Weekend Roundup

First, we didn’t have Bailey which is a bummer, but we’ll go visit him soon :-)

Okay so this weekend got kind of crazy.

1) I had to have my lawyer review a contract, that turned out to be very simple. I wish it was always this easy! I’ll tell you more on that later, but it’s NOT a new book. More of a part two of a previous contract. (Yeah, I know that sounds confusing).

2) I’m making progress on Linc and Risa’s book CAGED MAGIC. It’s hard work but I’m loving the challenge. I’m “all in” which means the book is taking up of my brain power and I’m fighting for the best way to tell this story, as well as the Ram and Ginny, and Eli’s story lines that are weaving through there.

3) Then I got an email from my editor on EXPOSING THE HEIRESS (book 3 in Once A Marine). They’ve decided to move the series to the Ignite line with has more suspense and more sex. Okay, so I’ve already ramped up the sex, but now a different editor would like to see even more suspense.  Which isn’t a surprise to me, I more or less saw this coming and yet I’m still panicking and hyperventilating.  I’ve committed to getting CAGED MAGIC to my freelance editor Feb 1st and I need to get this book revised while doing that, plus the holidays.

4) Wizard sees this panic and last night, he piled me into the car and we went to…The Kitchen Store. Nothing like buying a new sifter, two different sizes of muffin pans and cookie/muffin scoops to take my mind off work stress :-)

baking addiction

Wizard knows I stress-bake and he benefits from this addiction. (I try to stress exercise too, but that’s happening less these days) Anyway,  I had mentioned to him that I wanted to try pumpkin cheesecake muffins so he decided to “help” by making sure I had the tools. LOLOL!! But it really did help to get out and have a little fun.

5) Thanksgiving. As much as I enjoy doing the Thanksgiving holiday, this year I’m grateful it’s not at my house. We’re going to my sister in law’s and all I have to bring is deviled eggs. So easy! It’ll be fun.

How was your weekend? And what are you doing for Thanksgiving?

Wow are you going to be busy. Good thing Wizard too you shopping at the kitchen store. The man really knows how to help you through the stress. It’s so cute that he gets to reap the benefits of your stress relief mechanism :).

Sounds so good to me that EXPOSING THE HEIRESS is going to have lots of suspense. I love when you authors keep me on my toes ;).

You only have to bring Deviled Eggs on Thursday – man that’s great. I’m doing the turkey dinner on Thursday for the 4 of us (2 of the boys) and Friday a standing rib roast for the 6 of us (3 boys and a wife :). PeeWee won’t be coming :( as his mom doesn’t want him climbing around our couch with his cast. He’s getting along pretty good but he likes to walk along the back of couch and could easily fall.

Have a really wonderful day and let us know how those pumpkin cheesecake muffins turn out :)!

:hugs: You’ll work it all out. Bake your brains out and put all the stress into the food. Bummer about Bailey. You need him for stress relief, too. Bailey the writer therapy dog. Yay for Wizard recognizing that sometimes all a writer needs is new kitchen implements. Here’s to a stress-free TGD!

I didn’t do the big writing weekend, but I’m holding steady with my goal of 2K a day (mainly because I was way ahead). I will ‘win’ NaNo either today or tomorrow – now the question is whether I’ll hit my own goal of 60K by 12/1 and finished by 12/15. Meanwhile, I should be hearing from my editor soon and I’m trying not to freak out ahead of time.

TGD will be just Hubs and I. He’ll cook, we’ll eat, and then we’ll lay around like dogs. =o)

Man I got tired reading about all the things everyone else is doing.

I did some pre shopping for Christmas. Which means I went and looked around before having the shopping money in hand. It helps to keep me in a budget and to not get to distracted by all the sparkly things when I am able to do the real shopping.

Our family went out on Friday night to a locally owned Mexican Restaurant. Things have been tight so we haven’t been out in a long time. It was good to be out together and even see the teenage son smile while he ate is fried cheese cake.

Sunday I took my daughter and a friend of hers bowling and for ice cream. Tween girls can really giggle and eat a whole lot of ice cream.

I am looking forward to a couple of days off at the end of the week from work. Sleeping in sounds so good right now.

I hope everyone has a relaxing, blessed Thanks Giving.

You’re always super busy, Jen. I dunno how you do it. Of course I’m like, put off the big pub house and finish Linc’s story! (I’m selfish like that :P ) Even though I love your Once A Marine series, WS have my heart. Can’t help it.

And Wiz…what a guy! If I ever meet him I might just kiss him on his cheek for being so super-sweet to you. And you always panic and you always nail it. You sooo got this!

Me? *grins* I have a cover reveal today. Yay! And edits on FUEL. I’m behind on that and I’m the one panicking and running around like chicken with my head cut off. Not knowing what to do first! *EEKS*

It’s Monday. There was a weekend. Only is hosting Thanksgiving at her house, though I’m doing most of the cooking and taking it there. We were up there yesterday so Lawyer Guy could work on her kitchen sink and I’m looking at the house wondering where people will sit–couch is full of stuff. Kitchen table is full of stuff. Kitchen counters are full of stuff. I asked if she wasn’t sure they wanted to come to our house and she got huffy. “I’ll get it cleaned up, Mom!” Yeah…Thursday will be interesting.

Yay on moving to the new line. I think you’ll be happier even though it means more work. You’re in your element, darlin’! And Linc! Woot!!!! I have cookies for him. Ram too. ;) You’ll get it done because Wiz has your back and knows what buttons to push. :D

I’m about to wrap up MOON SHOT. Ahead of schedule. I need more coffee….

Viki, Wizard just wants muffins :-)

Thanks on the book. I just want to get this right and have some concerns. But I’ll do my best.

I hope your family is helping you with all that cooking! You’re doing two major dinners back to back. But it all sounds yummy!

Bummer on PeeWee although I understand his mom’s reasoning. But I know you want to see him!

B.E, I’m so impressed that yo’re going to “win” your NANO commitment! It’s harder that is sounds to achieve that word count in a meaningful way.

    Quiet Thanksgivings are nice!

And you know, writing will always have challenges, so I’m trying to just stay focused. And bake :-) Although I don’t know that I’ll really have time, but point is, I can if I want to.

Oh and I’m betting your editor will love your book, but have some suggestions for making it stronger! You can do this! (But I know how it feels when that editorial letter hits our inboxes! Anxiety, excitement, dread, worry, hope…yep, it’s a jamb packed moment!)

Kat, you did have a good weekend! It’s so nice to be able to so something special together as a family.

And you know, you seem to enjoy your teenagers, which is awesome. It’s all too easy to get lost in the worries when teenagers are amazing creatures :-) I loved hearing their developing opinions and emerging passions. Plus they are funny and sometimes sweet when they aren’t aggravating.

Good plan on Christians shopping. Wizard does “pre-shopping” too.

FYI, I had to look up fried cheesecake, man that looks good!

Ashlynn, you and me both, but I have contract obligations :-) It’s not that I don’t love the Once A Marines books, its that I’ve had to fight so hard for this chance to write Linc’s story.

Congrats on your cover reveal for FUEL!!! Love it!

Yeah, Wizard’s good to me, but he’d definitely angling to get me to bake him muffins :-)

Silver, LOLOL!! Love that story of Only’s house and your comments… it’s a mom/daughter thing! And I bet T-Day turns out awesome at her place, especially since yo’re doing most of the cooking. You’re a great mom.

This new line…well this is publishing :-)

MOON SHOT? You have another shifter book coming out? I bought the previous one but haven’t read it yet. I saved it for traveling but ended up talking more than reading on the plane. I gotta get caught up!
