Weekend Roundup

Plotting a new book! I love this “research and development” part of the process where anything is possible. I think it could be amazing — IF I CAN GET IT RIGHT. I have characters, a premise and structure of the novel, but there’s one component I’m missing that’s key to making this book work. It’s part of the hook and it has to be exactly right. I’m excited, terrified and hoping I’m up to the challenge. We shall see.

But the truth is, I really won’t know what works until I write it. I have to get the characters on the page to see their chemistry with each other, and really understand their hopes, dreams, fears and vulnerabilities. But this “research and development” process is keeping me happy until I get the revisions back for CAGED MAGIC.

Otherwise, this weekend I did boring stuff, including getting the MRI done for my ankle. And yesterday I ordered a dress online to see if I like it for the RITA awards. It’s sad how few dresses are actually in the stores anymore. But I can return this easily if I need to, so I took a shot.

Today I’m heading back to my final dental visit to get my permanent bridge in, so I won’t be back to answer any comments until afternoon. But all that time in the dental chair will give em more time to think about my book :-)

So how was your weekend?

Yay for a new book! You can do this. I hope the MRI was just routine. If not, :hugs:.

It was my annibirthary weekend here. Plus, book release weekend. Culminating today. Now I’m just tired and I want to go back to bed. But there’s cake to eat and marketing to do. Cheesecake for breakfast… now there’s an idea. After I drink more coffee, of course.

I hope your dentist appointment goes well and you have an awesome day. =o)

Hope the MRI is clear on the ankle! Yay for finally getting that bridge and an end to tooth ugh-ness. But most of all? NEW STORY!!!!!!!!!!!! I love that stage of things–when everything is bright and shiny, a dawn of new possibilities. Enjoy the moment! And then get to work. LOLOL

This weekend, I got to the halfway point (story-wise) and realized the first half is pretty sucky. The good news is, I know how to fix it. I’m shifting my process a little, though. Normally, I write through until the end, then go back and fix. This time, though, the mistakes are glaring enough I HAVE to go fix it now. So…that’s my goal these first few days of the week. I also watched baseball and softball and read. Made for a relaxing weekend…except for those pesky WIP problems. ;)

    Have a great week!

B.E., Happy birthday and anniversary! I’ll check out your book and put it up on FB this week too. (Don’t let me forget!!) Congrats!!

My bridge is done, yay! And my MRI is just for an ongoing ankle issue, nothing terribly serious.

Silver, the stupid tooth consumed too much time in my life, but it’s done now :-)

I’m totally enjoying this moment of the new story. It’s a book I’ve wanted to write for awhile.

Oh yeah, I’ve been where you are BUT knowing how to fix it is key. And if you’re compelled to go back and do it now, I’d follow that drive. Sometimes that change could shift the remainder of the book, so (for me anyway) it’s etter to do it now. Go, go, go!

I hope the MRI went smooth. When will you get the info and do you have any idea what actions you’ll be taking next or hasn’t he Dr. posed them to you yet? I just pray that the outcome is good :).

Well spill on the dress :). You can’t leave it hanging like that with no description whatsoever. At least give us what color.

Good news on the book. I kind of get it how you really don’t know if it works “until it works”. It’s art and art is like that ;).

How’d the dentist go. I hope the bridge fits well and you can eat those jelly beans soon.

My weekend was okay. Nothing really special. This weekend we’re going to head to NY for my step-dad’s 90th secret birthday celebration. I’m looking forward to seeing my family.

    Have a great afternoon :).

Viki, the MRI was easy enough. We’re looking for a probable cyst in the ankle, then will decided. Best case scenario is that it’s in the tendon sleeve and will respond to an injection. Worst case is surgery but I could choose to live with it too. That’s assuming the issue is what we think it is.

I’m going to wait until I see the dress before I spill any details :-) I’m second guessing myself all over the place.

OH!! I forgot about the jelly beans! I could eat them now for sure. The bridge went in fine, no problems and so far, I’m very happy. Now I need to get those jelly beans and eat them in front of Wizard!!!

The weekend coming up should be wonderful for you and the family. I hope you get to see everyone you’ve missed!
