Bailey Solution–Hibernation.

Bailey is in his “bear” phase and trying out hibernation.

He’s really in there, I swear!

Like Bailey, I’m doing a little hibernation too. I’m staying quiet and working on this new proposal. And I’m finding that I’m stalling on sending it to my agent. That has never happened to me. Weird. But I’ll probably do it soon.

Then I must get back to the dragons. I feel bad abandoning them.

And Linc surface to tell me, “Hey, witch, you’re spending all this time thinking about Christmas shopping, cards and decorating, but what about us? Don’t Wing Slayer Hunters deserve Christmas presents?”

I rolled my eyes.  “You’re disgustingly  rich, Linc,” I reminded him. “What could I possibly get you?”

“Write. My. Story! And dude, you REALLY left Ram hanging. You might want to help him out too, he’s in a bad way.”

Sigh. I tried to explain that I want to but the publisher dropped the series. Linc is totally unsympathetic.

So I’m thinking Bailey has the right idea. Hibernation! What do you think? Is Bailey onto something?

Bailey has the right idea :) . Winter is finally showing up around here. It snowed yesterday so I put off doing all of my running around because I didn’t want to get salt on my new car.
Oh Linc, you must yell at the publisher because we too want your book :).

Yeah, I think Bailey has the right idea too. He looks nice and toasty warm. It’s freezing here. And after the morning I had yesterday, hibernation sounds pretty good right now.

We have lots of flooding in the area. It rained for a day and a half…straight. I got up late yesterday morning because my alarm didn’t go off. Power had gone out the day before and I didn’t know it so didn’t reset my alarm clock. So I was running late to work. Then, the roads were closed to flooding. I turned down one road I thought was open. Came to high water and tried to drive through it. Car stalled and started to flood. (The water from the creek the road crosses was still rising.) I dropped my cell when I was getting out of the car. Then had to wade though the icy water to get back to the cop car that had pulled up behind me. Needless to say, I did not have a good day yesterday. Then the cops called at 4 AM this morning to tell me the water had receded enough to have my car towed and could I take care of it because he wanted to open the road soon. 4 AM is not my idea of fun on any day, much less my day off.

Jen, if you decide on hibernation, I’m coming with you!

Awww, I think I can see hims widdle eyes. So cute. (and yes, I babytalk to pets.)

I want to be right there with him, hibernating, today. It’s snowing and gross and windy – and the ‘winter weather advisory’ hasn’t even really started yet. :shiver: Bleh. As for you hibernating, you’ve worked really hard this year, so a couple days of rest sounds perfect. Send it on Monday.

You know, I was thinking the other day (strange, I know), but have you thought about contacting some place like Samhain and seeing if they’d pick up the rest of the Wing Slayer series? I read somewhere about some other author (can’t remember who) who did that with their dropped series and it’s working out great for them. Just a thought.

Oh Dawn wow glad to know you are alright. Flooded roads can be so tricky and jobs can be so unforgiving about getting there in bad weather.

Personally I think everyone should hibernate from mid Jan to the beginning of march. Instead of summer vaction I think the kids should be off of school during that time. I am not a snow bunny with skiing and all that but I really would perfer to be able to stay at home inside and read and do crafts and things. Winter should be a restful time- the frontier people used to use it as such. It has only been in the modern times that we have had the technology to compensate for the time mother nature intended to be restful. We all would be better off for a “Long winter’s nap.”

I didn’t roll out of bed until 9:15 this morning and the sun is sort of shining but it’s chilly outside. The cold/rain/sleet is supposed to come tomorrow. Since I moved my office, I’m less likely to hibernate now because the new office is WARM! However, the cat looks like Bailey when she sleeps with me.

As for Linc and Ram, I agree! You should get your “future books” rights back and shop them elsewhere or simply publish them yourself! I know several authors who are doing that, including Rocki! Now get that proposal finished and away, get back to the dragons, and talk to Ms. Agent about those rights. :D

Viki, you definitely don’t want salt on your pretty new car! I’ve never lived in snow, but hear it’s really rough on the pain and undercarriage.

Bailey really knows how to live the good life :-)

Dawn! That’s like the worst morning ever! I’m so sorry. How bad is your car? I can’t believe the cop called at 4am…you deserve to hibernate with Bailey, a drink and a great book! Or a vacation in a tropical location!

B.E., baby talk with animals is perfectly acceptable :-)

Brrr on your winter weather. We’re having high winds here, trees and power lines are going over. I’m staying home today.

Yep, I’ve thought of it. We’ve talked to two places (not Samhain) and the response was exactly the same: Don’t want a dropped series, but love her writing and will look at anything else she has. My agent and I talked about Samhain but held off, but I’ve never actually said, “Send it.” I get really torn between wanting to write the hunters stories and thinking that something new and fresh has a better chance.

And that was way more than you wanted to know, probably!

Kat I love that–a restful time! I tend to get a lot of writing done in the winter too. But yeah, I’m going to remember that and take time to relax by the fire place.

Silver, I hope getting up late means you slept well. I know you struggle with insomnia too.

I have the rights to my future WSH books–see my answer to B.E. I take it you saw Rocki release her self pub book yesterday? SPACE IN HIS HEART, is the title I think. I’m buying it! Looks like she’s already doing fabulous with it. And since I understand that Samhain recently changed their contract terms…hmm…we’ll see :-)

Jen, you might also consider Montake, which is Amazon’s publishing arm. That’s all something for you and MA to discuss! I guarantee there’s an audience out here hungry for more WSH books!

And no, that’s why I slept late. LOL It was 4 a.m. before I finally got to sleep. :( That said, I DID sleep in. There are times I can’t even do that. So now it’s laundry catch up and taking an easy day. ;) (I’m toying with the idea for a new series…we’ll talk.)

What about the Knight Agency? I know they branched out as well. I agree with the self publish deal as well. There are several authors doing that. A few that I’ve been reading for years have bloged about it over the last several months.

Dawn – I sorry about your car but am so glad you made it out of that mess safely. It is so true how just a couple inches of water can cause so much damage.

I’m not a writer, or publisher, or anything professional for that matter. Unless you count reading, now when it comes to reading I am Grade A Professional! However, I personally can not let the WSH go! I have probably re-read the series thus far 6-8 times. I LOVE them! I am crossing my fingers that something good happens and you get a miracle “go” for finishing the series! So I am totally going to be on board with anyone who votes getting them published somewhere else! :-D

That being said, I am so with Bailey on this one! Definitely hibernation time!!!! I am not a fan of cold weather at all! Stay safe witches!

Oh, Dawn! Those kind of days deserve a big, huge DO-OVER! Glad you were safe, though. The flooded car sucks but at least you are safe. Too many times, people caught like that end up washed away.

Stay safe, witches! Wind, rain, snow–yikes! You’d think we could control the weather better!

Thanks, witches, for all the condolences on the car situation. It sucks and it left me feeling sick to my stomach yesterday. Today the car got towed to a service center. I got the call from the adjuster on the way to pick up a rental that the car’s totalled. Not the news I was hoping for but not unexpected either. I ended up looking at new cars before and after picking up my rental. Settled on a Blue 2012 Chevy Cruze. My first brand new car. And it turns out the salesman’s dad went to school with my dad. He also knows my aunt and uncle. Talk about a small world. We also talked about jobs and he gave me a lead on a job opening. Here’s hoping my luck keeps getting better :)

Whoa, Dawn. That’s…just…whoa. Sometimes, bad things happen for a reason. Just think…if your alarm clock had been set right, if you hadn’t overslept, you wouldn’t have been caught in the flood, totaled your car, met the salesman, and ended up with a brand-new car! And a lead on a job! That’s awesome. May good things continue. :D

Dawn, I’m sorry about your totaled car, that really was bad news. But it sounds like you’re getting a really nice new car so at least something good came out of it.

Awesome on the job lead! I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you!
