Weekend Roundup!

Friday took one of this weird turns that left me yelling out, “PLOT TWIST!”   What this means is that my editor asked me to stopped revising Exposing The Heiress until we get a gltich sorted out, probably today or tomorrow, I hope. Everything will be fine, it’s just, well, one of those unexpected plot twists :-) When I have a clearer picture, then I’ll tell you all more.

See how fun my job is? Sometimes I’m so confused, LOL!

The weekend was really nice. Biker Witch and I had a great time the mall, including a lot of chocolate cake to celebrate her birthday.

Wizard is so happy to be retired, but I think we’re both trying to actually get our heads around the fact that he really is retired now.  I’d say where in the honeymoon faze right now, not really getting on each other’s nerves. In a couple weeks, I think we’ll be in the You’re Breathing My Air stage :-)

Okay I have the final cover for CAGED MAGIC but I can’t show it. Blame Carla (my assistant). She’s cooking up some cover reveal for either the holidays or New Years or something. I showed her the cover, then got this insanely excited email back rattling off all these ideas…and I’m like. “Carla, switch to decaf, dude!”

She laughed, and said she was wired. No kidding!! But I love her enthusiasm. She’s a huge WSH fan, so I’m not complaining. But no way am I reading that email again–promo always scares me. I just get out of her way and let her do her thing, then she bullies me into doing whatever it is I need to to. It’s a crazy process but it works for us. The point of this is, it’s totally Carla’s fault we’ve got the cover on lockdown, LOL!

And while I’m waiting for Exposing her Heiress to get sorted out, I’m going back to work on the Wing Slayers.

So how was your weekend?

Plot twist – okay can’t wait for more info :). It’s good to know that Linc is happily helping you fill your work day while the twist is being addressed. He’s a giving guy like that ;).

Happy Birthday to Biker Witch! Glad you two had a great time and chocolate cake too – yum!

Oh, bringing up cake, how about that recipe you mentioned on FB for Kahlua cupcakes? Nice that Wizard will be around to do all your taste testing :).

I like how you put this time as the honeymoon in Wizard’s retirement. I don’t think we’ve had that because hubs is still being called by work. When he’s totally free it may happen.

Our weekend was great. Hubs took me out for a nice dinner and then yesterday we deep fried a turkey making a mini Thanksgiving meal. Yum!

    Have a nice day :)!

Plot Twists are always…interesting. Depending on which way it twists.

I can believe it on the honeymoon faze of retirement. Esp when you haven’t been used to being around each other ALL THE TIME. I used to work with my Hubster before I became ill. So I actually miss being around him all the time.

So cool you have an assistant to help with promo. I bet that takes a load off! I don’t even know where to start on mine when the cover and edits are done for FUEL.

Glad you have a great sibling to hang with. And cake never hurts!

    Have a great day!

No cover reveal until the holidays? How can she be so cruel? No cupcakes for Carla. (Even though, yes, I agree with her that the marketing punch will be more effective once it’s closer to publication.)

Happy Birthday to Biker Chick! She gets cupcakes.

Oh man, I hope everything goes well with your plot twist on ETH.

I’m sure you and the Wizard will find your way through and stay in the newlywed stage. I don’t know about you guys, but since we got married late and I already had an ten year old, we didn’t really get to be newlyweds, so this is our late newlywed time. Just like we joked about this year’s trip to FL being our honeymoon.

My weekend was a combination of taking care of Max while he convalesces and Hubs, who wasn’t feeling well either. I did get some work done, but not much else. They both seem to be feeling better today, so here’s hoping for a productive Monday.

I have one more week of Sprout. Looks like there’s an opening and he’ll be moving to day care next Monday. I’m torn. I love the little dickens and will miss him, but at the same time, I have a HUGE publishing schedule ahead of me and really need to focus on work.

I did make his Halloween costume yesterday. Only wanted a Snoopy costume for him, which was the first costume I made for her–her first Halloween.

Happy Birthday to Biker Witch. Cupcakes to her and to Wiz for his retirement. I think you two will adjust just fine. And we’ll have lots more Wiz stories!

Like BE said, NO cupcakes for Carla. Bad Carla making us wait. But yay for time for more WSH writing, though boo on Plot Twist except it’ll make the book better and that’s always good. :D

    Have a great week everyone!

Viki, your weekend does sound nice! I like the mini Thanksgiving.

I feel for your hubs. There’s a story there for Wizard–he brought his laptop home from work and spent two days trying to get into the network–one he’d accessed from him many times. But his old laptop just couldn’t do it. After 2 days of aggravation, trips to IT etc, he let it go. But he’s lucky in that he has great confidence in the man he hired to replace him. That helps.

I printed a couple recipes, not sure what I’ll use. Yesterday I had WAY too much cake. I need to take a break :-)

Hope you have a great day too!

Ashlynn, it’s nice having Wizard around, but it makes me lazy too :-)

On promo, just pick out some things you enjoy, but spend more time focusing on writing the next book. Building a backlist seems to really help sales as readers get more and more familiar with you. I think an important tool is it start building a newsletter too.

Hope you’re feeling better this week.

B.E., you really had your hands full this weekend with a sick hubby and kitty. Hope they are both getting better.

I was twenty when we married, so we’ve been together forever and ever and ever… But Wizard keeps himself busy and man his stress level has dropped, which also lowers mine, and that’s a bonus.

Keep us updated on your submissions!

Silver, I bet you’re conflicted in Sprout going to daycare. You’ll miss him terribly! But you have to grab the brass ring now, and when you do get time with Sprout, you’ll be able to give him your undivided attention.

    Bet his costume is adorable!

This isn’t a plot twist I wanted (it’s not about the book itself, actually) but that doesn’t mean it wont end up being a good thing. Time will tell.
