What Are You Reading?

I read just over one book while on vacation, mostly on the plane. Otherwise, we were too busy or someone (Wizard!) chats when I try to read. But since I last mentioned it, I think I’ve read two Lori Foster books:

WHEN YOU DARE, book one in her Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor Series. This book I liked a lot! I was drawn in and enjoyed the interplay between the hero and heroine.

TRACE OF FEVER, book two in the same series.  This one was okay, but I didn’t get as drawn in. I had trouble believing the heroine’s background and motivation.

But I think the third book, SAVOR THE DANGER, looks interesting. Haven’t read it yet, but I probably will.

I’ve just started reading Nalini Singh’s ARCHANGEL’S CONSORT.  I’m hoping to get a little quiet reading time to get further into the book!

Okay, your turn! What are you reading?

My Weekend in Texas

Wizard and I went to Fort Worth, Texas to see old friends we haven’t seen in years.  I’m absolutely stunned at how well this trip went.  Our flights were on time, and landed early both ways.  Our one suitcase that we checked arrived with us.  I didn’t accidentally go into any men’s restrooms in the airports. Always a bonus!

Of course, Wizard did point out the difference between men and women’s restrooms every chance he got. Funny, Wziard, real funny.

In Texas, we had so much fun with our friends.  We ate great food, laughed a lot, went out on their boat.  Oh! And from the boat, they showed me Chuck Norris’s house! I wish I’d had my camera! I’m trying to remember the name of the lake, but it’s escaping me now.

We also passed some really nice looking horse farms, but I never saw a cowboy :-)

On the way back to the airport, there was construction and we somehow missed the turn off. We drove a ways before we admitted we had screwed up and I was starting to panic. But Wizard just pulled off, took out a map (an old fashion map!) read it and got us right back to the airport.  All with very minimal swearing.  The man is freaky good at finding his way around.

Me? I can turn the wrong way off an elevator in a hotel and be lost in minutes.

Finally in the airport and waiting around, we were people watching. There were some interesting people. Wizard started calling them “paranormals” causing me to bust out laughing like a…well…a “paranormal.” Sigh.

I seriously thought I’d come back with some dumb witch stories about me, but my luck seemed to be extraordinarily good!

Anyway, that was our weekend. How was yours?

I’m Back!

Howdy! I missed you all! We had a great trip, and I’ll tell you all about it in tomorrow’s blog. Today I’m in catch-up mode. I wish I could do this:

But laundry and email and other of life’s little chores–plus my proposal–are all screaming for my attention.

Come back tomorrow and we’ll chat!

Fun with Bailey

I had unexpected visitors yesterday–youngest son and Bailey dog–and I ended up getting nothing done.

This is a picture from last summer, but he was in the pool with us. Well actually, he stepped on me as I was laying on the raft.  Just stood on my stomach.  He doesn’t really like the pool, so I was surprised.

Then youngest son went out to see friends and I dogsat  poor Bailey. He frets and worries when they leave him, even with me.  But then we went out back and chased lizards (Bailey chased them, I stood there and laughed).

But no words got written and no prep for Wizard and my weekend plans. So frustrating, but how can I ignore Bailey (and my son!)?  Ah well, that’s what today is for! And I guess I’ll just have to wait until next week to get back to my dragon project :-)

Hope you all have a great weekend! I’ll be back online Monday or Tuesday!

Minor News and Stuff

Okay I still haven’t gotten any more info, so I’ll tell you what I do know.  The Wing Slayer Series has evidently been picked up by a U.K. publisher for digital release. The editor there had read the series and loved it.   I’m really pleased (as in thrilled) that, in spite of the set backs, people are finding the books and really enjoying them.

I’ll find out more, but NY publishing has a tendency to slow to a crawl in the summer months, so this is typical.

In other news,  Wizard and I have plans this weekend, so I won’t blog (or even be online) Friday and maybe Monday. I’ll tell you guys all about once I’m back online.

So share your news! It can be anything!

Weekend Roundup

Saturday was good. I finished the draft of the three chapters of my new proposal and sent it out for critiques.  Now I just need to write the synopsis–ugh. But it’s a necessary evil…so I’ll do it.  Then I went in the Jacuzzi with Wizard and told him  I was saving (weight watcher) points so that he could take me out for a chocolate dipped ice cream after dinner.

Wizard only agreed to this AFTER talking me into paying for my ice cream and his. He drives a hard bargain!

Sunday,  I went to coffee with Biker Witch (my sister) and at our favorite patio hang out.  We were there for nearly two and a half hours chatting away and we had a great time. But I have to lodge a complaint–this is the second time that we’ve had an odd man bug us while we’re involved in out sisterly chats. This doesn’t happen to me when I’m not with her, so I’m pretty sure it’s Biker Witch attracting them.  Oh well,  she’s a great sister in spite of the way she attracts annoying men so I ‘ll let it go.

So how was your weekend?

Reading

Wow, getting dragged into a new story and new world is exhausting! Plus I have this tiny piece of news about the Wing Slayer Series, but I don’t have enough info to share it yet.

So moving on…

I’ve just started Michelle Rowen’s NIGHTSHADE.  I’m not too far into it yet, but I’m enjoying it.  I’m trying to read new-to-me authors.

So that’s what I’m doing, how about you?
