Weekend Roundup

This weekend was another blur! Middle Son brought Bailey over Thursday night, and we took him home last night. Bailey was good as gold, here he is once again waiting for me to get done working so we can play:

Bailey thinks work is stupid

Bailey’s absolute favorite thing now is Lizard Hunting.  This time, he actually caught two of them.  The first time, I was stunned. Bailey snatched up the lizard, turned to me–and I swear–SMILED with a lizard in his mouth.

Ugh. So I yelled, “Bailey drop it.”

He dropped it, then picked it back up and showed me again. Double Ugh. “Drop it Bailey!”

We repeated the same routine until I finally picked up Bailey and the lizard ran off. For whatever reason, Bailey wasn’t really trying to hurt him, he just wanted to play.  I’ve seen Bailey rip through a hard plastic fence with his teeth once–his teeth are brutal if he chooses. So I’m assuming he just wanted to play.

The second time Bailey caught a lizard (seriously this NEVER happens, so I’m not sure why he happened to catch two this weekend), Wizard was with me and bellowed, “It’s in his mouth. He’s got it in his mouth!”

Now I’m trying to tell Bailey to drop it while laughing at Wizard’s reaction.  I’d told Wizard about the first lizard Bailey caught so how exactly did he think Bailey caught it–with a net? Anyway, Bailey dropped the lizard and I made him go in the house to give the lizards a chance to regroup.

Saturday, I went to my RWA meeting and had a great time seeing old friends. I’m so glad I went! As usually happens, I got a lot of ideas that are helping me with my book.

Sunday BLB (youngest son) came out to hang with Bailey. Then BLB had some homework to do and I found him in MY upstairs office using MY special chair:

In my office chair

Okay that’s not really BLB, that’s Frank.  BLB is much bigger than Frank :-) I found Frank when I was cleaning out closets. But that is my chair that I love so much. It’s perfect and BLB loved it too, and even tried to talk me into giving it to him. Not happening!

I managed to get some writing done. But these next three weeks are going to be a major writing marathon for me.

So how was your weekend?

OMG is Bailey cute! Love the toy in his mouth – I can see the lizard there too :). What a good hunter he has become. You know it takes a lot of time to train a good hunting dog and Bailey seems to have taught himself. He even has a soft mouth :). We had a collie that always caught things but didn’t hurt them. Like you think with Bailey, they just want to play.

Wizard is so funny. You really do need to put together a little journal of entries just so future generations can enjoy you two to the max.

Glad you had a good time at your meeting. Bet it felt great to get out for a bit.

That chair does look really comfortable :).

Our b-day dinner for DIL was fantastic. Really expensive but all the food was incredible.

I hope you have a great day.

Aww. Bailey’s such a good boy. Max is my lizard catcher – but he’s not interested in playing. Luckily, he only gets them if they come into his garage. It’s good that Bailey is gentle with the little buggers. =o)

Saturday was a wash. I spent yesterday cleaning leaves out of my flower beds. Then after a week of not being able to see the next bit of my story, I made myself sit down and write. Several crappy paragraphs in, I got a flash of insight from some offhand comment on FB, and I was off like a shot. I still have to finish the scene, but the bones are there.

It is going to get up to 60 degrees here today so my spring cleaning to get spring to come idea must have worked.

Bailey is funny. He and the lizards remind me of the old toco bell commercial with the dog and Godzilla.

It is Monday and my mind makes some really strange jumps. OK off to paperwork land.

Viki, I never thought of that about a soft mouth, but now that you mention in, I think Min Pins were bred to hunt rats. Maybe that has something to do with it.

In our every day life, we’re not all that interesting–it’s the snippets that are funny :-) But Wizard’s expression when Bailey caught that Lizard was priceless!

So glad your dinner turned out delicious for daughter in law’s birthday. New-to-us restaurants can be hit or miss. And sometimes, it’s worth the expense.

B.E., I bet Max isn’t gentle! He’s a total cat :-) I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t want to see a lizard he’s spent quality time with. I had a hard enough time with Bailey and he was being gentle.

I so hear you on not knowing the next part in your story. But I do exactly what you did–sit down and try to force it. Eventually it comes :-)

Kat, yay on Spring coming your way!

LOL on Taco Bell commercial. Ironically, last night while taking Bailey home we passes a small taco place and I asked Bailey if he wanted a taco since he’s a taco bell kind of dog. Bailey was not amused, but Wizard was :-)

Sounds like you had a great weekend. I love the Bailey pic. He looks so cute :)

My weekend was pretty boring. I did some laundry and a bit of cleaning. The rest of the weekend I spent playing games on my phone and watching tv.

It’s supposed to be in the 50s here today. But then we’re supposed to get 3-6 inches of snow Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. And then it’s only going to be a high of 20 on Thursday! Blech!!! We already broke the record for snowfall in a single season this winter. With the next storm, we’re probably going to be over 80 inches for the year. I think the news said our normal is around 32-34 inches.

I’m a day late. My deadline is eating my lunch and RL is not exactly serving up dessert. Ah well. Friday. If I can survive to Friday!

I love your Bailey stories. :) I’ll be back on track with blog visits soon!

Dawn, OMG 80 inches? I can’t even comprehend that! You need a break!

Silver, you have my sympathies! Trying to do revisions with a recovering husband underfoot, and other real life distractions is a major trial. Hang in there!
