Lately the news in the real world completely sucks. But here on this blog we can escape that reality for a while 
So I’m more than 200 pages into the first draft of CAGE MAGIC, probably about mid book. It’s a challenge, but one I’m going to try to tame into an emotional and compelling story. I’m weaving in a bit of Ram and Ginny as their stories intersect with Linc and Eli before we get to their book. So…that’s what I’m doing. Oh and I’ve contacted my cover designer, we’re going to work on that in November.
I’m also really excited about the contemporary series! There will be a few characters from Sloane’s world there, but will be set around a rock band. Needless to say, it’s really hard to keep all the voices in my head under control. Hope I can do this all as fast as I want to!

The world events are just horrid. Thank heaven for authors and I can get away from it all because in truth I’m a news junkie. So again, Thank You.
I can see the voices spinning in your head. You have Linc and that group as well as the new guys with some returning friends having fun playing around. So how do you manage it? When one speaks louder you go work on that book? I’ve always wondered how you guys keep it all together when working on more than one project at a time.
I’m not feeling this guy. Sorry.

Go you! I know you can do this. You’re a rock star. Both books are going to be amazing. I cannot wait to read them. (But mostly I can’t wait to read the WingSlayer Hunters again – because I know them already. I’ve missed those guys.)
Ugh, it’s so frustrating not being able to get the words out faster. I don’t know about you, but I think I could use another couple sets of hands. Of course then I’d turn into the Hindu goddess of writing. LOL
This one’s not doing it for me either. Sorry. I’ve set the genie aside for proofreading, but I still have the engineer hanging out in my head.

Yeah, no. This guy looks a little pouty and high maintenance to me. Maybe a rogue but not a Wingslayer (YES! Will have to go back and reread all the books. WOOT!) and not really anybody in your upcoming books. Or mine.
I’m coming up on the downside of the current WIP. I hope to hit The End today and then I have lots of blanks to fill in and holes to plug in the continuity. Typical for me.
Viki, we each have a process. I get all sorts of characters jammering at me. I have a program where I can keep track of all that, and will break to write a quick scene for later use if a character just won’t shut up. Or when characters do shut up, I’ll work on something else briefly just to show them they aren’t in charge.

Woohoo for WS! Love those guys. But this guy in the pic, meh. To lean.
I love how you juggle books and characters, I’m taking notes on how you do it all.
Oh and I have a cover designer for mine in Oct…I’m so excited! :D:D
And you’re right, I can edit and write at same time. Wrote on new story, edited on the other one yesterday. I figured out you use different parts of your brain for each. Who knew? Well…I’m sure you and Silver did. I’m a noob.

No on the candidate.
My son yesterday asked me if it ever felt hopeless in trying to change the world. I let him know that I know I can’t change the world. I can only influence in a positive way the people I come in contact with and that gives me hope.
Yea for all the writing out there. As a reader if I didn’t have the other worlds created in books- It would be a lot harder to be positive in the real one.

Viki, yeah, this guy’s getting kicked to the curb. Maybe he can redeem himself when he wipes that pout off his face. Oddly enough I didn’t see that in the small sample pic. My bad!
I can be a news junkie, but I’m refusing to do it now. It’s too awful and makes me infuriated and helpless at the same time.
I tease a lot about the voices in my head, and I really do “hear” my characters. That said, it’s like dealing with any big project, break it down, prioritize then concentrate. I make notes in files if I have ideas, then go back to my current project. That part I handle better than where I am now–middle for the books mess. My brain wants it all organized and laid out in clear and concise steps. But that’s not how the creative process works for me. Instead I work back and forth, take a few wrong turns until I find the story. So for me, the real push/pull anxiety comes in the constant battle between my need to control and organize vs my creative side floundering around until it stumbles on the story. And that was probably WAY more than you ever wanted to know.

B.E., me a rock star? Thank you, that made me laugh! I wish, but mostly, I’m pure determination. My motto is “Rock on” meaning I just keep trying, and I remind myself to be thankful that I get to do what I love. And that I have a family and friends (you guys!) who support me.
I’ve been a bit surprised and humbled the reaction to me announcing I’m going to write the WSH. It’s awesome!
You do great at switching between projects! Keep going! Have you submitted anything lately?

Silver, lolol on your process! That battle for control cracks me up. You’re also a very fast writer, something I envy!
Congrats on getting so close to the end! I finding plugging holes and as one of my friends calls it “fluffing” is easier if I can get to the end first. Hope that works for you.

Kat, what a great lesson you’re teaching your son!
