Monday Roundup

I had a good weekend! Saturday, I worked and read. Sunday I went out with Biker Witch (my sister).  Amazingly, we did not get into any trouble.  It’s miraculous really, given that Biker Witch is the troublemaker in the family.

I’m the good sister.

No really, I am!

Fine let’s change the subject, shall we? I learned something new, and  I am going to share it here with all of you: The Super Secret Formula To Making Wizard Happy.  (Get your minds out of the gutter! Sheesh! I don’t mean THAT.) Okay ready?

Here it is:

A 46 inch flat screen TV + High Definition = Blissfully Happy Wizard.

What’s hilarious about this,  is it took us years to buy this TV (because we’re cheap), and then we swore we didn’t need high definition (Because We’re Cheap).  Ever (BECAUSE WE’RE CHEAP).  Once we got the TV home that lasted exactly two weeks. Then Wizard caved, and got High Def.

Happy, happy wizard! And a happy wizard makes for a very happy witch!

Okay that was my weekend, how was yours?

What Are You Reading?

Before we get to reading, how sad is it to lose such an icon as Elizabeth Taylor? She really lived as the heroine of her own life. Quite amazing.

Now onto reading! I’m reading WHEN BEAUTY TAMED THE BEAST by Eloisa James. I’m a half to two thirds of the way through and really enjoying it. I don’t really read a lot of historical romances anymore, and now I’m wondering why? It’s a really fun book. The hero is bad tempered and shocked that the heroine doesn’t put up with his crap. Always a good time!

So what are you all reading? (And please,I’m am NOT fishing for comments on Night Magic, I really want to hear about all the great books you’re reading so I can pick my next Kindle book!)

Weekend Roundup

One more day until NIGHT MAGIC officially hits the bookshelves!

My weekend was good. Wizard and I went to see his mother, which is always fun. But it got even better because two of my sons came by and they brought Bailey Dog! Bailey and I hung out. I definitely need more Bailey Time in my life.  That dog just makes me smile.

Later that night Wizard and I went out for a steak and lobster dinner. While driving home, I was chatting about Bailey,  and about Sadie…

It has taken both Wizard and I awhile to deal with having to give her up.  For those of you who don’t know, that was the German shepherd mix puppy we had for three weeks.  She was a great puppy, and training fast with things like simple commands the leash. But she got sick and I was sick, and in the end, we had to return her to the rescue people. (Sadie’s fine, I checked up on her once and she was doing well ).  For weeks I was broken hearted and disappointed  in myself. I couldn’t talk about it (except to Wizard and a few friends.)

Now I’ve accepted that it was bad timing.

Now back to Saturday night, on the way home. I was chatting away, when I suddenly asked Wizard:  What if someone was willing ot give us an adult dog who is already trained? What would you do?

Wizard immediately said,   “I’d take the dog.” Then realizing what he said, he looked at me and asked.  “Why? Do you know someone?”

Me:  “Nope. Just seeing where your boundaries on the issue are.”

Wizard did that slow smile he does when he thinks I’m going to challenger him somehow, because he loves a challenge.  “You’re plotting something.”

“Who me?”

Bwhahaha!!! I’m actually not plotting anything at the moment.  Just, you know, thinking.  I know I can’t handle a puppy with my work schedule and other issues at this time in my life.   And I never want to go through the pain of giving up another dog.  And yet, I still want a dog.  So a trained older puppy or adult dog? Hmm…is there a spell for that?

How was your weekend?

Dear Insomnia…

Why me? Why do you insist on keeping me up night after night until I am a raging mess in the day? Haven’t you learned yet that I have nothing interesting to say at two am? And lately, with all your nightly visits, I have nothing interesting to say at 2 pm or at any given hour.

I’m going to suggest you go visit Charlie Sheen.  He’s much more interesting that me.

Sincerely,

Jen Lyon

So…do any of you suffer from insomnia?

P.S. I’m so tired I just frustrated a door to door salesman so much he said, “I don’t need this from you!” And stomped off. Dude, you pounded on my door and wouldn’t accept my reasonably polite “I’m not interested,” and you’re mad at me? LOLOL!!!

P.S.S.  Five more days until NIGHT MAGIC comes out!

Weekend Roundup

I had a good weekend.  Friday, Wizard came home early and we went to lunch. Then he started cleaning windows and refused to let me help because he knew I had work today. He finished the windows on Saturday (we have a LOT of window) when I was at my RWA meeting.

Not having to clean the windows makes for an excellent weekend!

I also got caught up on some email and interviews I needed to get done.

Then Wizard and I went looking at model homes just for fun.  We found a one-story house that we love.  I am in lust. Wizard, however, is being all reasonable about why it’s not financially feasible for us to sell our current home and buy that one.   Way to suck all the fun out of the room, Wizard…that’s all I’m saying. Sigh.

I also got in a little reading time. And the weather is beautiful!

How was your weekend?

Goodreads

I’ve recently joined Goodreads, do any of you belong? I’m still learning it all.  So many books! I could easily lose hours of my life (PROCRASTINATION!) playing on there!

If anyone want to friend me on Goodreads, you can find me here

If you want to get into the contest to win a copy of NIGHT MAGIC go here (Sorry U.S. residents only for that particular contest)

I try not to read reviews on my books there too much there because I believe that unless invited, authors should step away from readers chatting about books.  We’re just too invested. (Just my opinion!)

Okay, so what about you all? Are you on Goodreads?
