It’s Wizard’s Fault

As I predicted, I didn’t get a post up yesterday, and I blame Wizard. He’s a terrible influence on me.  When I’m on deadline, NOTHING stops me from working.

But when I’m not? Wizard lures me out to the backyard and pool. He’s just evil. And if it’s not the pool…well see this is what happened yesterday.  I got up early to go to the gym and noticed the kitchen faucet was leaking. So I mentioned it to Wizard when I got home from the gym. He looked at it and said we need a new one.

He said he’d go to Home Depot and pick one out, and I could keep working. I strongly suggested that he get a certain kind that I like.

I know he rolled his eyes. But I don’t care too much at this point, so I shrugged.

About forty minutes late, he came home, glared at me and said, “You have to come with me. I can’t pick it out. There’s a whole wall of them.”

So I went…

Long story short, I wrote one page yesterday.  But overall, my weekend was great!

Weekend Roundup

My weekend was pretty good, yet not interesting enough to write about.  I’m over at MurderSheWrites today, but that blog is really lame.  I think I’ve hit blog burnout. It’ll pass, it always does. On the upside, I’m giving away a copy of BLOOD MAGIC and SOUL MAGIC so if you’re interested, hop on over to MurderSheWrites.

Question of the Day

I’d really love your opinion on this:

First person or third person? Why? Do you sometimes like first, and other times like third?

Enlighten me!

What Are You Reading?

I’m trying to write this blog when I’m drained of all Brain Cells. But the good news–I finished the proposal and sent it to my agent yesterday. I’m hoping she has time to read it this week and give me her feedback.

One of the many things I can count on with my agent is that she is always honest. Always. I know she means what she says.  I love that, even when I don’t love hearing what she has to say.

I really want to tell you all about this idea! But I know I must be careful, dang it. It’s killing me!You guys are my witches, and I think I should be able to share everything!

Let’s change the subject before I do say something I shouldn’t.

I finished reading STORM’S HEART by Thea Harrison. I didn’t love it anywhere near as much as I loved DRAGON BOUND.  But then, DRAGON BOUND is a hard book to follow up!

I’ve just started FIRST GRAVE ON THE RIGHT by Darynda Jones. I’m only a couple chapters in, but so far, it’s very entertaining!

So what are you reading?

Weekend Roundup

I had a good weekend! Saturday I went to my local RWA chapter meeting, and Dr. D. P. Lyle was the guest speaker.  I could only stay for the first half where he talked about the Psychology of Character Motivation. It was fabulous! If you ever get to the opportunity to hear Dr. Lyle speak, I highly recommend you do so!

That evening oldest son, his girl friend and Bailey Dog came out.  I made dinner, we hung in the Jacuzzi then we all went to McDonald’s for dessert because I wanted my 5-point chocolate dipped cone :-)

Sunday I talked Wizard into going to see some wall art I found. We bought it and hung two pieces. I  had bought two vases previously that matched perfectly. Wizard was impressed that I pulled this “look” together.

Hey–even I have good days once in a while, LOL! Never mind that it’s been two (maybe three?) years since we painted the inside of the house, and I took down all the valences and curtains over the blinds, threw them away and SWORE I’d get new window treatments. Of course, Wizard could care less, so he is complicent in my laziness. Maybe he should care more then I might follow through.

Maybe. But probably not. Sigh.

So how was your weekend?

Joke: 5 Secrets Of A Perfect Relationship

I got this joke in my email the other day–it cracked me up! Hope it amuses you too.

FIVE SECRETS OF A PERFECT RELATIONSHIP:

1. It’s important to be with someone who helps at home, cooks, cleans and/or has a job.

2. It’s important to be with someone who can make you laugh.

3. It’s important to be with someone you can trust and who would never lie.

4. It’s important to be with someone who is good in bed and likes being with you.

5. It’s absolutely vital that these four people don’t know each other.

Karma Smacks Me Again

Sunday night, Wizard and I were in the Jacuzzi, and I was showing him how I’ve gotten more flexible by lifting one leg at a time up as high as I could. I suspect this looked better in my head than in reality, but Wizard acted impressed.

I felt something suspicious deep in my right side, but I ignore it. Because, you know, I wanted Wizard to be impressed.

On Monday, I got up from my desk chair and Wizard–who was off work–says, “Why are you limping like that.”

Okay I thought about lying, but lying always turns out to be too much work.  Plus I know he’s getting worried about my arthritis so I have to fess up.  “It’s not my arthritis. I, uh, might have pulled something.”

I had his full attention.  Staring at me, he demands, “Pulled something where?”

I poured my coffee and muttered, “My right hip.”

“How…oh!” He starts to laugh. Catching his breath, he says,  “You pulled your hip showing off in the Jacuzzi!” Then he ROARS with laughter.

So glad I can amuse him. Seriously. It just makes my day.  But damn it, he’s right! I was showing off. All smug and proud because he’s not that flexible. Stupid Karma.
