I had a really good weekend! Linda Howard was at my RWA meeting, and she totally rocks! She’s outspoken and funny in her very charming Southern way. Oh the stories she told!
Her main talk was on the 12 steps to intimacy, and if you’ve never heard Linda talk on this before, I highly recommend it. You can google 12 steps on intimacy and find the actual list, but her way of presenting it is both informative and hilarious.
We had a signing at the meeting and I bought two books SURRENDER OF A SIREN by Tessa Dare (read her first on GODDESS OF THE HUNT and loved it.) And THE BELLY DANCER by Deanna Cameron. I’m excited about reading both these books. Full disclosure–I know both the authors, but still I really think they are both very talented!
Also this weekend, I finished MAGIC STRIKES by Ilona Andrews–I’m not sure what I think. I love the alpha in there, Curran. I like the heroine Kate, but the world building was almost overwhelming. There are so many creatures and so many rules, I had to struggle to keep up. However, it’s the third book in the series and I haven’t read the first two yet, so that’s probably my fault. I did finish the book and found much of it really enjoyable.
I’m reading GRAVE PERIL by Jim Butcher now and this one is a little slow for me.

My weekend was good. Finished a couple of books. Took a stroll on the boardwalk. Selected fabrics for my next quilt project.

I’m reading the Must Love Hellhounds anthology with Charlaine Harris, Nalini Singh, Ilona Andrews and Meljean Brook. It’s really good!

I agree with Mandi, reading books out of order makes me shudder. If I acidentally buy a book in a series and I haven’t read the first ones I will go buy the preceding books just so I can read them in order.
I think if you would have started in the beginning Magic Strikes would have been easier to follow, I have read all three and really like the series. If I remember correctly the world building is an ongoing thing with a little more coming with each book.
I just started Christine Feehan’s book Dark Slayer. She is one of my favorite authors, my husband had to take the book away from me and force me to bed last night.

Linda Howard was a luncheon speaker at RWA DC this year. Nobody could eat. We were laughing too hard! I’ll definitely Google, though I have the feeling my dratted Muse will take one look at the list and go, “Hrmmm….there’s 12 books there!”
I just finished the 4th Bullet Catcher book by Roxanne St. Claire. I haven’t read the first three but will go back and catch up. I have book 5 and 6 and looking forward to reading book 7, HUNT HER DOWN that’s just out, but I’m switching genres for a bit and reading S. L. Day’s EVE OF DESTRUCTION.
I’m reading slow these days. Too much of my own work in the way.

Had a great weekend! Football, local chapter meeting, football, painting and more football!! I think I’m in love! Have I mentioned I like football???
I got several books, one of which I barely started…because of football.

Spent most of Saturday at kiddo’s soccer game. They moved up a level, so the field is bigger and the goal keeper can touch the ball. It was a pretty good game.
Sunday was mundane stuff like laundry and cleaning (uber-cleaning) the house for relatives that are visiting this week.
Today involves mopping and ironing–along with reading and goofing off, ’cause there really won’t be time for me to write.

Mandi, I know! But I do it all the time. I like to read the latest release, then I got back and start from the beginning. It’s weird…but somehow I feel like I’m missing out or something if I don’t read the latest.

Val, I am positive you are right, which is why I’m going to order the first two books and start form the beginning. I really liked the characters, so I’m sure I just need to catch up on the world building.
Hmm, your husband took the book away from you? LOL! I’d like to see my husband try that! Of course, he has used OTHER methods to get my attention and it usually works.

Hello witches! I spent my weekend finishing the last book in Nora Robert’s Seven Signs trilogy. OMG! If you haven’t read this series, you should. I don’t want to say too much, but HOLY COW! Loved it loved it loved it.

I like Tony too. Very cool guy. Funny fact…my hubby used to race midgets and every year here in Tulsa, they have the Chili Bowl Nationals, a HUGE event for midgets (race cars, for those who don’t know). Anywho, he has gotten to race against Tony several times. And once they ended up on top of each other, hanging upside down. lol

Kira, that’s a great story! I must tell the wizard about that one. He likes Tony. How many people have had the chance to hang out–upside down–with Tony! I just hope everyone came out of that without injuries.

Another story from the Chili Bowl Nationals your hubby might like —
My hubby was standing in line to pay for his pit pass and Kasey Kahne was in front of him. (way before he made it big) It was about 30 bucks. Kasey didn’t have it on him and had to borrow it from friends to get into the track. lol Now look at him! I’m sure pit pass fees are nooo problem now. hehehe

Sounds like you had an awesome weekend. =o) I did my usual weekend things – reading, football, writing.
Right now I’m in the middle of Stephen King’s first Dark Tower book, The Gunslinger. Definitely not what I usually read and not what I thought it would be like, but it’s interesting. Next up – if Daughter ever finishes it – is the first book in Jim Butcher’s Codex Alera fantasy series.

B.E. I haven’t read Stephen King since I read DUMA KEY about a year ago. That was definitely interesting. I don’t think I’ve hread his Dark Tower books.
Don’t get me started on another Jim Butcher series, LOL! Margaret already hooked me on the wizard series.
