a LOT of reading. Oh well, what’s a girl to do?

I love Karen Marie Moning. I have the entire Highlander series as keepers. Wonderful!! Hot, sexy, alpha males…*sighs*

I went to our monthly chapter meeting and I gave the workshop on Query letters. Was my first workshop and it was fun. It 100+ degrees here, so took the kids to a museum Sunday. No way you can do anything outside.

    And still job hunting.

My weekend was okay except for the minor getting finger slammed in door. I finished one of two quilts that I’m working on and we had beautiful weather to sit out on the balony.

Margaret, how can we pass up books? Yesterday I was meeting my sister at the Starbucks inside B&N just to hang out. It’s where we usually meet. But of course–all those books are soooo seductive!

Ban, I hope you had a good vacation in spite of the spotty weather!

I really love Karen Marie Moning’s Highlander books. Nalini is always good! And I’m just getting into the Jim Butcher books, but I liked the first one very much.

Erika, I normally avoid Wal Mart! I happened to be right in the area, and I needed the stupid light bulbs. It was early in the morning so it wasn’t crowded yet.

Is that the second Bobbie Faye book? I have to get that (I have NO SELF CONTROL!)

Kira, that’s awesome about your Query Workshop! Was it taped?

I love Karen Marie Monings Highlander books. I read her first Fae book and it just didn’t grab me as much.

Dru, I cringed reading that about your finger! Is it okay? You could work on the quilt after slamming your finger in the car door?

Kira, forgot to say: I feel for you on the job hunting. There’s a chance I’ll be faced with that one day. I’ve come close several times. Good luck! I hope you find a job you enjoy.

I always seem to run into Wal-Mart for one or two things and come out with a book. Sometimes with the things I went in for and sometimes without.

This weekend I had some girl time, shopping, YAY! Finished Candace Havens book Charmed & Deadly and started The Accidental Demon Slayer by Angie Fox.

Amanda, I’ve done that too. Sigh. Books are a serious, but necessary, distraction.

Did you like the Candaca Havens book? I don’t think I’ve read her yet.

Always nice to have girl time!

Yes I am enjoying her books, that is the third in her Bronwyn the witch series. They are a very light read with a bit a humor in them.

It is the 2nd Bobbie Faye book. If it would help curb your book spending I could send it to you after I’m done. :D

Erika, thanks for the offer! But I tend to be hard on books, so I don’t want to chance something happening to your copy. I’d worry too much!

I still have 50 books in my TBR pile and I’m getting ready to get a cauldronfull here at RWA Nationals. I’m camped out at the Holiday Inn Express-Fairfax at the moment. If you want a brief rundown of my weekend, check Penumbra. ;)

Catch ya’ll with little updates during RWA! Appletinis on me!

Naw, it wasn’t taped. I’m still wondering how I ended up doing the Query workshop, since I’d only written 2 queries in my life. LOL But everyone said I did a good job, so I guess I’m good at winging it!

And I did get a job. Still working out the details, but the job hunt is over!!!! Thank God!!

I didn’t enjoy Karen’s Fae books. But she said upfront they weren’t romance…which is why I didn’t like them. :P

Erika, some people just have a natural knack for queries, and you are obviously one of them!

Speaking of which, have you sent your project out yet???

Congrats on the job! I know you still are working out details, but it’s great news!

I read Karen’s first Fae book and was frustrated. Another friend read it and loved it. We all have different tastes!
