Friday Five

Happy Friday! Okay let’s do this!

  1. I started my Christmas shopping, sent out 3/4s of my Christmas cards and decorated my house. Huge Kudos to Wizard for computerizing our mailing list so all I had to do was print labels for that batch of Christmas cards :-) Handwriting causes problems for me so this really helped! (FYI, typing doesn’t bother me unless I’m doing it for eight hours straight. But more than a half page of handwriting is a killer.)
  2. I got my Gingerbread House book! It’s really cool. It shows step by step how to design and bake the cookies for your house, then how to assemble and decorate them. And there are houses for all year long (Valentines Day, Halloween, etc). It’s a lot of fun to look at.a-year-of-gingerbread-houses
  3. But I’m don’t have time to design and bake my own houses right now. And since I’ve done cake decorating, I know that I’m going to need to practice to get the feel for it. So I bought a couple kits, but I haven’t had time to play with them yet. jen-with-two-gingerbread-kits
  4. I had the most delicious ever bagel and cream cheese at Starbucks. Wednesday morning I did the whole fasting thing to go do my blood work. After donating 8 freaking vials to satisfy two blood-thirsty doctors, I was starved and needed coffee. So I headed to Starbucks, and with my nonfat latte I got a plain bagel with cream cheese. The fact that I was clearly weak from hunger and blood loss probably contributed to my bagel love, but man, it was good!
  5. OH!!! And here’s the cover for Good, Bad & Sexy coming January 23, 2017! You can mark it to read on Goodreads heregood_bad_and_sexy_600x900

This weekend, I need to shop, plan some baking, play with my gingerbread houses and write, write, write! What are your plans? Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Yay for getting the shopping and the mailing almost done! Good luck with your gingerbread. Those kits look cute! Yay for yummy bagels right when you need them. And that cover totally rocks!

    Here’s mine:
    1) I made a batch of cookies yesterday. Not for Christmas but just because. Chocolate fudge peanut butter chip cake cookies.
    2) I got my holiday cards out. Just a couple left to hand deliver. And my shopping is done – but I don’t have many people to shop for.
    3) Hubs and I got each other fishing stuff we’ll both use.
    4) If all goes well with the postal service, the Kid should be getting her Christmas package today.
    5) They keep telling us we’re going to get snow, but not a flake yet.

    Have an awesome weekend! :hugs:

Dang….Those are some over-achieving gingerbread houses. Have fun with your kits.

    Here’s my five:
    1) I have time to do Christmas cards but my mailing list is in a file on my desktop, which is currently being held hostage, for the 3rd day at the computer geek day. I can’t even get a callback. Lawyer Guy is headed over there at noon if we’ve had no word. NOT a happy camper…

    2) I have done NO Christmas shopping because no one has given me a list so bah humbug!

    3) I’m really excited about the Red Dirt book after next. Excited about it, too, but brainstorming #8 with LG left us both gigglesnorting.

    4. Speaking of writing, I need to do some but working on the Mac Air kills my carpal tunnel. :-?

    5. Jiminy, I sound like such a Debbie Downer. I’m really not, just frustrated because my work routine has been interrupted. I HATE when that happens. So, final thought… Even though it’s cold outside, it’s beginning to feel–and look–a lot like Christmas! :D

B.E., the gingerbread kit has been a goal for days. This week is just filled with speed bumps slowing me down. On the other hand, I’m sort of afraid I’ll either make a mess of it, or become obsessed with making gingerbread houses, LOL.

I saw your cookies in my feed :-) Ho, ho, ho on getting your holiday cards out and shopping almost done. You and hubs enjoy fishing, so it sounds like the perfect gift! Hope your kids loves her Christmas packages and that you get just the right amount of snow :-)

    Enjoy your weekend!

Silver, I know, right? The overachieving gingerbread houses are scaring me a little, LOLOL!!

You must be soooo frustrated right now! It’s drive me out of my mind to not be able to access my computer files, and not getting a call back would drive me to rage. I hope LG can get that resolved.

We’ve been begging for lists too and pretty much just making executive decisions where we don’t have one. BLB is the one holding out on us this year.

    Love the gigglesnorting brainstorming!

Ugh on carpal tunnel. I know that pain well.

You’re not a Debbie Downer. You can always vent here!

Hope you’ve already heard from your computer guy and things will look up this weekend.

    Nice cover!

    1. I finished shopping and am now awaiting deliveries.
    2. Began decorating – will finish tomorrow.
    3. Made up the bed in the spare room because hubs thinks it may help his lower back. Not thrilled about this :(.
    4. I hate doing cards so I have not started yet. Plan on doing them over the weekend.
    5. Figured out how to sign up for the HSA on insurance. We have one month this year but can dump a full years worth of money into it – sounds great to me.

Middle boys BD dinner is tomorrow night. Really looking forward to the family getting together.

    How is your cold?

    Have a nice weekend :)!

Viki, I’m jealous that you’re finished shopping! Hope you can get through the chore of cards quickly and enjoy your decorations. I’m really sorry about your hubby’s back, and hope the HSA works out for you.

Happy Birthday to your middle son!

Cold’s just hanging out so far. My throat and knees are sore (viruses are weird like that) but so far, it’s just running its course.

    Is your arm improving?

Hope you have a great weekend and middle son’s birthday dinner is awesome.

Jenn, Yuck on the cold still hanging around. You might want to try taking a table spoon of organic honey every few hours. It always seems to help my throat. It may even help the joints (never know, honey is like a miracle drug).

Last night was not a success for hubs back, but I slept 4 hours ;). He woke up with more aches than normal. He’s going to try sleeping there again tonight and see what happens.

My arm is still a problem. I’ve seen three different people about it and they all come up with a different cause and no solution. Hopefully it will go away soon. As for now – no fudge is being made this year. It’s going to be a shock to everyone since I normally make 32+ pounds each year.

    Have a wonderful weekend :)!

Viki, on no on your arm! This isn’t good. Can they do an MRI or has that been done already? I’m so sorry you’re living with this pain. It sucks that you can’t make the fudge too.

Your poor husband. Both of you are going through a lot right now.

Really hoping that 2017 brings some real solutions for your arm and hubby’s back.
