Wednesday Worthy

Why is starting a new book so hard? Never mind, this is the same merry-go-round of nuttiness I always to through. We all know I ‘m only pretending I can write.

And in that vein, yesterday morning Carla sent me a kick ass review from Romance Junkies. I’m reading it and getting choked up (I don’t think it’s posted yet–it takes a while) then I emailed Carla back:

“What an awesome review! I’m stunned!! And you’re laughing at me for all my stress and worry, aren’t you?” Even though Carla’s on the east coast, I swear I heard her laughing at me all the way on the west coast. I mean she had to deal with my absolute certainty that POSSESSION was horrible. So much so that I didn’t want to send it out for reviews. This is the crap Carla has to deal with from me.

In about five seconds I got this response: “LOL!  I told you that you were worrying for nothing!”

Then she went onto to say nice things. But come on, can’t you just read the “I should get paid a lot more for dealing with your  brand of pure CRAZY”  in there???  But in my defense, she hadn’t read the book so how would she know? No one read the book except my editor. I hid it from everyone was else because I was terrified it sucked.

Carla really is awesomely patient with my, umm, slight tendency to worry :-) She deserves to laugh at me every chance she gets.

And moving on, Angela at Under the Covers blog messaged me asking who I think should play Sloane in a movie. So we talked about it and she found the perfect picture. But I’m not going show that picture as I think she’s using it for something she’s doing (even though I want to so bad I’m dying over here!), so I’ll show you guys some other pics of who we choose: Joe Manganiello

So what do you guys think, is he worthy?

Absolutely! Joe makes the perfect Sloane. Great choice.

Carla was right. I think I heard some laughter yesterday ;). I think we all laughed a bit when we read THE POSSESSION and thinking how worried you were over it’s success. Well now you know – it’s REALLY good :)!

Honestly if you didn’t worry and obsess over your work I’d be worried. I think that’s a sign of an artist at work.

I’m having coffee today with my girlfriend for the last time at Caribou. They close on Saturday :( and become Peet’s coffee in July. No idea what we’ll do until then and we certainly hope the coffee will be good.

All the best in the starting of your new book.

    Have a wonderful day :)!

He looks pretty worthy. Not quite what I had in my head for Sloane, but he’s your creation. (And no, I can’t find pics because the image in my head doesn’t look like anyone else. Sloane is his own man, baby.) It’s interesting to see what the author’s image is vs what my image is – as long as seeing it doesn’t screw mine up for me. This one didn’t. Yay.

Congratulations on the awesome review. I’m pretty sure that unless you slipped a gear and somehow forgot how to write, that it’s an awesome book and the review is well deserved. So there. =op

He’s definitely worthy. He could follow me home any time :D

I think you understated your tendency to worry just a bit ;) And we all know you do more than “pretend” you know how to write. We wouldn’t keep reading your books if that was the case! I loved POSSESION and can’t wait to read the next one.

    Happy Hump Day!

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAAHA! I’m with Carla. So there. ;) with a side of :P

Ahhhh, say it’s so, Joe. I’ve been a Joe fangirl forever. But Sloane? I’m not sure Joe is right. I’m really curious as to who you really want in the role. I have a picture of him in my head but I haven’t come up with an actor who does it for me yet. There was that one pic I shared with you but he’s a model, not an actor. Hrmmmm. I may have to contemplate this.

Viki, thanks and laugh away :-) I can’t even describe how much I worry about letting down both my characters and readers. It’s a million times worse on my self published works because I have full control. With publishers, I pretty much do what they want me for various reasons.

Is Caribou closed on *just* Saturday or for good? I love coffee shops! They are the best place for meeting friends and hanging out. Have fun with your girlfriend!

Thanks on starting the book. It has to happen today (if I ever get all the social media stuff done!)

B.E., I’ve only seen one pic that comes close to Sloane in my head and that was a model not an actor. The problem for me is I don’t quite “see” my characters as much as a feel and hear them. Weird, I know.

I feel like I’ve slipped a gear this week in writing :-)

Thank you Dawn! I appreciate that! Most of the time I fake it until I make it :-)

Let me know if Joe follows you home, LOL!

Silver, yeah, I knew you’d laugh. It’s okay, I’m used to it. Just imagine what Carla goes though. Poor girl. She’s rarely ever on my blog, but I’m sure she’d appreciate the sympathy.

I have yet to see an actor who completely fits Sloane for me. What I like about Joe is he has the drive to hone his body and carries himself with confidence. Joe could pull it off I imagine. But I seriously doubt any one would fit the man in my head :-)

Jenn – Caribou is closing for good. They sold the shops to a German company. They closed 1/2 of the stores, kept 1/4 and sold 1/4 to Peet’s coffee. We’re fortunate that ours was sold to Peet’s. It will be closed for a month during the change over.
Wow, I don’t see characters while I’m reading either. Like you I kind of feel them.

Not weird at all, Jen. I don’t get a clear visual on my characters either. I hear them and feel them – like I’m looking at the world through them. LOL, maybe I should have them check themselves out in a mirror sometime, so I get a picture.

Girlfriend, I done slipped all my gears and went rolling off into the woods today. You are not alone. Must be that kind of week.
