Weekend Roundup

GREAT weekend! My only disappointment was that I didn’t get to go to my local RWA chapter meeting, but that was my decision. Because Friday night Wizard was out until just after midnight helping BLB buy his brand new Jeep Wrangler. This is a huge milestone for BLB (youngest son). Wizard was about to bust a gut with pride. He essentially did nothing but be there for a little support while BLB negotiated a great deal. Saturday Wizard headed back out to hang with Middle Son and I stayed home because I had a feeling BLB would come by Saturday to show me his Jeep.

Sure enough, BLB came over :-)  He took me for a ride including out on the dirt trails. Half way though that ordeal, he turned and looked at me.

“Still scared Mom?”

Ummm…  “Not as much as I was a few minutes ago.” I almost always honest with my kids.

He cracked up. “The Jeep is built for this. You know that right?”

“Yep.  And you’re handling it very well.” See I knew that intellectually. BLB doesn’t scare me when he drives, none of the boys do. Wizard and I spent too much time teaching them and we were relentless (they’d tell you that too. We made them drive everywhere). This reaction was all emotional on my part. I was thinking. OMG he has’t even had it 24 hours, and we’re going to get stuck! After all he’s been through, all he’s overcome, there’s a part of me that wants to put him in a bubble and make life easy. That however, is the WORST thing to do so I usually control that reaction. BLB is a tough young man and has his life handled. My job now is to just get out of his way and be proud.

I have the proud thing down, LOL! I’m like that with all my kids. (I’ve never figured out how to be so sure of my writing–it’d be awesome if I had that same confidence there!)

As for the book, I got some real writing done and I’m really enjoying the process and loving watching Linc realize he has to step up and take an emotional risk. Linc, however, isn’t at all happy, particularity when something bad happens to his soul mirror :-) I’m hoping he’ll forgive me if we can ever get to the end. He just needs to hand on for about 200 more pages :-)

This last thing is that I started Silver’s book COWGIRL’S DON’T CRY.! I read about a third so far, and am hooked. I’d have read more but BLB came over on Sunday too to hang out for several hours. But I’m anxious to get back to the book and see what happens.

So how was your weekend?

You had a busy fun weekend didn’t you ;)? It’s easy to picture you in the jeep hanging on tight. Isn’t it funny how boys just have to play with their toys as soon as they come out of the box? Glad you had fun.

You did a wonderful job as mom and being proud is the payment for all the work. Every mom gets her due.

You handle the writing just fine. I think your think you’re worse than you really are. Linc will get alone just fine once he figures out that you have his best interest in mind.

Did you go out with Biker Witch? I Hope you did and had a good time.

Middle son is home and kitty let him know that he was not pleased with him being gone a week. It was funny to watch a cat give the cold shoulder.

It’s been very cold here. Noe it warms up and we get an ice and snow mess. Oh well, it’s winter.

    Have a great day!

I’m so happy for BLB. I’m kinda attached to that kid of yours, and I want to see all the good things happen for him. Sorry you missed the talk you were looking forward to, but the time was well spent. =o) You have every reason to be proud. Those boys of yours sound like good men. Way to go!

Yay for getting some good writing done. I know you can do this, and Linc will forgive you eventually. I still need to pick up Silver’s book. I just haven’t been out and I want it in hardcopy. If I can’t find it locally this week, I’ll order it online.

The weekend here was proofing off my editor’s suggestions. Lots of deleting unnecessary commas and getting the grammar mistakes fixed. Dry as week-old toast, but necessary. And we watched football and movies. And I read a little. Good stuff.

You should be proud of your boys. You did a great job. :) And boys and their toys. Hubs got a brand new Harley, and has already started taking it all apart to customize it. It’s looking awesome.

Can’t wait to read new WS. So glad you decided to work on it again. And your new series sounds super cool too.

Yay for BLB! And he should take you off-roading more often. It’s fun! No, really. But I admit, I’m more comfortable driving than I am riding.

I have cookies for Linc until it gets better. But he needs to be tortured about his soul mirror considering how much he’s tortured you over the years! Turn about is fair play, right? ;)

And blushing like crazy here. There’s been a very positive response to COWGIRLS, including from readers who have never picked up any of my books before.

I pretty much lazed away the weekend and now I’m behind for the week. Typical. Have a great week, witches!

Viki, I hope the kitty forgives Middle Son soon! Although it is kind of funny :-)

So sorry about the weather misery. We had light rain all weekend, but we need it.

I did see Biker Witch, and we had fun. I’d have chosen her over my meeting anyway.

I hope I can handle this writing, LOL. I have the usual worries but I’m not going to whine…hopefully!

And thank you on BLB. But all this is his doing, he stuck it out when many would have quit.

B.e., aw thanks. I know you understand his challenges.

Silver’s book is fun to read! I want to get back to it tonight if I can.

Editing is part of the grunt work but your readers are going to appreciate the work to make their reading more enjoyable.

Hope you enjoyed the football, Wizard was pissed as both his teams lost :-)

Ashlynn, LOL on your hubby! I bet it’ll be amazing when he’s done!

I love the faith all of you have in me, while I’m waking up at four am thinking I should apply at McDonalds or Wal Mart 8-O

Silver, I’ve gone off roading when I was a kid, but it’s been years. I thought it was funny how well BLB can read me when I was trying to hide it.

Linc’s still mad, but now he’s too busy trying to save Risa to yell at me. Although he doesn’t know what happens at the end, which is the only reason I’m still breathing :-)

Chance is amusing me in COWGIRLS! Poor guy doesn’t know if he’s comin’ or goin’ (in love or in lust) and I can’t wait to see how it plays out.
