Blogging Question

I’m not doing a worthy guy today. I have a serious question: What, if anything, would you guys like to talk about here? We can continue with the casual chatting and promo as I have been. Or I can do fewer blogs, but have them more craft and business focused. Or maybe the blog just run it’s course?  Or do you have other things you’d like to see?

Thanks!

I love the casual fun blog. You give us a bit of everything. I’d keep it as is.

I hope you have a great day.

I like the blog the way it is, but if you’re trying to attract new visitors, maybe the regulars liking it isn’t enough. I was watching Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares on BBC America (loving the new satellite TV, btw) and the restaurant he was saving kept hammering about how the regulars wouldn’t like Gordon’s ideas. But the restaurant was failing relying on those few regulars.

I don’t know how well that translates to blogging. And I keep hearing that blogging is a dying medium. But it couldn’t hurt to try some new things – if you’re up to it and have the time and the energy. Work a little witch magic. Get a few guest bloggers in. Have a contest or two. And still keep it fun and casual, since that works for you.

And, as much as I hate to think it, you might need to start shifting the focus of the blog away from the Wing Slayers (:sob:) toward your current books.

I know I don’t want to see the blog go away, though. I love it here.

I agree with BE and Vikki. I like the casual fun. But BE is correct on the blog focus needs to reflect more of you and your other work rather than just ws. Your writing is expanding so should your site. Every once in a while the hot guys are a great pick me up but that is not the reason I stop by on Wed. I like chatting and fact that you share and respond to us.

B.E., thanks! I’m shifting the website from paranormal, but there’s been a huge delay with my web designer. The one things I kind of hate to give up are witch/wizard stories simply because those are true.

Energy is a huge problem for me with my work load. Easy fun posts keep me from having to think too much.

BTW, my stats tell me there’s a pretty good readership–they just don’t comment. Which is fine, people should do what works for them.

Kat, thanks! I’m tried of doing hot guys just because it takes so long to find and buy rights to the images. So yeah, I’m thinking about it.

Eventually the look of the website will shift from strckly paranormal-focused. Hopefully soon!

All of the above! I agree with what everyone said. I love the “family” atmosphere here–in your style and in the group of regulars. A lot of people don’t respond/comment to blogs, but they read regularly. Lurkers are a good thing. At the same time, finding entertaining stuff to say can be a pain. Is blogging going the way of the dodo bird in favor of “lighter mass media”? I don’t know. I do know I’d miss my daily blog stops. It’s like gathering in the break room at work (if I still worked outside the house  ) I’m not a fan of FB but try to have at least some presence there. Same with twitter and G+. Touching base with people used to be so simple when all we had was blogs! :-P Ah well.

Bottom line, you need to do what’s right for you, Jen! The rest of us will follow along wherever you go. :-D

Sorry for the website delay. Been there, done that.

    B. E. and Silver are spot on Jenn. You do what’s right for you. We are a family and will follow your lead :). Working that witch magic always pays off.

I would keep it as is. It gives a bit of everything and it allows everyone to know how you are doing and what you are doing with their favorites series, or favorite book(s). :)

I love our casual chats. I miss them now that I have a 9-5 job and can’t stop by as often as I used to. That said, you should do what feels right for you.

Silver, appreciate the support! The website thing is annoying but it happens. I was hoping to get the preview this week when I had time.

    All this input is helpful!
