I’m Back!!!

Hey! I so missed you all! Conference turned out to be fabulous. I’ll give you the book end photos:

First, Laura Wright and I hosted a small Cocktails with Laura and Jen (a FaceBook Event). Here’s a pic from that:

I’m not going to try to name everyone there, but Laura is at the head of the table, and I’m to her left. It was so much fun.

And for the end, the big awards night, here I am with Tessa Dare after she won the RITA for her book A KNIGHT TO SURRENDER (I’m on the left, and Tessa is on the right holding he well deserved RITA statue)

A few highlights:

–The Literacy Signing surprised me.  Many people came up to me and asked that I keep writing The Wing Slayer Hunters, which really touched me.  And I had an even bigger surprise, but that one I’m not talking about, LOL!

— The National Readers Choice Award ceremony/buffet Thursday morning. That was lovely! I was a double finalist, but did not win. Huge congrats to JD Tyler who won for PRIMAL LAW!!

–Lunch with Laura Wright, Elisabeth Naughton and Alexandra Ivy.  Smart, funny and super talented women!

–Friday I had lunch with Silver, and really enjoyed that. Then onto the Dialogue workshop with Laura Wright, Alexandra Ivy,  Darynda Jones, Elisabeth Naughton, Sylvia Day and myself.  The audience members were spectacular! They wrote out dialogue in five minutes and shared it with us. Silver rocked the house with her piece!

–Saturday I hit some great workshops and attended the glittery RITA/Golden Heart Awards in the evening.

I saw a ton of friends as well. Plus while I only got to a half dozen workshops, they were extremely beneficial.

Now I’m ready to work! I’m writing CAGE MAGIC while waiting for revisions on the Entangled book, and have a few other things in the air.

So…now lets talk about you all! What have you been doing?

Wow – that sounds like such a great time. I’m thinking the workshop on Friday was wicked fun with all you. Based on blogs/Twitter/Facebook all of you women are a riot so I hope you got some work done ;).

I love your dress. No wonder Wizard wanted to come along.

I’m so glad that so many people love the Wing Slayers like we all do :).

My weekend was filled with Andrew moving back in. And that is what he has done so far. Just dumped stuff all over the place. He will be organizing and putting stuff away tomorrow or I’ll pop him one. See, I now have a huge chair in the center of the foyer covered in clothes and boxes all around. Hope we don’t need to use the front door ;). I also have an electrician coming Tuesday so I need a pathway. It is good knowing that Andrew is home safe.

Rest up and have a great week.

You look awesome up there and in all those pictures I’ve been seeing on FB. So I’m guessing that you’re finally feeling better. Yay! Of course people want you to keep writing Wing Slayers. They’re awesome and you have readers of incredible taste and wisdom. ;o)

And now that you’re feeling better and your spirit is re-energized, get to work. :whipcrack:

Of course, I should be using that whip on myself. As the end of July approaches, I should be working my tail off to get this thing done like I said I would. Only once I realized that I’d have to write about 5K a day to get it done by August, my gumption freaked out and I’m lucky if I’m averaging a K a day. I’ll just have to readjust my expectations and jumpstart my gumption somehow.

Welcome back! I’m glad you had fun at conference. You look great in all of the pics!

Sounds like you had a much better week than I did. I spent the last six days working. Almost 60 hrs in 6 days. By the time I came home every day, I was too tired to do anything but shower, eat dinner and collapse in a chair. I’m glad to be off for three days this week. Tomorrow, my cousin, my friend and I are off to Indy for a Buffett concert. YAY! I’m definitely going to need a “frozen concoction” or two to help me hang on :D

    Happy Monday, witches!

Hi Viki! So the boy is officially home now. I can so relate to their stuff all over the place. Maybe we never actually get our houses back, maybe that’s just a myth :-)

The workshop was fun for me, I hope others had fun too!

Thanks on the dress. I’ve had it a few years, bought it on closeout for some ridiculously low price that I just stumbled onto by accident.

An electrician, huh, are you having the same issues as before?

B.E., thanks, I’m feeling better. I won’t look quite as drawn once I’m working out regularly again. But I’m getting there.

I did work at Conference–but unfortunately that turned out to be more problem solving/plotting than writing pages. That’s just how it goes though.

You need to just keep typing! For me, I don’t track daily pages or word count. I just keep pushing to find the right way to tell my characters story, while keeping a casual eye on where I am so I can hit the approximate word count I need. If I try to write X number of words a day, it becomes about the goal and not the story for me. But you have to do with works for you!

Dawn, you need the days off and the fun! (And the frozen concoction!) Your schedule is so grueling, I don’t know how you do it.

    Have fun at the concert!

Hey Jenn – What a great find the dress was :).

No, not having major electrical problems. I’m just having more outlets put in into the basement so I can remove the extension chords that I’ve been using for the past 15 yrs. Figure if Jon wants to sell the house, orange chords allover the place would not be good. On the other hand, I like it here so maybe they should stay ;).

Viki, I like your plan, LOL! But the new outlets will make it nicer if you do stay there :-)
