Whatcha Reading?

I really had a long spell of not being able to get into a book.  Some of it is work–long hours at the computer just make me to tired to read.

I did finally finish a book BLOOD BORN by Linda Howard and Linda Jones. When I bought the book, I wasn’t paying enough attention to realize the book had co-authors. I could tell the difference. Linda Howard books tend to be snappy and fast paced. This book is a bit different from Howard’s usual style with more chunks of backstory and telling. But the plot and story was interesting and I enjoyed it overall.

Then I read Maureen Child’s THE LAST LONE WOLF. Love it! Finally a book I didn’t want to put done and I read it in one night.

Now I’ve started Jane Castle’s DARK LIGHT.  I think my dry spell is over! Although I’m going to be reading slow as I have to get Key’s book done.

Okay your turn, what are you reading?

I just started Ashley James STORMWALKER between shifts this weekend. I haven’t gotten very far since then. So far I like it. Glad you liked BLOOD BORN. I have that one waiting in my TBR pile.

Congrats on breaking your reading slump. I just finished Feed by Mira Grant last night, so I’m between books. (Awesome book, btw.) I think I’ll snag Roxanne St. Claire’s first Bullet Catcher novel out of my TBR pile next. =o)

B.E. Rocki’s Bullet Catchers are awesome! Anything by Maureen Child is a must read for me, though I have a couple of hers languishing in my TBR pile. I just finished Eve Silver’s DEMON KISS. Next up is Leslie Kelly’s new BLAZING BEDTIME STORIES. I have it on Kindle. After that, I think I’ll have to hit up Maureen again before I start Deirdre Knight’s BUTTERFLY TATTOO. I’ve heard it’s really intense. I want to read something light while I’m finishing up SOTW.

Jen, I really liked the Harmony books Jayne wrote. I loaded them all on the Kindle and just gorged on them! (I did the same with Rocki’s Bullet Catchers, too! :D )

I love the Bullet Catcher series too, have read them all. Butterfly Tattoo was excellent, it had a unique storyline and repeatedly brought tears to the eye, so yeah something light before and after it is probably a good idea.

At home I was going to start Lover Mine, but decided to read a Tami Hoag book my mom gave me. I like her books and decided to read one that doesn’t get a permanent place on my book shelf to try and make some room.

Just finished Devon Monk’s Magic on the Storm, it was a cliffhanger, grrrr. I know why authors do that, but I simply have no patience and I have to wait till November when the next one comes out.

My at work book is Joey Hill’s Vampire Mistress, just started that yesterday. This is our busy season so don’t have as much time to waste, lol, so it might take me a little to finish it.

My TBR pile is growing quite large, between the books my mom gives me every time I see her and the authors I buy myself I am getting more books than I am reading. And with summer coming I don’t see that trend changing, which is okay but then it takes me forever to decide which book to tackle next. I want to read them all, lol.

I am starting Jaye Well’s The Mage in Black today, I just finished reading His Darkest Hunger by Jualiana Stone, it was a book club read.

Dawn, Stormwalker is one of our picks for the coming month and I have almost picked that book up about 4 times. Let me know how it is. :)

I am meeting with a friend on Thursday to swap off the rest of the book club reads so I’ll be diving into those before I move on. I should have a Richelle Mead’s Spirit Bound waiting on my doorstep (YAY!). I love going home to books waiting on me.

I’ve read several of her newest Bullet Catchers, Silver. I just missed the whole beginning of the series. I can’t wait to catch up. =o)

Dawn, let me know when you read BLOOD BORN. There were chunks in there I just skimmed and still had no trouble keeping up with the story line.

B.E., I haven’t heard of that book, but I’ve been in a cave lately. Eveyone seems to love the Bullet Catchers. I’ve read one of them.

Silver, I’ve read one of Eve’s Demon books. I really liked it. Have you met her? She’s really nice. I met her at a party once and really liked her.

This Harmony book is starting out very interesting.

I’m jealous of your e-reader, just not jealous enough to get one yet ;-)

Val, I’ve heard about BUTTERFLY TATTOO in several places. I must get it.

Did you lose interest in LOVER MINE? Just curious. I’m not getting that book until after my deadline!

I hear you on the TBR!! I’ve finally stopped buying so many at once, and now have a list of TBB when I finish my book.

Amanda, I love books on my porch too!

I love swapping books too. My sister and I do that all the time.

I can see from all the comments today that I am way behind on my reading. I’m missing out on some great books!

I love to read everyone’s comments. I am searching for new authors to read and this gives me lots of ideas.

I am reading Catch A Mate by Gina Showalter and listening to U is for Undertow by Sue Grafton. I just finished Covet by JR Ward. I’ve heard not such good things about it, but I liked it. I don’t know if I’ll follow the whole series, but I liked this book.

Jen, didn’t even start Lover Mine. It is long and I know I won’t want to put it down and I just don’t have the time to dedicate to it right now, so am putting it off for a littel. It’s really hard though, I have been waiting on that book for awhile, and as I said I have no patience, lol.

I read COVET. I’ve read a couple of Showalters, but not that one.

Val, that’s smart of you! I thought I was done with the series after Phury’s book, but I’m hooked again :-)

i am just now finishing up the latest book of the Otherworld series called BONE MAGIC by Yasmine Galenorn. really great series.

then i will start on the second book of the Calliope Reaper-Jones series called Cat’s Claw. and then after that who knows.

i have so many books that i don’t have room for the all and i still have more coming in. LOL I feel like i am going to be buried by my own books. maybe i will start library and start charging people when the barrow my books.

although so many of them tell me that they don’t get a lot of sleep because the books i have found are so addicting!!
