Happy Friday Five

Here we are again–another Friday! And we know what that means–time to do our Friday Five!

  1. Youngest Son’s birthday is this week. For those of you who remember him as BLB (Broken Leg Boy), he’s doing so much better these days. I still admire that boy so much. He could have let this injury defeat him. But nope, he recalibrated his life and thrived despite dealing with limitations and pain.
  2. I mowed the yard for the second time. It’s not a great picture but that’s me mastering the lawnmower. It amuses me only because Wizard has such a weird thing about it–he doesn’t think his wife should have to mow the yard. It’s a point of pride–like he won’t let me carry bags when we’re shopping. It’s a guy thing I guess? But obviously, I’m fully capable. (Even if Wizard does a better job).
  3. The weather dudes have been predicting a Monster Storm to hit sometime last night and today. I dunno…we’ve had more rain that we’ve had in years, but I’m still skeptical. Southern CA weather dudes tend to exaggerate. We’ll see around the time you guys all read this blog.
  4. For any who missed it in my newsletter, here’s the one for Savaged Dreams, book 1 in The Savaged Illusions Trilogy! It’s on Goodreads, and up for pre-order at B&N / iBooks / Kobo / Google Play  and I’ll get it up at Amazon next month. Amazon limits pre-orders to 90 days before release.
  5. I’m writing away on Savaged Vows (book 2–tentative release month July 2017). Even though I know this story, these characters keep surprising me as they grow and mature. I think one of the hardest things is that I wish I could spare Justice and Liza from what’s coming–but I can’t. I have to let them crash and burn so they can truly learn that’s important.  It’s tough being an author-parent sometimes :-)

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Happy Birthday, BLB! (He’s my favorite, doncha know, but that’s more shared pain than anything. LOL) Wizard is a gentleman. It’s what gentlemen do. Hubs is the same way. He hates when I do what he considers his chores. Fingers crossed the storm isn’t as bad as they’re predicting. Yay for Savaged Dreams! And yay for progress of Savaged Vows!

    1) I rolled over 30K on Wish Hits the Fan last night and got to crumple up two sticky-note plot bunnies I dealt with. Yay.
    2) We cleaned flower beds yesterday. I hated to do it this early in the year, but my bulbs were already sprouting and coming up retarded under the leaf litter.
    3) My roses are going crazy with new buds and shoots. Yeah, Spring is about 6 weeks early here. Stupid groundhog.
    4) I was feeling lucky Wednesday, so I bought $10 worth of lottery tickets. I won a dollar. So much for feelings. LOL
    5) Hubs and I spent a couple hours picking up trash at the lake the other day. It was a lovely afternoon and now that particular area looks so much neater.

Happy Birthday, YES (Youngest Excellent Son)! He, like all your kids, is amazing! As for Wiz, it’s a guy thing. LG did that until the BiL got us yard service for life for Christmas one year. My weather guys are saying the same thing your weather guys are saying and normally, local guys don’t spend a lot of time on the stuff out your way, except when it’s going to affect us in a big way. I’d take an umbrella if you leave the house. You know, just in case. Y’all need the rain like we do. Yay for Savaged Dreams! Love the cover. Ooh…torturing characters. My favorite thing! :D Okay…my five.

    1) I discovered that Harlequin (on their site) releases new books about a month before they’re available in other retail venues.

    2) My current heroine in RDR#8 makes me laugh. A lot. Zoe is a trip. And Tucker is…agog. Agog, I say!

    3) I’m reading/listening to Patricia Briggs’s Alpha and Omega series. Not sure why I haven’t glommed onto these before. I’ve read a couple of her Mercy Thompson books but didn’t stick with it. Must rectify that as well.

    4) I really need to start walking or get on the gazelle. All it takes is time. The weather is nice so maybe I’ll figure out how to fit it in.

    5) I need a nap. Or need to start sleeping later. Or both. Of course, I was asleep before the news last night (because I’d been awake since 4 a.m.), woke up at midnight, 2 a.m., 4 a.m., and gave up a 6 a.m.

    Have a great weekend!

B.E., I think I’ve talked about Youngest more here too. But I can see why you connect with him.

    1) I love sticky notes! Just saying… Congrats on your progress.
    2) I’m sure your flowers appreciate the cleaning.
    3) The groundhog does seem confused.
    4) Next time you’ll win the jackpot! I mean someone has to right?
    5) It’s just sad that we have to clean up after others like that, but you get to enjoy the view at least.

    Have a great weekend!

Silver, it’s looking really ominous outside and it’s raining north of us (L.A.). This thing may be real.

    1) Wow that’s cool! I wonder if that’s a new feature with Harlequin?
    2) Zoe sounds like a hoot to write and poor Tucker, I’m guessing he has no clue what hit him :-)
    3) I read one or two of her Mercy books and didn’t follow through either. I need to catch up on reading.
    4) I hear you on exercise.
    5) I’m in the same not-sleeping pattern. So annoying.

Hope you get rest and have a good weekend!

You live in the scv? I’m here as well in the local high school district. Hope you weather the lovely, windy storm well.

    1. It’s sunny and strange here. Warm, in the high 50’s and will be for 7 days. This is SO not February. But, I still have snow on the ground ;).
    2. Took the car to be washed. Had to get the salt off. She looks really nice ;).
    3. Ducks are playing on my front porch awaiting hubs to give them corn.
    4. Insurance is driving me crazy. Hubs is going on medicare in May. Seems my plan stays as is with the same cost as for two of us until next years enrollment. I could smack our stupid government upside the head.
    5. Hope to go see Pee Wee tomorrow :).

    Love the cover.
So glad you and Wizard got to go out Tuesday. We went out too and had a nice early dinner.
    Happy Birthday to BLB!
You look like you’re enjoying mowing. I can’t do it. My allergies go nuts.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

Hi Janell, I’m in Riverside County, CA. Is SCV Santa Clarita Valley? We’re getting hit pretty hard here tonight (Friday night.)

    Viki–
    1) The weather is pretty crazy all over the country, it seems.
    2) I bet your car is gorgeous and proud, LOL! I’d want the salt off me too.
    3) Aw on the ducks! So cute that hubby feeds them.
    4) I’m going to be right where you are with insurance soon. It’s frightening.
    5) PEE WEE!!! I’d love to see a picture of him if you have time to take one!! Such a cute dog!!

I was happy to mow. I’m not physically exhausted like those first two weeks to two and a half of his recovery. So a half hour to mow the yard is nothing :-) And I took an allergy pill–but it sounds like yours allergic reaction is worse.

Hope you have a great weekend and that you get to see Pee Wee!

Jenn – He wouldn’t hold still except when he had a treat ;). I’ll try and send you the pic with a FB message.
    Enjoy that cake – YUM!
