What Are You Reading?

I’m reading the page proofs for SINFUL MAGIC. This is the point where it is type set and we’re just looking for mistakes.  This is hard for me because I never think the book is good enough. But this book is especially hard–I am just too close to be able to tell if it’s okay or not. I’m trying not to worry too much. I’m about 100 pages into the page proofs.

Most of my other reading is contest books or books I’m reading for work.  Once I’m writing,  I just don’t get to read as much.  That’s something I hate, a definite downside of being a writer.

For example, I’ve been reading-for-pleasure a book on my Kindle for way more than a week now. It’s called KISS AT YOUR OWN RISK by Stephanie Rowe, a humorous (insane!) paranormal, but I’m having trouble finding the time to finish it. I’m almost there…maybe one more day of stolen moments of reading and I’ll be done.  But if you like over the top funny, then you’ll enjoy this book.

What about you all? What are you reading?

I just finished Lora Leigh’s story in the anthology PRIMAL. I’ve now started reading Regan Hasting’s VISIONS OF MAGIC. I’m not very far into it yet, only about the third chapter.

I’m reading Laura Griffin’s Unforgivable. I’m only a few chapters in, but so far, it’s really good. Next up, a SF YA that’s gotten a lot of internet buzz – Across the Universe by Beth Revis.

Kiss at Your Own Risk sounds fun. I’ll have to add it to my list… when I finally get down to the bottom of my TBR pile. So much to read, so little time. ;o)

Jen, I just finished Kiss At Your Own Risk. It’s the first book I’ve read from Stephanie Rowe. Wasn’t to sure about it the first chapter or so, but after that I fell in love. Already added the next book in the series to my list of books to buy.

I also just finished “Sins of the Soul” and “Sins of the Flesh” by Eve Silver. After reading the first one I just had to read the others, wanted to know if I was correct in who the “Bad Guy” was. Don’t want to say to much and ruin it for others who might want to read the series.

Zoe, good luck with Lord of the Rings. I read the series in High School and loved it. When the movies came out I got the books for the kids and I tried to reread it. Tried being the operative word, lol. I just couldn’t get into it the second time around, not sure why :( .

I’m currently reading Jayne Ann Krentz’s RUNNING HOT, #5(?) in her Arcane Society series. And I’m reading GH entries. I have so little time at the moment to *just* read even though I’m trying to get organized so I have time. I need another few days on NRCA stuff and then I’m going to revamp how I do things so I have some free time for reading. I find I write so much easier when I’m reading.

SINFUL MAGIC is going to be awesome! I have absolutely no doubts about this!!!!! And I can’t wait to read NIGHT MAGIC. I love Phoenix. Heck, I love Key, too! Can’t wait for both of these books! You can bet that I’ll drop everything to read them when they come out.

Val, I’m right at the very end of Kiss and so annoyed that I have to keep stopping. It’s just so zany and fun!

Love Eve! I’ve only read the one Sin book but am hoping to get to the other one some day.

Thanks Silver, you’re such a good friend! But you really can’t drop everything to read them–I know how many projects you have going and youj’ll still be swamped when the come out :-)

Love the Arcane Society but I haven’t read them all. Or in order!

I so agree on reading while writing, but it’s so hard to find the time!

i do want to read some of the classics eventually its just taking a while to get through the ones i want to read lol. I was the same with Pride and Prejudice as you are with Wuthering Heights Jen.

I just found a series that I really enjoyed, although not altogether new they were new to me and all of the books were a great read! More magic, witches, vampires, necromancers, and werewolves! Dime Store Magic, Industrial Magic etc.. by Kelly Armstrong (sp)? However, I can’t wait to get my hands on the new Wing Slayer books! Counting down the days!
