Monday Roundup

Saturday was great! I went to my local RWA meeting where agent Helen Breitwieser from the Cornerstone Literary Agency was our speaker.  She came across as a very forward thinking agent. I chatted with her for a bit and liked her.

I also hung out with friends! We don’t get to do that often enough.

Then that night Wizard and I went to a party and had a blast.  This was our conversation the night before the party:

Wizard, “You’ll have fun. You’ll go around and chat with everyone like you always do, and I’ll stand in the corner checking my watch.”

Me, “We’re talking about me right? Not your girlfriend?”

Wizard, “You are my girlfriend, Witch.”

“But I’m a hermit!I like staying home.”

Wizard. “Suck it up. Girlfriends go to parties with their men.”

“Damn it.” I mean seriously, how do you argue with that?

I’ll have you know I put on high heels and went to the party. Am I the best girlfriend ever, or what?

How was your weekend?

Sounds like you had a fun at the party. It’s funny how we open up when we go to those things. I’m a hermit too but I’ve been told several times how much fun I am at parties – you just have to drag me to them ;).
My weekend wasn’t the best. My computers case fan is shot and we replaced it on Saturday. Only problem is the computer won’t recognize it and it only runs when it wants to. Then I started making fudge and only two batches have turned out right. I make 32 pounds of this stuff so not only is it expensive but takes tons of time.
On the positive note – I got the Christmas cards done :).

Sounds like you guys have fun with each other – which probably makes any gathering you’re at even better. =o)

This year I’m bowing out of the one party we get invited to every year. Too much going on – especially since I have to pick the kid up for semester break this week, too. And I won’t be in any mood to stand around schmoozing. No biggie. We’ll have our own fun right here at home. =o)

I spent the weekend writing and reading, like usual. If you’re into urban fantasy, you might want to check out Jes Battis. His stuff is pretty good. I just read the 3rd in his OSI series: Inhuman Resources. Next up: Infernal Affairs.

Oh Viki, what happened to the fudge? Did it just not set up right? That is extremely frustrating and expensive! I’m so sorry! Sometimes weather can cause problems when working with chocolate and other sensitive ingredients.

That is beyond annoying that the computer won’t recognize the new fan. I hope it decides to play nice.

We did have fun, thanks! I was just griping because it was a long day, but once I got off my lazy butt, I was so glad I went!

B.E., we had to bow out of one party this year for the same kind of reason. It happens, and you will enjoy having your kid home so it all works out.

I’ll check out Jes Battis! Right now I have a stack of reading to do, but I’m still interested.

Wizard and I are making a point of having fun and trying to keep the stress contained. It’s a challenge :-)

That’s pretty much how hubby and I’s convo went too! We had his company Christmas/awards party last night. I was running around like crazy trying to FIND my heels and dressy type clothes at 3 knowing we had to leave by 5:45……but we made it!

I baked like a 100 dozen cookies yesterday. And Lawyer Guy and I dug into the cold, dusty depths of the dungeon garage to find the tubs of Christmas decorations. Now I have no excuse to be the only dark house on the block. Well, one of two. The house across the street is for sale and empty. Maybe I should stick up a “For Sale” sign on mine? *looks shifty-eyed*

This Christmas season is going to be really low key for us. The kids are both working retail and Lawyer Guy’s health is keeping us close to home. It’s kind of nice for a change. (Me? Hate schmoozing with people I barely know? Uhm…yeah!) ;)

Silver, great idea on the For Sale sign! I like that!

You have that ability to talk to anyone anywhere. It’s amazing. My oldest son is like that too. I’m jealous of you both!
