Monday Roundup!

It’s been another busy weekend!

Friday night we went to see DATE NIGHT.  We laughed like lunatics. I really enjoyed the whole–boring married couple getting caught up in a crazy adventure–plot.  I thought Steve Carell and Tina Fey were perfect.

Baby cattle collie mixSaturday we went to the animal shelter. Wizard said he was tired of seeing my sad face.  We didn’t find the right dog, and I’m not sure what Wizard considers “right.” I suspect a wind up TOY dog might be what he has in mind. But keep those spells coming, we’re making progress with Wizard!

This is me holding a little beauty at another place my son and I went too.  She’s a lover, a collie mix, but probably too big.  She’s only three months old here.  It was tough, but I walked away.  I don’t think she’ll have any trouble finding a home.

After playing with that dog, I went home and FINALLY kicked my book’s butt! Okay here’ s the sad pathetic part–it was only about five pages, but I’ve been trying to find a way to get this turning point in for a week. A whole freaking week and every scene I tried failed.  I think I’ve got it now.  And it sets up the next scenes too.

Also (busy weekend, remember?) I read FAERIE FATE by Silver James! Loved it!  It’s a time travel romance, if you haven’t read it, what are you waiting for?

By now, you’re all probably sick of hearing this, but I just have to say that I’m so excited that BLOOD MAGIC is a finalist in the National Readers Choice Award contest! Congratulations to all my fellow finalists!

I’ll stop now. It’s your turn, how was your weekend?

Congratulations on both your nominations! Will you be attending the events associated with these two honors?

    I had another quiet weekend.

Awww… what a sweet baby! You’re right, she’ll find an awesome home. Congratulations on kicking book-butt. I’ll be by a big-box store today, and I hope to come home with Silver’s book. If not, I’ll be placing an order for it. And Woohoo on being a finalist! Blood Magic deserves to win. =o)

Oh, and way to go, Wizard, for taking the first step toward dog-ownership. =o)

I finished the last polish on my WIP and now it’s ready to send out for beta! Yay. I also started plotting the sequel (jumping the gun, I know) and did some work on the query letter. I’m heading out of town today. Catch you all later. =o)

Congrats on your nomination! You deserve it.

Had a busy weekend planned with outside activities, but the weather just did not cooperate. It was downright freezing. Did make it through daughters two hour softball practice, (I help out), on Saturday. But I’ll tell ya it took me hours to warm back up.

Did go out to eat on Saturday night, got some cleaning done, but other than that didn’t do much. Trying to finish a John Sanford book my mom gave me so I can return it. Those are usually quick reads but for some reason this book is dragging along and I don’t seem to be making much progress.

Congrats on finaling! That is such a great book it doesn’t surprise me.

Ooh, it looks like you’re making progress on the Wizard. :) I’ll keep whipping out those spells!

This weekend was busy. Finished up some shopping before our trip this week and some friends came over I hadn’t seen in a while. Sunday, I got down and dirty and whipped out some interviews and posts for release week. Phew. It’s been exhausting! I haven’t gotten any writing in because of promo stuff. But I’ve been working on it in my head. :D

Dru, thanks! I’m not going to RT (I was guessing that was the second one you meant) but I do plan on going to the National Readers’ Choice Event.

B.E., congrats on getting the book done and ready for your reader! That’s huge and I’m jealous!

That dog was the sweetest girl ever, I’m just a little worried she’s too submissive. But she was a real lover.

Thanks on Blood Magic, I’m just thrilled to be nominated.

Val, oh boy, I remember freezing through my boys baseball games and practices. I feel for you!

I usually like John Sanford too, sorry the book just isn’t holding your interest.

Ashlynn, you’re in crunch time for promo stuff! You’ll get to writing soon. I know writing blogs and such really eats up my time.

Thanks on keeping those spells coming for Wizard! The trick is to get him out to see the right dog and I’m pretty sure he’ll cave!

Glad to see the Wizard is starting to cave in. I am sure you will find your perfect puppy match in no time.

Our weekend was busy, we had our tae-kwon-do testing on Saturday and then Sunday I had a “girl” day with a friend for lunch and pedis. So nice.

I’ve been reading Malice by Lisa Jackson all weekend and I am almost finished with it. It was a hard read in the beginning, so many characters to keep up with.

Try this spell on the Wiz:

    Double bubble, sticks and stones.
Puppy dog tails and chew bones.
Hair of the dog and a cold nose
Off to the shelter, the Wiz goes.
There to see a puppy met
And bring home the perfect pet.

OK, give me a break. It’s Monday. Congrats again, Jen! I can’t wait to see you at Nationals. :D

Amanda, I hope so…Wizard is tormenting me saying he was just going to the pound to keep me happy, not to get a dog.

A girl day sounds so nice!

Glad the book is picking up in the second half!
