Back To Work!

I had a great three day weekend and did no work! Today–all work and no more play!

We went to see The Time Traveler’s Wife.  I found it depressing.  Maybe the book was better.

I promised I let you all know what I thought of RED HEADED STEP CHILD by Jaye Wells.  I wasn’t sure at first; the heroine is an assassin, and she kills a friend in the opening scene. That was hard for me to get past, HOWEVER as I kept reading, I really did get caught up in the story.  While I started out with very little empathy for the heroine, I did eventually emotionally connect with her.

My two favorite things in the book: the demon who is addicted to infomercials and the hot,  sexy mage that shows up.

The writing is good. Toward the very end of the book are these two lines:  “His face was grim, but his eyes told the real tale.  Through them,  I could see his soul had aged.”  These lines were so perfect for the situation.

So my verdict is that I’d read her again.

How was your weekend? Did you guys do anything fun?

Sorry to hear about the depressing movie. I spent the weekend watching college football (My teams won. Yay!), reading, and finally getting some words on paper. Oh, and part of Saturday was spent making a blueberry cheesecake. It turned out really good, but it was a case of throwing things together, and now I can’t remember how much of things I put in. I hate when I do that.

Big Brother & Big Sisters is in the neighborhood tomorrow so I’ve only got one more day to deal but I’m going bonkers !! AAAAHHHHHHHH !!!

Friday night I took my husband to see Cruefest for his birthday, Godsmack stole the show they were awesome and Sully rocked the house.

Saturday was our monthly family breakfast almost didn’t get out of bed. The rest of the weekend was filled with Guitar Hero 5 and all my sons friends hanging out to play. Far from quite but all in all a nice holiday.

My weekend was relaxing. Divers pulled up a bell that’s been in the ocean for 98 years and I went to check it out.

I spent the weekend getting rained on. But I was in New Orleans. That was not a whine! I had a wonderful time, met some great folks, learned a bit, and got some nibbles on current and future projects. I’m so far behind on everything now and trying to play catch up. *headdesk* Coffee. I need more. No appletinis for this witch until I’m all caught up. *whine*

B.E. Blueberry cheesecake? Dang, my thighs are growing, but it sounds good! My husband and at least one son watched college football too.

    I’m already behind today!

Ban, sounds like your week is starting off stressful! You need an appletini :-) Hope you get caught up and things smooth out.

Dru, that sounds interesting! 98 years submerged in ocean water is a long time.

Silver, we missed you here! But it sounds like your trip totally rocked! I hear you on catching up, but at least you have an excuse. I was home and refused to work.

No appletinis until we get caught up. But maybe we can get Erika to send the flying monkeys to Starbucks!

I had a pretty lazy weekend, other than working Friday night. Saturday, I spent reading and playing on the computer. Sunday, I went shopping. I finally bought all the books that had come out in the last couple of weeks that I hadn’t gotten around to buying. I had a 20% off coupon for Godiva and had to make it worthwhile. Books and chocolate, best combo ever :) Then I rented a couple of movies. Monday, my best friend and I went to see Harry Potter. I jumped at one point even though I’d read the book and knew what was coming.

I spent the weekend blowing my nose and trying to breathe. My daughter was done with her cold so she gave it to me. She’s a GIVER! We went to the movies and saw All About Steve. Cute, but not worth the price of admittance. Rent it.

The flying monkeys are on their way!

Caffeine! Yes. I love the flying monkeys. Just sayin’! Thanks, Erika, for so generously offering their services. You can keep your cold, though. Get well soon! *tucks you in with hot water bottle, tea and honey, and…a hot toddy. Or a Todd Hotty…your choice.

Dawn, can’t go wrong with books and chocolate! I’ve heard a lot about that scene that makes everyone jump in HP! Glad you had a good weekend.

Erika, the flying monkeys rock! Now if only we could teach them to plot a book :-)

So sorry about the cold! Hope you feel better soon! And thanks for the tip on All About Steve! We wanted to see it but now we’ll wait for it to come out on DVD.

We actually went to OKC Sat & Sun. Hit Frontier City and Omniplex. Kids had a blast. In between we watched football and thought we were going to be sick when OU lost. *cwies*

Grilled ribs and brisket at home Monday. Yum!

Val, I LOVE Godsmack!! My favorite band ever!!! Sully is HOT!

Jen, I’ve heard that about the Time Travelers Wife. Which is why I haven’t gone to see it even though I love time travel. (wrote 2 books with TT) :D

    *hack* *cough* *sniff*

You guys are the best friends a witch could ever have. Silver, the hot toddy worked out better Todd Hottie, screamed and ran away when he found out I was sick. The big baby.

Jen, I’m working on teaching the monkeys how to type. I figure if I can just talk and walk around the room and they could type it up for me that would be HUGE! If they learn how to plot, I may have to take them into hiding with me. ;)

I spent the weekend fishing with the kids and feeding the turtles in the creek at the park. I do not have any new books to read so I settle into a Lifetime Movie Marathon as well.

Kira, sorry about your team! My husband is all happy because his team won.

Time Traveler’s Wife didn’t get much into the time travel aspect. It just didn’t work for me, but I’m sure other people loved it.

Erika, that Todd Hottie is a baby! We’ll find you someone better to nurse you back to health!

There’s no place you could hide the monkeys if you can teach them to plot! I’m desperate :-) I always say that, then suddenly things start taking shape. But still, if only those monkeys would help!

Umm, maybe you need a typist? He’d have to be a hot man for inspiration of course.

Brandy, awww, feeding the turtles sounds nice! I love Lifetime movies if I’m in the right mood! But I do hate being without books, even though I think it’s good to take a break from reading now and again.

Jen, sorry to hear about the movie. I heard it was sad, so I refuse to go see it. But overall, it sounds like you had a great weekend!!

My weekend… well, Hubby developed a head/chest-touch of the flu cold Wednesday that lasted until today. So, he was home bound all that time… YUCK!!!
Friday night, brought daughter to a high school football, went grab supper with a girlfriend (that was very nice… appletini’s were served) and then went pick up daughter from game and came home…
Saturday, daughter and bff wanted to go homecoming dress shopping. Bff has her driving license; which is cool. They headed out before me, because of course… Super Witch has the credit card!! So, SW had to drive an hour to get to where the girls were.. shopped… finally, we found a dress! Then they wanted to go to the movies… so had to head back to the hour drive to get to the movie place… went watch Gamer (OH MY GOSH… GERARD BUTLER… That is all I can say). Then LSU played at 930 my time… and of course people in the movie theatre thought I was nuts running out of the theatre at top speed to make it to my radio till I made it home to watch the game… We WON!!!!!!!!
Sunday… went to a book signing… Met Silver James!!!!!!!!! YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!!!!!
    It was awesome!!!!
Monday… spent half the day in an Urgent Care… daughter has the FLU!!!! Can’t go back to school until Monday!!
Yea…. that is one hell’va weekend!!! Anyone want to trade, lol!!!

Jen, Silver… I know you guys are not caught up… but appletini’s are here!!! Cuz I need a lot!!! I have been having a headache all evening!!!

Erica… I am sending you some hot toddies!!!! Know how you are feeling!!
