Happy Friday!

I know a lot of you are getting rain, but it’s been HOT here. Over a 100 every freaking day!

In other news, it only took me 3 different trips to a store on 3 separate days to get new towels, a rug and a toilet seat cover for the downstairs powder room. It’s a good thing I didn’t take up a career in Interior Design! Wizard, by the way, thinks this is hilarious. I can raise three boys and deal with a sick mom at the same time — all while writing a book, but I can’t seem to buy simple household items.

I’m also **trying** to rest a bit since I have a cold (mild) and my ankle is acting up. But resting is hard when there’s so much to be done!

Now for the important thing; Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there!

High key portrait in black and white, of a father lovingly embracing his newborn son

I got this photo from Bigstock because it reminds me of Wizard. He was the kind of dad that was always happy to get home from work and hang out with the kids. For a few weeks, our youngest son, BLB had some mild colic. Every night around dinner time, he’d cry. Wizard would come home from work, change and immediately take over. I’d tell him he didn’t have to, but he’d just say, “You need a break too.”  Then he’d hold BLB in his arms, walking around the house and outside, soothing him while playing with our two older boys and listening to their chatter about their days. It was so sweet and sexy and to this day, Wizard is still like that. When the kids need him, he’s there.

I wish all children had a father like that, but most especially boys so they could see what is true strength in a man.

Sunday, Wizard’s brother is visiting from out-of-state, and for sure Middle Son and his girlfriend will come over. I think BLB will be here too. CPA boy and Special K will be on a camping trip. We’ll see them soon. Oh and Bailey Dog is coming too, I think :-)

What are your plans for this weekend/Father’s Day?

That is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing that. There are ao many boys in my practice who don’t have that generous, loving attention from their dads. It’s hard for them to model growing into strong and yet patient, caring men.

With the Kid up in Michigan and both of our fathers gone, we really don’t do much for Father’s Day. (Or Mother’s Day, for that matter.)

Yep, it would be awesome if all kids could have a father like Dan. Hubs is a good Dad, but he only got the chance starting from just before she turned eleven, so all the small years were on me. I was Mom and Dad. Not optimum, but she turned out okay.

So glad you’re getting to see two out of the three this weekend. And Bailey! Yay!

Rain. We got 4 inches out of Tropical Dude Bill. I’d blow it all your way if I could.

Roz, I bet you see some very sad situations. I could really get on my soapbox about kids and parenting, but I’ll refrain.

Hope you have a great weekend!

B.e., I am in awe of single moms. I mean that with every fiber of my being — my mom ended up a single mom with me after my dad died. It’s tough. But you did it and have a lot to be proud of!

And your husband came into your daughter’s life at an important time. That counts for a lot too.

This weather is crazy — you guys are in danger of flooding and we’re in extreme fire conditions.

Enjoy your quiet weekend — at this very second, I’m envious :-)

I sure hope you’re feeling better. Have a hot toddy tonight and try to sleep the cold away. Isn’t just strange as all get out that you get a cold and the temperature there goes through the roof! Unreal. I feel bad for you.

I love that photo. What a great Wizard story too. John’s always been that kind of dad too. When he’d get home from work the first thing he’d do is grab a baby ;). The two of them would then get changed. Seems like our boys got great dads :).

Just last night I was thinking that we haven’t seen Bailey dog in a while and now he may be coming over ;). Have a great time this weekend celebrating and enjoying family :).

    Happy Father’s Day to Wizard!

Viki, my first reply to you didn’t post :-( Now I know how you feel when it kept happening to you!

My cold really is mild, no coughing or anything icky.

You and I are very fortunate to have awesome dads for our boys!

We miss Bailey! But both Middle Son and his G/F (who adores Bailey) would let us watch him if we asked. But he’s older now, and I think happier at home. However they’ll bring him Sunday as long as he’s not sore (getting older really sucks, but we love him more than ever).

Hope you and your family have a great weekend!
