Weekend Roundup

Hey guys! I’ve missed you all! Our holidays were great but nonstop and man, I’m ready to go back to writing today! So a quick recap: Christmas Eve we had Biker Witch (my sister) and her Biker Hubby out for dinner. That was totally kick back and fun. Then Christmas day we had two sons plus their girls out and Special K (my daughter-in-law) cooked dinner. And let me tell you, THIS is what I missed out on in having all sons! Special K made a delicious dinner of Chicken Pasta Marinara. I didn’t have to do anything :-)

And okay I know boys are capable of making dinner too :-) But it’s amazing for us to have these special girls that our three sons have brought to our lives! Better than any material gift that’s for sure.

Then Sunday we got to see Middle Son and his girlfriend, and she made carne asada fajitas. Awesome! We had a great time with them too.

Another awesome thing, we had Bailey for almost a week. He was good as gold, and we loved having him. The first three days we went for walks and he chased lizards and played, but then, his hips started bothering him. Bailey is getting older, and his hips can really hurt. Holy Heartstrings, that is hard to see–he looks at us with big sad eyes that beg us to make it stop. Middle Son told me what to do, so I got the meds for him and it helped. Also I went out and bought him a new bed (for our house, he has a kennel he loves at his house) so he could get more comfortable:

Bailey's new bed 2

Bailey's new bed 1

When Bailey wasn’t with us, he slept in the bed until the meds kicked in and he felt better. Let me tell you, both Wizard and I were STRESSED over this, so worried about the dog who has given all of us so much love. Middle Son had told me this happened, and I could hear the worry in his voice when he talked about it, but seeing it firsthand is wrenching.  Bailey’s feeling better now, and he’ll be okay.

And when we took him home, Middle Son and his girlfriend were so calm and confident, helping Bailey while going out of their way not to make us feel bad. Middle son thinks the stairs in our house are aggravating Bailey’s hips and said, “I’ll order baby gates and have them sent to your house.” And I thought, this man cares so much for his dog AND his parents. He doesn’t want to deprive Bailey or us, we’ll just work together to solve issues as Bailey ages and has more challenges.

Seriously, I hugged both Middle Son and his girlfriend. We all love Bailey and want what’s best for him.

So over all our Christmas was good even though Bailey had a couple difficult days. He has a lot of people who love him and will work together to take care of him.

How was your holiday and weekend?

I wrote a huge reply that didn’t go through :(. So this will be short.

I’m glad Bailey has you guys. His bed is soft so it should have helped with the pain.

You are lucky to have those wonderful young ladies in your life. The boys did well.

Glad you had a great Christmas. Sound busy and fun.

    Have a fantastic day!

Aww, poor little guy. The dog we had growing up had hip dysplasia and as he got older, he would be so stiff. We gave him aspirins to help. I wonder if low-dose baby aspirins would help Bailey. (You know, those 80mg Bayer ones.) :hugs: for you guys and Bailey-dog.

Yay for the rest of your holiday being awesome, though. Even though you were busy, it sounds like you got a much needed writing break.

My holiday was good. Quiet, so not much to talk about there. Max is on the mend, but he’s still not eating right – as in he’s super picky and I get to spend untold time coaxing him with a variety of stuff until he relents and actually eats. Another writer I follow had to have her cat’s teeth pulled and it took 3 months before it started eating right. I don’t know how harried I’ll be if this takes 3 mos. And now the other cat, Kira, has something up with her mouth and she won’t eat either. Back to the vet’s office. Good thing I plied them with cookies because Kira isn’t as laid back as Max when it comes to other people touching her.

Poor Bailey! It’s amazing how attached we get those fur babies. I stress big time when any of my pups are sick. Makes my heart hurt.

You have a great family, Jen. Your boys picked good girls if they are willing to pitch in like that and cook and such. Awesome.

Christmas was chaos like always at our place. Too much for me in one day. Next year, we are talking about splitting it up a lil more. Everything in one day is overkill. I still enjoyed seeing our family though. They are a riot!

Christmas for once was relaxed. My daughter squealed over all her gifts- (she was the easy one to by for). My teen age son was very stoic. The only thing he gets excited about is cash and then he only nods his head to show his approval. The day was over too soon and I had to be at work on Friday. I was hoping to have this Friday off, but that didn’t work out. :( Maybe I can get some snow days in and make up for not being able to take the day after a holiday off. I will start my snow dancing soon. There will not be any utube videos of this. I have to much other blackmail photos of my kids that they know about so they would not risk filming me.

Kat, you suck for not posting YouTube videos of the magic dancing. I need to learn it so we can have some this year! ;) We did wake up to snow on Saturday, a surprise even to the weathermen.

I was sick over Christmas but managed to handle duties and appearances before I collapsed Christmas evening and stayed in bed until yesterday. I’m soooo far behind! *flail*

Poor Bailey Dog. Hip displasia usually affects big dogs but it’s miserable for the little ones because they’re more active as a rule. :( I’m sure they have a good vet and meds but I’ll add that we had decent luck giving ours glucosimine for doggies. He’s such a sweet pup and so lucky to have a wonderful human family who loves him.

And speaking of lucky… Jen, I think you and Wiz did a marvelous job raising your sons and gave them such a shining example of what a relationship is that they couldn’t help but find wonderful women to love and bring into the family. :D

    Have a great week, everyone!

Viki, I hate when blogger acts up like that! So sorry you had trouble posting.

And from your previous comments, are you going to get a new computer since your other one can’t be fixed? Man I think you are ready for a better year in 2015!

Christmas is just overwhelming, but we love it. Hope it was great for you and your family too!

And thanks on Bailey :-) I was thinking about how hard it had to be for you guys to watch Pee Wee suffer when he hurt his left.

B.E, I got low dose baby aspirin for Christmas day, but once Petsmart opened I went and got 120 mg dog aspirin. It works well for him, plus a little heat and rest.

The writing break is good as I want very much to get back to my story! I have a few things to do this morning then I’m back to the book and can’t wait.

Poor Max! i wasn’t online a lot but caught one or two FB posts from you. That’s one tough kitty and I feel so bad for him and you. I hope he starts eating soon. And now your other cat is having problems? Why does it always come one thing after another? But it sounds like you have a great vet, so that’s good.

Ashlynn, it’s so true about our animals. I’ve always said the sign of a good man is the way he treats animals :-)

This is our first holiday where we broke up Christmas with the kids and it worked out fine. We also split up extended family time to keep it somewhat manageable. I think it’s all in our cooperative attitude, and your family sounds like they are great that way.

Kat, your son made me laugh. Boys, right? LOL! Mine sometimes tried to be stoic but often lost the battle to stay cool :-) Now girls rock because we aren’t afraid of our emotions.

I hope you can get your snow day, but I agree with Silver, you totally need to post your snow dance to Youtube!

Hope you have a great week!

Silver, I was afraid you’d get sick since the little one was sick. Kids love to share their viruses as much as they share hugs and kisses. I hope you’re feeling better and LG isn’t sick. How’s Magic Bean, is he all better?

Middle Son tries various things for Bailey including special food. He also keeps him in good shape, which helps. Part of the problem this time was I was under medicating him out of caution. Now that I know exactly how to do it when he has a flare up I’ll handle it better. The really good thing about Bailey is he comes to us when he’s sick or hurt, he doesn’t hide it like some dogs do (either behavior is normal).

    Thanks on the family :-)

Hope you can catch up but please don’t overdo it since you’ve been sick!
