Update on Wing Slayer Hunter Series

I wanted to share with you all the status on the Wing Slayer Hunter Series.  First, I need to tell you all that I love, love, LOVE writing this series.  I feel deeply connected to all the characters and I really care about them.  They are a part of me.

That said, right now, the series is on hold.  I hate it, but it’s a cold reality of the business.  However…I have no intention of abandoning the characters and am looking for a viable way to give them all the stories they deserve.  I already have Linc, Eli and Ram’s stories planned. It is just a matter of getting all the logistics worked out–and then writing the stories.

If anything changes dramatically, I’ll let you all know.

In the meantime, I am working on a new project that I’m getting super excited about.  Each day, I’m falling more in love with it.

And then at night…I hear the whispers of the Wing Slayer Hunters reminding me I made them a promise that I will find a way to keep.

Thank you all for sharing this journey with me–and know that I value each of you.

Jen

Thanks for the update. It’s obvious that we all love your WING SLAYERS too. I can just imagine those guys bugging you at night  .
Am interested in finding out more about what you’re starting to work on. Any idea when you will give us an idea of what it’s about?

But… but… but… Sinful Magic was your best yet. It doesn’t make any business sense to hold the series after the best book. Sheesh. Seriously. Who do I have to smack around to get the ball rolling again? Because I will. (Okay, so I’m a wimp and I won’t, but I want to.) :hugs:

Don’t worry Jen, we all know you will find a way to get their stories out. And you know we’re all here to read them when you do ;)

I’m sorry the series is on hold I have noticed lately authors being plagued with problems mostly publishers.
For example recently Bianca D’ Arc was very down in the dumps she had had a chance to go with a big publisher and took it only to discover that they wanted her to write about Zombies. She tried to tell them that zombies and romance just don’t go together but they wouldn’t listen. So when her sales tanked they blamed her and no longer want any of her work. ( the rat bastards ). But I assured her I would still buy her books no matter who published them and also told her about Shayla Black’s recent announcement that she would be self publishing her Doomsday Brethren series from now on so that she would have creative control. So that being said rest assured that no matter what, you have a lot of fans of the Wing Slayer series and we will all be waiting patiently for the next installment no matter where it comes from you are an awesome writer and I have every confidence that we will see more of the Wing slayer bunch.

B.E., I so appreciate that! I really felt the series was hitting it’s stride with Sinful…but it wasn’t my decision. Thank you so much for the support.

Hi Jackie, I was in an anthology with Bianca, and I’m really sorry to hear that. But I’m really excited that she’s going to self pub and keep going!

And thank you for the support. This business (like all businesses) can be brutal, but we have to shake it off and keep going :-)

I am not happy at all that the series is on hold. It’s one of my absolute favorites! I really hope you get to publish more of them and soon. I don’t like what’s going on with the publishing industry lately. Just know we are all behind you 1000% and love your work! Keep writing, Jen! We will always support you!

That being said, I do hope to hear more about this new project soon. I’m kinda excited about it. ^__^

I’m with B.E.!!! Just give me a name! I haven’t been sweating through grueling boxing classes at the gym for nothing! I love all your books though so I’m sure whatever you are working on is going to be WONDERFUL! And hopefully we will get some good news about WSH being continued soon!

Your witches always support you!

I really think that these big publishers need to wake up and smell the coffee. This is the electronic age and more authors than ever are starting to self publish and I don’t blame them. Its the authors who write these wonderful stories and they are more in touch with what the fans want not some bean counter sitting behind a desk somewhere.Maybe all of us fans ought to take a page out of the sixties and protest these big publishers after all we are the ones who buy the books.

A spell A spell ( looking through books feverishly) to pursuade publishers— Ah ha under knuckle headed stubron bosses- I will let you know what is it is as soon as I find some chicken lips and pig feathers. Mean while I will keep looking out for anything new from you. Just Keep the Faith.

I just told a friend of mine who lives in Berkely that your series was on hold and she said what is wrong with those idiots (publishers) she loves this series also, her suggestion was maybe all you authors ought to get together and start your own publishing company. Hey stranger things have happened that is how United Artists got started the actors were tired of getting the shaft.

Jackie, thanks for caring! I’m just moving forward.

On banding together–I imagine some authors are doing just that. Times have changed and there are more options opened these days. One of my issues is that I’ve been incredibly lucky to work with top notch, very talented editors who pushed me to dig deep and write better stories. Not sure I want to give that up :-)

    Thanks again!

Jennifer, I’m sorry! I hate that I’m letting readers down. I know it’s not really in my control, but it still bothers me.

    June 21st, 2011 at 3:52 pm · Link

*sniff* That’s just soooooo wrong, Jen. Just when you’re starting to really pick up more readers. The publishers are idiots. I’m with the rest of the witches…who do we have to beat up to get this series back? I say we all band together and make a road trip

All right, witches, let’s all start a compaign and bombard Random House (thanks, BN, for listing publishers :) ) with letters demanding our Wing Slayers back!

  23. Jackie Allen
    June 21st, 2011 at 3:59 pm · Link

I’m with Dawn maybe letters to the publisher would help. Heck we could start a save the Wing Slayers facebook page kind of like what they did for Judy Mays when those parents were trying to get her fired from her teaching job for writing erotic romance on the side.

    June 21st, 2011 at 4:16 pm · Link

Okay, just had another thought. How many witches can we get to boycott Random House authors until we get our Wing Slayers back?

    June 21st, 2011 at 4:23 pm · Link

Dawn and Jackie, thank you both! But I want to caution–we don’t want to hurt other authors. Everyone is really struggling right now, and they all need every sale. So we don’t want to boycott them.

And while I really appreciate all your passion, there’s really isn’t anything to do but move forward. I’ll do my best to find another way to get the Wing Slayer Hunter books to you guys, AND I’m trying to write an exciting new series :-)

    June 21st, 2011 at 4:30 pm · Link

I wouldn’t want to hurt any other authors times are tough its just hard to sit on the sidelines and do nothing several authors having been getting the shaft lately from publishers. These publishing houses though need to realize that without all you wonderful authors they wouldn’t have a job. Anyway a new series sounds great and I might not have ever known about you if I hadn’t seen you on facebook so I guess that is a good venue to acquire a larger fan base.

Oh Jennifer no !!! I was waiting so patiently for Ram. I’m sorry you’re having difficulty that’s just so frustrating. You’re a wonderful writer and I’m sure you’ll see a way through this – your witches strength and determination comes from within their writer x

We’ve talked about this. I say pox on the publishers for stopping mid-series. They really do tick off their readers and in this day and age, with all the options available to the reading dollar, I don’t think that’s very wise. But…yeah…whatever.

    I hope you’ll figure a way through, too. I want Ram’s, Linc’s, and Eli’s stories!

That said, and now that I’ve stopped wailing and gnashing of teeth, I’m excited about the new project. I think it will rock! And I owe you mail. Soon. :D Hang in there. Know that no matter what, we witches have your back!

Hey there… Sorry to hear your books are on hold. I absolutely love your work. Went and bought Soul, Night, and Sinful magic the days they came out. I am looking forward to reading your newest, though I totally understand writers block. Sometimes new projects really help. Hate putting stories on hold, but then afterwards sometimes they turn out to be twice as good!!! Which, with how amazing your books are already, could be very very interesting : )!
    Best wishes!

Jennifer, I too learned about you on FB and now am hooked on the series! Was not aware there were problems with the publishers but in this day and age of e-readers it seems like they had better get savvy or get out!! Readers looooove their authors and their series and won’t sit still for publishers getting in the way. So, what can we do – who can we write to?

I think its ridiculous that they are putting the wingslayers on hold! I personally think its one of the most creative story lines i have read so far and i have read alot of books and alot of series! i will be devastated if you cant continue them! :-x

Usually I’m a lurker here but I figured it was about time I commented. I’ve been waiting for news on the next books since I finished Sinful magic. Frankly, I’m disappointed that the series has been put on hold. It’s one of the best series I’ve read and certainly my favorite. But I understand that everything is not always up to you. So I will patiently await the rest of the series. In the mean time, I am interested in hearing more about your current project when you have the details.

Well that just sucks!!!!!! Talk about a downer!! I’m so sorry you are having to put up with this, Jenn. Your books are fantastic and the only one’s I read outside of YA (and the only series I’ve bought). I hope you find what you need SOON!!!! I really want to see Ram, Eli and Linc’s stories as I’m sure you really want to write them. Especially with the way SM ended I keep thinking how will Ram and Shayla’s story work out…..so the waitind begins….for all….
