What’s Your Upcoming Must-Read

Happy Release Day to Regan Hastings ! The second book in her Awakening Series,  VISIONS OF SKYFIRE is out today! Full disclosure: Regan is the pen name of a good friend of mine, Maureen Child. I still remember the day Maureen told me about her new idea–a world of witches awakening and the society that feared them.

I got chills. I loved it! And I continued to love it as she wrote the first book, VISIONS OF MAGIC. If you haven’t read the first book, go read the excerpt here. And you can read the excerpt to the second book, VISIONS OF SKYFIRE,  here.

Another upcoming read I’m excited about is Laura Wright‘s (another friend)  ETERNAL CAPTIVE,  but that’s not out until February 2012, darn it!

Okay, now tell me, what upcoming book are you excited about?

I’m with you on Regan and Laura’s books but I’m waiting for Darkness Unbound by Keri Arthur to arrive. I loved her Riley Jenson series and can’t wait to see where things are going to go with Risa. And let’s not forget Serpent’s Kiss by Thea Harrison. I could go on and on :).

I preordered Regan for my NOOK. It’s waiting for me to get to it. Also out today, ANGELS OF DARKNESS, an anthology w/ Nalini Singh; Rick Riordan THE SON OF NEPTUNE; and Mercedes Lackey CHANGES. I’ll have to get to BN for CHANGES, as it’s part of a series I don’t buy on NOOK. The others are preordered :D

Both of those are on my must-read list! Also Janet Evanovich’s Explosive Eighteen cones out in November, her second in the Diesel series doesn’t come out until 2012! Booo! I’m waiting on Elisabeth Naughton’s next installment in her series and Shannon Butcher’s next book in her paranormal series!

Right now, the only things I must read are the books in my TBR pile – because I’m trying reallyreallyreally hard not to buy new books until those are finished. Of course, I’m still buying books when I hear about really awesome ones – especially by authors I know. And because of that I’m avoiding reading about releases… Wait, what? A new Shannon Butcher is coming out? And a Rick Riordan?? Blast it all.

Zoe, does the cookbook have a recipe for butterbeer? If it does, I’m all over that puppy for my son-in-laws Christmas present! :D

I enjoyed Regan/Maureens first Visions book. I think I had SKYFIRE preodered. I should go check my Kindle, huh? I’m looking forward to…wow. That’s sad. I really don’t have anything on my radar–as if 117 books in the TBR pile wasn’t enough already! LOL I think I’ve deliberately ignored new books so I won’t be tempted. ;)

Viki, yes, Serpents Kiss! Going to give it a try even thought the second book didn’t work for me as well as Dragon Bound :-)

B.E., LOLOL!!! Book buying is an addiction! Although since I’ve gotten my Kindle, I’m more likely now to buy when I want to read it. That whole buy it and start reading in seconds is very gratifying.

Zoe, thanks for the tips on the HP cookbook!

Yeah, I’ve had to stop buying books at times. It makes my cranky, LOL.

Shiloh, okay, I think Shannon Butcher must be my next read. I keep intending to buy her and get sidetracked.

Silver, isn’t it amazing how writing so much seriously cuts into our reading time? But 117 books in your TBR pile is huge!

Since I went ahead and listed my 2012 must reads, I should also include Joan Swan’s debut book Fever! I’ve been waiting for it for a year now!! It comes out in April and I’m pumped! LOL Funny since this is her first book, but I’ve heard a ton about her from other “trusted” authors!

Zoe, I don’t really need the recipe, but when my DD and I talked about it, she mentioned that was the recipe the SIL wanted most. Now that I know there’s one, it’s all gravy! Yay. I now have part of his Christmas done. Someday, I’m a gonna have Christmas all shopped out before Thanksgiving. *looks shifty eyed* That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it!
