Weekend Roundup

It’s been pretty quiet here. I’m finally back to working and trying to get the revision done on CAGED MAGIC.  It’s going okay, just been slow with Wizard’s surgery (he’s fine now) and mine (I’m healing great) and various things. I should have this done and back to the editor next week.

By the way, in the few days I was recovering, I read three books! So cool to get a chance to read like that! And in between all that reading, I started thinking about doughnuts. I’m pretty sure it’s because I was so freaking limited on what I could eat, LOL! But I remembered I have this doughnut pan:

And haven’t used it yet! So now I’m looking for baked doughnut recipes and trying to decide what I want to make. Wizard is beside himself with happiness at the very idea of doughnuts .  A really evil wife might just be teasing him about making doughnuts after he sat there in front of me and ate jelly beans right after my oral surgery and every single day since then.

But would I be that evil??? Oh I totally would, but now I actually want to make donuts so we’ll see which side of me wins: The evil side or the fat side :-)

So how was your weekend?

Oh, girlfriend, you so totally don’t have a fat side. As for an evil side – who doesn’t have one of those? ;o)

Glad you’re both doing well after your surgeries. And yay for having time to read.

I didn’t do much this weekend – at least not writing-wise. I spent some time yesterday raking the dirt patch in the front yard and then feeding and seeding it with grass. We think the previous owners used to keep a car there – because it’s about car-sized. I don’t actually care of grass grows there, as long as something grows. I’m tired of looking at dirt. I also spent some time reading a book I’ve wanted to read for a while now – Wakeworld by Kerry Schafer (Book 2 in The Between series). It’s pretty much as awesome as I thought it would be.

I found a snickerdoodle pie recipe that I’m so gonna try. No baked donuts, though. Sorry. :(

Plus, evil is as evil does. Wiz deserves every tease. Leave the pan out. Then put flour next to it later. Switch the flour with sugar. Add a bowl. Then put everything away.

I spit out over 10K words this weekend, even after scraping a story thread and going a different direction which worked hella better. I’m floundering with the ending now. That’s my task today, after a trip to the post office and serious debate over whether to bake because we got 2 inches of rain, it’s cloudy, cool, and SNICKERDOODLE PIE!

    Happy Monday, witches! :D

You are so funny. What brought doughnuts to mind while you were recovering? Were they in one of the books you read? I love that pan. Have you found a recipe yet?

I think Wizard should have to stare at the pan for a few days (the same number of days he ate jellybeans in front of you) before you make the doughnuts ;).

Is Linc behaving knowing that you and Wizard have had a couple difficult weeks? I hope he is and that the edits wrap up quickly.

I hope you have a great day!

B.e., aw thank you but I’m definitely softening up in all the wrong places these days.

I don’t blame you on the dirt patch. Seeded grass should grow — as long as you don’t live here where we’re in a legendary drought.

So glad you got to read a book you’ve been anticipating!

Silver, I love that idea to toy with Wizard! This week is kind of a bust with deadlines and dr appts though.

Wow you got a LOT of words done this weekend! You must have been on a roll once you changed directions.

I think you absolutely should make the snickerdoodle pie then report back to us on it :-)

Viki, I have no idea why I thought about donuts specifically while as I haven’t had one in years. Although I’ve had the pan since Christmas and haven’t used it. Maybe it’s because I had time to think about something besides working.

Edits are going okay so far. I did a full pass on the last 350 pages of the book first, then came back to the more challenging 150 pages. It’s slow but I’m feeling better about it. Linc is being surprisingly cooperative, probably because he knows how it all ends now :-)

Hope you had a good weekend and a great week ahead.
