Happy Friday!

I don’t know how we can be at Friday again!  The last week was a blur. We had the funeral for Wizard’s aunt yesterday which was both wonderful and exhausting. You all know how it goes–so great to see relatives and loved ones and to celebrate a life-well-lived of someone we all love, but sad and tiring too.

In good news, there’s a good chance that after four long weeks of fighting and struggling I will actually get my medication today. I’m happy about that.

I’m back at work today as well. This poor book–life has been interrupting with alarming regularity.  And the book has been a struggle, a lot like SINFUL MAGIC (book 4 in the Wing Slayer Series) was.  And yet these two characters are digging hard in my subconscious, trying to tell me to get out of their way and let them tell their story. I’m getting closer every day–I just hope I get it right.  Trying to pack this story into a shorter (category) length is a challenge.

So I haven’t asked this in a while–what are you all reading? I just finished ROCKED by Taryn Elliot and Cari Quinn. It was interesting, good to read at 2am when I had insomnia, but not totally compelling for me.

Wednesday Worthy

I’m back and can’t believe it’s Wednesday! The weekend flew by! Sunday we had a blast celebrating Middle Son’s birthday–but by Sunday night I was exhausted.  When all the kids, their girls and Bailey are here, it’s just too much fun.

And I have a tip for you all. Never, under any circumstances, should you let BLB (youngest son, who is an adult) make you a drink. He offered to make me one while we were in the kitchen cooking. I said, “Okay sure, go ahead and make me a gin and tonic.”

I kind of forgot about it while I was prepping the food, then I noticed the drink and took a sip. Holy Crap! I said, “BLB how much gin did you put in here?”

He shrugged. “I didn’t know where the shot glass was so I just poured it in.” Then me smirked–a lot like his dad (and the guy in the picture below).

While I’m rolling my eyes trying to figure out if I should call a hazmat team, to safely dispose of the drink, Wizard strolls in the kitchen, scooped up the glass and takes a sip. “Tastes fine to me. You don’t want it?”

I swear Wizard has a cast iron stomach and super-sized metabolism. “Go right ahead, it’s all yours.”

Wizard took the drink outside to resume supervising Middle Son and his girl friend –who were doing something with beer to the carne asada marinaded skirt steak on the grill. Now I realized why Wizard stole my drink–he needed the alcohol to dull the panic. Last time Middle Son’s girl friend “doctored” up his hamburger meat, poor Wizard almost had a stroke. Now they were not only messing his food but his beer and his beloved BBQ.  Yep, he needed that drink more than me!

The carne asada fajitas turned out awesome! Even Wizard approved!

I’m back at work now, writing as quickly as I can on EXPOSING THE HEIRESS and gearing up for the release of HER TEMPORARY HERO on July 28th. Everyone is excited about HER TEMPORARY HERO, so I hope that’s a good sign. In the end, though, it’s up the readers to decide.

Tomorrow we have the funeral for Wizard’s aunt, so that will be a day off work to be with family.

And now switching gears, our Wednesday Worthy Candidate came to us with a fully-loaded smirk:

Spin Cycle Edition

Sorry I’m late, we had a death in the family. Wizard’s aunt suddenly passed away. It was a shock, we’re all still trying to absorb it.  I have to say this year feels a lot like being in the spin cycle of a washing machine. There’s been so much going on that I just can’t keep up. But as far as Wizard’s aunt, as hard as it is, she lived a full life and we are going to celebrate that.

This weekend the boys are coming out for Middle Son’s birthday–and this is the time for us to all let go and have fun. Whenever we lose someone, it makes us all achingly aware of how fragile life can be. It’s important to grab on and create those memories that will bond us in the present and sustain us in the future. Otherwise, Wizard will be out helping his mom (it’s her sister that passed) with whatever needs to be done to handle his aunt’s passing.

What are you doing this weekend? I hope whatever it is, you have a great one!

P.S. Monday is Memorial Day here in the states, and with all that’s happening I’m not sure I’ll get a post up.

Wednesday Worthy

Ah the joys of being a writer–so I got some QA Edits on HER TEMPORARY HERO (formally THE COWBOY MARINE). Those are when another editor reads over the book and give some comments on what she/he thinks might not be working. There were very few comments and I did all those in less than a day.

I have one more thing to fix (not from the QA editor, but something my editor and I discussed yesterday) that takes a little thought. I’ ll work on that body and get this turned back in by Thursday because I thrive under pressure, LOL! (Shut up Wizard–downing gallons of coffee is the very definition of thriving! Look it up!)

In other news, Biker Witch came through the procedure on her back fine. Not we’re crossing our fingers that it works and in a few weeks, she’ll be good as new.

Now moving on, here is our candidate for Wednesday Worthy:

Weekend Roundup

I broke down and ordered a bathing suit online. I can’t find anything in stores so I’m trying this suit (FYI, I had a discount!): It’s a total crap-shoot. I’m not sure I even ordered the right size (I’m bigger than I want to admit now). If it works, then I can add a pair of shorts, or even a maxi skirt that Wizard hates and be good to go if we’re having a pool day.  Fingers crossed!

Saturday I went to lunch and a little shopping with a friend, it was awesome to get out. Sunday–I thought of a solution to a book issue–now if it works, I’m going to be very happy. Then Wizard came home early from racing so we went in the Jacuzzi, made ribs and really relaxed. Then I went back to work :-)

I’m still trying to locate the Super Secret Password to get my medication. The insurance got the Pre-Certification but then decided that something isn’t correct.  Then the lady on the phone lectured me about not being proactive enough while the theme to Jaws played in my head.  I’m not sure how much more proactive I could while retaining my law-abiding citizen status.  It’s all good though because Special K wants to start a new business providing therapy for stressed out humans–sit the human in a room full of puppies. (She’s kidding, she sent me a picture of a woman covered in squirming puppies and told me that was her business plan which made me laugh). Who needs medication in a room full of puppies? Well unless you have allergies to puppy fur–then maybe :-)

Today Biker Witch is having a procedure done to help her with her klutziness oops, I meant back pain.  Send positive wishes her way–having me for a sister is a big enough pain, she needs to get free of this pain she’s been suffering for weeks now.

How was your weekend?

Happy Friday!

This is a quickie blog. I’m taking a couple hours on Saturday to have lunch and a bit of shopping with a friend. But otherwise, it’s me against the book! But I wanted to take the time to wish you all a Happy Friday! And I hope you have a great weekend!

I really will be around more once I get this book done :-)

Wednesday Worthy

I’m working! Trying so hard to beat the crap out of this book. My goal is simple– take out everything I wouldn’t want to read, but leave enough to keep the story working.  So easy to say…so hard to do :-)

Now I have a Totally Random Rant:

I have an HMO insurance, and we’ve been spending weeks now trying to get a medication I’ve been on filled. For this particular medication, I am forced to go to the Insurance Mail Order Pharmacy. They keep saying they need Pre-Certification, and my RA doc (who writes the prescriptions) keeps giving it too them.

Then this month the insurance pharmacy refused to refill it saying they didn’t have the Pre-Certification.

Crap-On-A-Stick  So I go to my RA doc, and they give them the paperwork AGAIN. A week later the insurance pharmacy still won’t fill it and the office calls to ask them why not.

“Oh, we need that from the primary care physician.”

REALLY?? This has been going on since Freaking January, and NOW you tell us that? After we’ve been submitting and resubmitting the paperwork

And of course, there’s a problem. My primary care–not well known form their “care.” Sigh, I have an appointment with them a week from Friday to beg them to do it. As it is, I’m on some emergency medication my RA doc was able to get for me, and we’re crossing our fingers it works.

This is what my year has been like–not bad, just so, so, soooo frustrating. This is just one example of at least a dozen super frustrating-major-time-suck issues. And much of the reason why this poor book is taking me twice as long to write as it normally would.

I know…in the scheme of things this is minor. I’m fine, and whatever happens, we’ll manage it. I’m just ranting. And now I’ll return you to your regularly schedule blog…

Here’s our Wednesday Worthy Candidate for today (I put himn on FB last week, but I don’t *think* I posted him here.

handsome muscular man

So what do you think, is he worthy?
