I’m Back and Wednesday Worthy

Hey! I missed all of you while I was in Florida. It was an amazing conference that had excellent workshops, opportunities to brainstorm, see old friends and make new ones.  It was interesting how many of us are juggling to manage our careers, yet thrilled to be doing it.  I haven’t transcribed my notes yet, but I’m hoping to do that this week and get an outline of key things I learned. But I won’t bore you guys with a bunch of recaps.

I got crazy lucky with an amazing room and a slider overlooking the ocean. It was stunning.

Last view from room before leaving

It was so gorgeous. See those blue chairs? Those are collapsed cabanas, two of my friends and I took an afternoon off and hung out there in those for a couple hours. Total relaxation! The water was really warm, and we saw some dolphins playing out there. Seriously, I lucked out with the view from my room–usually when I travel I have a view of the dumpsters or parking lot :-). I turned on the TV only ONCE just to make sure it worked, the rest of the time I listened to the waves while I worked on some notes, email with my Brazilian editor, caught up on social media or one morning when I had time, I even did a tiny amount of writing. I’d love to have stayed there another week to write non-stop but real life demanded my presence. Plus I missed Wizard.

In other news, Wizard figured out how to make coffee all by himself! He did great on his own. He’s having no problem filling his time so far since he retired. He even tried to vacuum for me, but he only managed to do the upstairs because the power went out.

At least that’s his story, LOL! He swears the power really went out.

Okay enough of all that.  I have a Wednesday Worthy Candidate for you:

Fine art sepia toned portrait of a beautiful muscular shirtless

What do you think, is he worthy? And now it’s YOUR turn, how have you all been while I was away? I really want to know!

I am so glad you had such a good time and got to have a little R&R too. The view from your room was beautiful. It was strange to see you up so early but you got to enjoy the waves and all so I guess you didn’t mind the lost sleep too much ;). Can’t wait to hear more.

Wizard did well :). Making coffee is an accomplishment.

Poor Pee Wee was so excited when his mom and dad finally picked him up after being out of town for the Walker Stalker Con in Atlanta that he was jumping on the couch and fell. He landed badly and broke his little leg in three spots. He’s in a cast for 6 wks. He’s still in pain and not eating because of the pain pills. It’s so sad to look at him. He went to the vet yesterday afternoon but Cassie hasn’t given me the report yet. Poor baby.

I say this guy is worthy. He kind of reminds me of that guy who play the lead in JAG.

    Have a great day:)!

We missed you, too. But it’s so awesome that you had a good time and such a lovely view. Yay for Wizard! I knew he could do it. =o)

Not much going on here. I decided to shift my NaNo from a totally new book to finishing a book I left off of in the middle. I’m reading through what I already wrote right now and I can’t believe I never finished this. (Okay, I never finished it because I lost faith in my ability to write suspense, but I’m better now.) Other than that, the leaves are changing and it’s quite lovely in the Ozarks. I’m just waiting for the eagles to come back. (They winter here.)

That looks amazing! So glad you had a great time! The one conference I went to pumped me up so much and I learned so much! Maybe one of these days I can attend another one.

Weekend was bleh, but yesterday and last night? Holy cheese on a cracker…I ran across some images from a model that were perfect for #2 book, so I messaged him thinking I wouldn’t hear a thing. HA! Those babies are mine, as we speak! Go me!! :D So I’m on a cloud because…well I talked to a hot model?! Oh and got some great pics.

mmm I like the guys smirk. But other than that not doing it for me.

Viki, poor little Pee Wee! He was excited and happy and then to have a freak accident hurt him had to be so upsetting. I feel awful for him. I hope his pain abates and he starts eating more. I’m sure you had hurt from seeing him in pain. I’m sending good wishes that he heals quickly with no long term complications.

Florida is three hours ahead of So Cal so I’m sure it was a shock to see me surface online so early :-) I’m naturally an early riser and usually adjust to whatever time zone Im in. Plus I didn’t have the normal household stuff to do so I was online more in the early hours. I didn’t sleep much but I’m used to that.

Wizard didn’t miss me enough :-( But that’s okay he’s really happy and relaxed these days, and finding ways to keep himself entertained. That makes me very happy.

I hope you hear a good report on Pee Wee today!

Welcome to the Fun House is the family theme for October. It has been a roller coaster of happenings and I am so ready to leave this theme park. Do I get points for the visual of that statement. My one day at a time has become one moment at a time and wait for the next big wave to hit. I am currently channeling Dory from finding Nemo—— I just keep swimming swimming just keep swimming….

With both my sense of humor and hope in tack I will be fine probably around March of 2015.

B.E., so glad you said you recovered your belief in your ability to write suspense before I yelled at you :-) Seriously I wouldn’t yell, I just feel for you. I have lost faith in myself enough to know that hopeless defeated sense that overtakes us. I’m glad you kicked that to the curb and are determined to finish the book for NANO.

It sounds like a beautiful fall in your area. Hopefully FB will put any pics you take in my feed — I enjoy seeing them.

Wizard is proud that he made coffee while I was gone :-) He also cooked, which he has always been able to do so that’s not a surprise. Oh and he did his own laundry, he’s bragged about that a few time, LOL!

Ashlynn, Yay you! So cool that you messaged the model and got a response. That’s what happens when we put ourselves out there and try :-) I’m proud of you for doing that!

    You’re a very visual writer, aren’t you?

What I loved about this conference is it was very business-focused. The days of treating authors as the talent who are incapable of controlling their own careers are long gone. But also, the beach is my love so this was an unexpected bonus :-)

Kat, it sounds like you’re living in the eye of a hurricane. I’m sorry! I hope things calm down so you can regain your sense of control. But you’re absolutely right, a sense of humor and hope are vital to getting through it.

As always, I’m running late. I swear I’m going to join NINC this year and go to the conference next year! I keep hearing amazing things about it.

Oh yeah, this guy does it for me. I have a color photo of him stripping out of his dress shirt and tie. Mmmmmmm….

Yeah, I’m a VERY visual writer. Something I realized a long time ago.

I find pics for just about EVERY SINGLE character I write. It’s one of those processes that doesn’t work for everyone, but its essential for me. I’ve had some people say its a time suck…because well, it could take me days to find the right pic. But that’s just my process. :)

    I like to think…no RULES.
