Weekend Roundup

Wow another run around weekend! Bailey has been here and we had fun, but I think we’re having a little too much fun and then he gets sore. Getting older isn’t for sissies :-)

Oh and here’s the cake for Wizard’s birthday.

Wizard's birthday cake

It’s plain chocolate layer cake with just a sprinkling of chocolate chips on the top. That’s what Wizard likes.

So Easter Sunday,  BLB (youngest son) came over with his girlfriend and they wanted cake. BLB stares at his piece. “There’s not enough chocolate chips.”

“Oh,” I said, “I can fix that.” I went to the cupboard, got out the remainder of the chips and upended the bag over his piece, then handed it back to him.

His girlfriend cracked up. And for once, BLB was so surprised, he had nothing else to say, LOL!  And, he ate it all :-)

Now it’s back to work for me. I have a really solid fix in place for CAGED MAGIC and need to keep going to getting it done and back to the editor.

How was your weekend and Easter?

It was good. Saturday I worked and that night Outlander was back! OOO If you haven’t read the book you should at least watch the show. I’ve been a fan for over 20 years. :)

Easter was good if rainy and chilly. Spent some time with family and watched the lil kids hunt easter eggs.

Oh and got to meet DD new BF.

Funny story about BLB. Haha! That’ll teach em!

Aww, poor Bailey. Getting older sucks. Awesome cake and lol about BLB. Yay for having a solid fix on Caged Magic. You go, girl!

The weekend was nice. We didn’t do much. I planted the marigolds I picked up at Walmart, then I went to the nursery and got a columbine to plant. Yesterday the weather was gross, though, so it’s still sitting on the porch. I made a ham for Easter that turned out pretty good, and then I worked. This book is starting to shape up and I got over the ‘I hate this and it totally sucks’ hump.

Oh poor Bailey. I think we can all relate to his aches. I feel so bad for the fur babies because they want to play and have fun but afterwards they hurt and there isn’t much we can do for them. Plus they can’t tell us how they feel :(.

Your cake looks yummy. Had to laugh about BLB :). Having heard of his sweet tooth it’s easy to picture him eating his slice with a big smile on his face.

Glad Wizard had a nice birthday.

Oh excited that you have Caged Magic going well. Can’t wait for.

Easter was nice but busy. I went out with my girlfriend for a few hours on Sat. and lost my pre-time for Sunday. Needless to say I never left the kitchen :). It was okay since the food was good and all were happy :).

    Have a great day!

 on BLB. You’re such a great mom. ;) And I bet Wiz had a great birthday with Bailey there. I feel for the pup. Our weather has been wildly swinging between wet and cold and hot. My knees are not happy! The library book signing was fun. Met some nice people and was thrilled when the library noted they’d have to replace some of my books soon because the covers were getting ratty. Means they get checked out. A lot! I <3 libraries.

BB's birthday/Easter dinner was at one of the family's favorite restaurants. I offered to cook but he wanted Nomad's for dinner. So…YAY! Especially since we indulged in a little FTA (fun, travel, & adventure) on the way home and it took awhile.

Sunday was a bust for me. Lazy bum day. I read, watched baseball, and plotted. My Nightriders are in for it now! Then insomnia hit and it was 5:30 a.m. before I finally crashed. Needless to say, I'm behind today but that's okay. It's Monday. Monday's are supposed to suck.

    Have a great week, witches!

Ashlynn, I read Outlander WAY bck when and loved it. We also had Diana G speak at our local RWA Chapter. I remember her being brilliant and interesting. I don’t get HBO so I’ll catch the shows later when they hit Netflix or something.

Kids and Easter Egg hunts are the best :-) Sounds like you had a good day!

BLB will get even eventually, LOL. In all seriousness, he’s working so hard, I was happy to give him extra chocolate chips :-)

B.E., at least you got the marigolds planted! And I actually know what those are :-)

Congrats on getting past the “I hate this book” stage!

How do you cook your ham? I’ve made a few hams and they are okay, but nothing spectacular.

Bailey’s mind is still young, but his body is not playing nice. Poor guy.

Viki, thanks on Bailey. He’s sitting by my desk right now squeaking his toy.

BLB does have a sweet tooth but he also likes to see just how far he can push his mom :-)

Wow do I ever know that feeling of having to pay for taking a couple hours off to have fun on a holiday that way. Sounds like you pulled it off, but now deserve a vacation!

Silver, ugh on your knees! It’s not fun to live with. My knees bug me in the changing weather (an old injury in one of them causes it) but yours are much worse.

Yay on going out to dinner! I like to cook but going out is a good break and YOU get to enjoy the celebration more. Glad BB had a good birthday. Wizard was happy, he got to race with his friends all day and come home to ribs and cake. He’s not hard to please.

You need a lazy day, so Sunday was a good day for you! I’ve taken more time off just to hang with Bailey too. Now we both have to work!

I don’t know if my ham is spectacular, but I always do a bone-in, bake it at 325F for 20 minutes per pound – flat side down. To prep it, I score it, put pineapple slices all over it, and then use a brown sugar and pineapple juice mixture to glaze it every hour or so. This time I actually rubbed the ham down with dry brown sugar before I put on the pineapple. Yum. I uncover it for the last half hour to let it darken and get those pineapples all glazey. Sometimes the trick depends on the ham you buy. I found Frick’s ham a couple years ago, and it’s tasty without being too salty. Later this week, I’ll use the bone to make ham & bean soup.
