Weekend Roundup

So how was everyone’s Mother’s Day? We had a blast here. Kids + Dogs + Margaritas + Hot Tub = FUN!

Cookie and Corky were tired! (Corky is on the left, Cookie on the right)

We missed Bailey! He had to stay home since he doesn’t always play well with other dogs. But Bailey is coming to stay with us for a week in June, so that’ll be fun.

The weekend had a mild hiccup. On Friday, just a couple hours after I sent the manuscript of CAGED MAGIC to the editor, my other editor sent copy edits for EXPOSING THE HEIRESS and needed them done by Monday.  That’s what I get for planning a weekend off :-) But the good news is, Wizard and the kids all pitched in and everything worked out fine. I got the copy edits done and had fun too.

So how was your weekend?

Sounds like a blast. You need to get the Dog Whisperer to train Bailey so he plays nice with his cousins. How cute would that pic be? Aww. Sorry the copyedits fell on your weekend off, but yay for the Wizard and the kids for helping so you could meet your deadline.

I spent a large part of the weekend formatting Accidental Death for print and for Kindle (still need to finish Kindle) and another large part watching golf. Oh, and I made a hot milk sponge cake yesterday, and it worked! I haven’t successfully completed a hot milk sponge cake since I left Michigan in 2001. (Altitude problems.) I also stopped by the local indie store and chatted with the owner about my new book, then a customer came in and we chatted some more. =o)

PUPPIES!!!! So cute, and yes, Bailey needs to learn to play nice.

Ugh on quick turn around on the edits, but guessing there weren’t that many since she wanted them in 48 hours? Yay for HEIRESS getting closer. Yay for CAGED MAGIC getting closer.

Yay for hot tubs, kids, margaritas and puppies. I had a book signing at a tiny library in a tiny town in SW Oklahoma and it was a blast. The town really turned out in support despite the weather. Only and Stormageddon tagged along with LG and me. After the signing we went for burgers at a historic store/restaurant in a nearby town and then meandered around the Wichita Wildlife Refuge while Only took pictures. BB had to work. :( Yesterday, the whole family gathered for BBQ for dinner. It was a good weekend and we have two whole days before the next wicked storm system comes it and we batten down the hatches again.

    Have a great week, witches!

B.E., hot milk sponge cake? I haven’t had it, but congrats on conquering in even with the altitude issues :-)

The good news is the copy edits came after I sent in CAGED MAGIC so I was happy about that.

I admire you guys for doing your own formatting! I won’t even go there. Great job!

Silver, sounds like a great weekend! But man you guys (your stated and the surrounding ones) are getting hit by some storms. I’m thinking of you!

Copy edits were pretty easy. It was my need to do a read through to check things that took the real time. But it’s done until the next round. Entangled does a lot of editing, which is a good thing.

Sounds like you all had tons of fun including wiped out Cookie and Corky :). Too bad Bailey couldn’t be there but if he doesn’t play well with others it’s best to see them separately :).

You’re getting Bailey for a full week – WOW. You’re not going to have to worry about lizards for a while ;).

You have one fantastic support system there all lending a hand so you could get everything done. I’m so glad they were there and you got to enjoy yourself.

Our birthday dinner was the best meal any of us have had out. All six of us were in agreement. The view was amazing, the service spot on and the food perfection. Expensive but worth it for the two guys birthdays.

I’ve never heard of a hot milk sponge cake either – must investigate :).

    Have a great afternoon :)!

Viki, sounds like an amazing dining experience! It’s nice when everyone agrees and enjoys it.

Bailey will love doing lizard guard duty :-) I’m just going to have to skip walks with him, his hips can’t take the hills around my house. And because Bailey is a really good dog otherwise, we just work around his dog aggression. Few people even believe us until they see it because he’s so good with people, kids etc.

    Have a great week!

Jenn – My guess is Bailey is just the alpha male and he’s protecting his pack. I’ve known several male, only pet, that are like that with other dogs/cats. It’s how wolves act.

I hope you’re having an awesome day :)!
