Sugar High Weekend Roundup!

ONE MORE WEEK! I should get FORBIDDEN MAGIC up by Sunday, April 15th! Friday night, I got the edits back from the copy editor I hired.  I spent all day Saturday doing those, and now I’m doing the final proofing before sending it to the formatter.

So far, we’re on track! I’m very excited.

By the way, have you “liked” the Wing Slayer Hunter Fan Page on Facebook? Carla (my assistant) often has fun things going on there. And Carla just designed a new banner for my FB author page .

And lastly, you can go see the FORBIDDEN MAGIC reviews we have so far on Goodreads here, if you like.

That all consumed a lot of my weekend, but yesterday, all the boys were home. We had a blast, just hanging out in the hot tub, playing with Bailey and eating.

Oh. The. Eating!

We ended up having turkey by default. Then we had brownies and ice cream. Plus all the Easter Candy. My self control took a vacation this last week, and I want her back right now! Hopefully I’ll get back to my boring eating today. But yesterday was a great day!

Today Wizard and I are going with Broken Leg Boy to the new surgeon and see what he says.  Overall, BLB is doing better and better, so even if he does have the next surgery soon, he’s strong and ready, I think.

That was my weekend, now lets here about yours!

You had another very busy weekend even if you don’t add in Easter :).

I hope all goes well at the new surgeon for BLB. I’ll be thinking of you.

We had our deep fried turkey yesterday along with the ham that Joe’s wife brought. At the last moment he told her he just wasn’t up to coming and didn’t want us to bring things over to him. So I was kind of sad when Julie and the our niece and her boyfriend showed up w/o him. But on the positive side, Julie really needed to get away too. It was good for her and we all had a great time. I made up a nice plate for her to take back to Joe but he was still not up to eating when she got home. Cancer really sucks!

Loved FORBIDDEN MAGIC! The rest of you are all going to love it too :).

WOW! I can’t believe you fit all of that into one weekend!

We had a laid back weekend here. Friday the 11 year old & I went to the zoo. It was just too beautiful to be anywhere but outside. Saturday was a putz around the house day doing laundry, yard work, etc. Sunday was eat lots and lots of candy day. But we also had movie day. Since it was raining(yay), we went to see Wrath of the Titans and The Hunger Games. We decided to skip the special meal deal this year.

I had a lapsed week last week, too and now am back on the boring food plan as well. But, at least I know I have a hot date to look forward to on Sunday night. I have stuff going on all day Sunday, so I’ll have to wait for my date with Ram. :(

Viki, it’s terrible when family members have cancer. I’ve gone through it with my Mom and Grandmother. My heart goes out to your family.

    Good luck with new surgeon.

I can’t believe I hadn’t already liked your author page. Derp. Yay for family, fun and food! And Bailey, of course. Way to go on getting the copy edits stuff down. I can’t wait to snag a copy of Forbidden Magic. =o)

The weekend was quiet here. Lots of eating, lots of reading, with writing and my genealogy project thrown in here and there. I totally hear you on the need to get back on the diet-wagon. Ugh. I blame the cupcakes. Evil evil mini-chocolate devil bombs.

Good luck at the surgeon. I hope everything has healed so well the doc tells you he doesn’t need as much surgery as originally thought. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Viki- Joe and his family sound like troopers. It is also really important for all of them to have the type of outside support you have been giving all of them. A place to go to that provides you with a few moments of being away is so critical for some one who is dealing with illness and those around them.

I am lucky enough to have second families for my kids to retreat to and I hide in my world of books. For my husband his computer games are where he can control a world not his own. They are his escape from his own illness.

I got a call friday night to work as a security guard at a local plant day time sat and sun. Holiday pay and 8 hours of reading. I took that job fast. My left arm and the left side of my face got sunburned from sitting in the security truck on saturday. Sunday I truned the truck around and burnt the right side.

Jen 7 days till I can get Ram’s story. I am not counting today.
How and where is best to get it from in E-format if I don’t yet own a reader? May be I will be able to spend my weekend pay on one.

I left Linc a message at the Lair. ;) Glad y’all had such a wonderful weekend! We were pretty low key. Met up with the family at an Irish pub for dinner last night to celebrate Easter and Baseball Boy’s birthday. Yay for fish and chips and beer. Keeping my fingers crossed for good news on BLB from the new surgeon.

I can’t wait to get my hands on FORBIDDEN MAGIC!!! I’ve “cleared the decks” on my Fire so I can read it the moment it’s available. :D

Thanks for all the well wishes. It’s true that when you or a family member are ill you often need a place to escape. Having had cancer I can see both sides and want to offer as much support as they will accept. It was so nice to see Julie take some time for herself.

You guys are going to love FORBIDDEN MAGIC!

As for Facebook – I know I had already liked the author page a long time ago and yet I had to re-like it today. Facebook makes all these “improvements” that seem to screw things up.

Viki, thanks for the good thoughts on BLB. We’re back, and the new surgeon told us the same thing, “This is a bad injury.” We’re doing an MRI next and will go from there. The good news is that the original surgery was very good, so he’s healing. It’s just a very difficult injury to recover from.

I’m so sorry about Joe not feeling well enough to come. Cancer is so cruel that way. AT least turkey is good left over, so maybe he’ll feel up to eating some of it today. And I’m glad Julie was able to go and be surrounded by family.

Thank you so much on FORBIDDEN MAGIC!

Julie, the zoo sounds like great fun. Plus movie day–a very nice weekend.

We like the new surgeon, so that’s a good thing.

I’m happy to hear you’re looking forward to FORBIDDEN MAGIC!

B.E., it’s all too easy to let out eating habits get out of control, isn’t it? Sheesh!

Sounds like you had a good weekend. Interesting that you’re doing genealogy now. A lot of people are getting into that.

The visit with the surgeon was fine, he reaffirmed that it’s a bad injury unfortunately. But we’re going to do an MRI and try to get a better look before making a treatment plan.

Kat, I love your ingenuity! Get burned on one side so you turn the truck around and burn the other–LOLOL!!!

And it’s vital, as you said, for caregivers to get a break and have a strong support system.

For Ram, I’m pretty sure there’s an option on Amazon Kindle to download the file in a PDF and read it on your computer. I’ll try to remember to go over and take a look this week to find out for sure.

Silver, I’ll have to go look for that message :-)

I really hope you and Lawyer Guy are feeling better. Sounds like you had fun with the only and baseball boy for his birthday. Funny, we were just talking the other night about we haven’t had fish n chips in years.

You’re so lucky with your Kindle Fire. Mine is “just” a Kindle.

Viki, I’m sure Julie appreciates how much you understand what Joe and she are going through. It’s probably a relief to talk to someone who has “been there” to some degree.

    Thanks again on FM!

No kidding on FB and the improvements!

Jenn – Poor BLB. It’s great news to hear that the initial surgery was done so expertly that he’s healing well. This should make the follow-up surgery go smoothly, right? Did the doc give you any idea when this second surgery will be?

I forgot to ask if Bailey had an Easter basket and what if anything (yeah right, we all know the bunny brought him something :)) did he get?

Viki, the doctor wants to see the MRI before he decides to do any surgery–he doesn’t want to go in there and find out fragments aren’t the problem. So I have no idea at this point. We liked him fine though, so we’re willing to wait and see what the MRI shows.

LOL on Bailey! I didn’t find anything for Bailey this year. Normally I would have, but the only place I went is Target, and he has all those toys. And Bailey didn’t mind, he was happy to just be hanging with us and chasing lizards in the back yard. But I owe him a toy or three.

What about Pee Wee? Did you get him anything?
