Cheese Anyone?

I think I just wrote the cheesiest lines ever.   I really need a nice glass of Merlot to wash it down! That got me to thinking…sometimes, the book calls for a little cheese. If the mood is right: it’s dark, the characters are exposing their emotional fears and vulnerabilities to one another — that’s the time for them to break out the cheesy lines.

Sometimes they work and sometimes they don’t.

So my cheesy line? (Still not sure I’m going to keep it) Here it is totally out of context, except to sat that it’s said while making love:

“Do that again, baby. This time, with me.”

Now for fun, tell me YOUR cheesiest line. Something you read, something you heard…come on, don’t leave me hanging here feeling cheesy and ALONE!

One line I knew was cheesy even as I wrote it was: Hell, even knowing what I know about my former lover, I wanted to dive off the jagged ledge of our shared past into the welcoming future those depths promised.

So, of course, I had to leave it in and have the heroine say something snarky about her own cheesy thoughts. ;o)

OMG! What an absolutely crazy day! Sorry I’m so late! Cheese. I love cheese. I did a writer’s prompt once using cheesy pickup lines. I need to go find that in my files. It was hysterical. It was a scene from Sade’s college days–Sade being the heroine in my current pitch project. There is so much cheesy goodness I don’t even know where to start. I’ll close my eyes and stab, see what piece of cheese sticks. So you know what’s going on, Sade’s at a bar with sorority sisters. There’s a bet that Missy Spurlocke can’t pick up a guy at the bar. And….action:

I whispered in her ear. She giggled—the cheerleader giggle that always grates on my last nerve. Missy bounced down the bar. Literally. Her sweater looked like two balloons on a windy day. Every male eye in the place swiveled like Missy’s hips to watch her progress.

If that doesn’t put a giggle in your day, nothing will!

Heard a guy in a club once say, “You MUST be from Tennessee because you’re the only 10 I see.” Thank god his back was to me when I laughed so hard I spewed my drink all over the back of his head. Sorry, dude. lol
