Happy Friday Even If The Book Won…

Yep, my book has won the battle. I made the decision (subject to change at the editing stage as my editor is made of awesome sauce) to give into the book and let it be a three book series. This was so not the plan…

Wizard is LAUGHING HIS ASS OFF.  And when he catches his breath enough to talk, all he can get out is, “I told you so,” before he starts laughing again. You see I came to him  a few days, weeks, months ago and said, “I think this needs to be a three book series. But I want it to be one book, because there will be a whole Savaged Illusions Rock Band series, so it’ll be confusing if one character has three books.”

Wizard asked, “So this story needs to be three books to make it good?”

“Well it’s big but if I write it tightly enough I can get it in one book. Maybe.”

Wizard responded, “Do what’s right for the book.”

“But…” and finally I stopped to talking to him because frankly, his logical ass was getting on my nerves. Just saying…

But I digress. So yesterday, a full day after I made the decision, which is a long time for me because I generally tell Wizard everything, I confessed the book had to be a three book series. Then I had to listen to him laughing and flinging out “I told you so’s.” But then he went to the store and bought me chocolate and jelly beans…so maybe I’ll keep him.

Okay so why am I doing this? Because in the end, no matter that this will triple my production and marketing costs, and push back my release dates, what matters the most to me in the end is that I give readers the best story I can.  The story needs the time and extra pages to develop to its fullest potential. But I will wait until all the books are done then release them close together so readers aren’t left hanging.

And that my friends is how the book won :-)

Work on our floors will start next week, but we won’t know for sure what date until the tile gets here from Texas. If it arrives today or tomorrow, then demo will start Monday. Either way, this weekend, I’ll be writing and packing/moving things out of the way. What are you doing?

Just a quick programming reminder that on Monday New York Times bestseller, M.J. Rose, the founder of  Authorbuzz.com, and co-founder with Liz Berry of 1001 Dark Nights will be sharing sharing 7 Marketing and Publicity Points. Be sure to check it out!

I figured that’s what would end up happening. Books will be what they will be, and we really don’t have a boatload of control – even if we are their creators. I wanted In Deep Wish to be longer, but it was done when it was done and adding more scenes would’ve just made it bloated. I started BloodFlow out thinking it would go one way and mean one thing, and it jumped the track into something totally different. It’s all good, baby. :hugs: You’re an awesome writer, and you know what the real point is – giving readers the best story. Go you.

I am relaxing this weekend. I uploaded the book last night to Amazon and Draft2Digital so it’s available for pre-order (or will be shortly, depending on the outlet.) Now I can read other people’s books for a change. Today, I have to format it for print so I can get my artist a page count so she can do the print cover. I’ll probably also be around doing marketing stuff. But the rest is for relaxing. Honest. ;o)

I’ve learned that the book ALWAYS wins. Darn it. (That’s the writer speaking.) YIPPEE!!! (That’s the reader, )

We’re doing a 14U baseball tournament–going to cheer Baseball Boy’s team. Been years since we did tournaments. Can’t wait until Stormageddon is old enough to play. :D

I’m also forging ahead on all my projects. Making headway on all of them currently open so yay for me.

Really looking forward to MJ’s advice! Have a great weekend.

B.E., you made a fantastic point–bloat is just as bad as a story with not enough development. And that was my concern. But now I can see more clearly why it should work. But for you, very smart to NOT pad out DEEP WISH to make it longer. And books going a different way that you planned…bwhahaha!! Most of my books do that!

    I just pre-ordered DEEP WISH!

Hope you get everything done and have some time off!

Silver, LOL on the book winning. It’s the truth.

Hope BB’s team wins! And Stormagedden has fun watching :-)

Yay on making progress! Have a great weekend!

I too thought you would end up breaking it down into 3 books. I wouldn’t worry about these two having 3 books to themselves and an additional couple books in the series for other characters. Cynthia Eden has done it and all worked out well. As long as the stories are good ( and we know they will be) there is no problem. The reader will be happy.
It’s easy to see Wizard enjoying his moment :).

I hope the tiles arrive on time. You’ll love it when everything is done. I’m sure Bailey will give it his stamp of approval too ;).

The dress I wore for the wedding I bought on line. I took a chance. It’s really hard to fit me since I’m short and little though muscular but I took the leap. The dress fit as if I were it’s form model. I was very happy. And it only cost $47. Yup, a Kohl’s buy with all the discounts ;).

I hope you have a great weekend!

LOL, do we ever really have time off? ;o)

Viki, I hope I can pull this off! It’s important to me to do it right.

Bailey is going to be the highlight of our month :-)

What an awesome deal on your dress!! And you’re right, between being tiny and muscular (and in great shape!) it’s sometimes hard to find clothes that fit right. I wish I could see a picture!

    Have a great weekend!

B.E., of course! I want to read it!

If you figure out how to get real time off, let me know :-) Even when I’m not working, I’m worrying.
