Weekend Roundup

OMG it’s so HOT!! On Saturday, we went to a picnic at CPA Boy’s work to celebrate his boss’s birthday. It was one of the best work picnics we’ve been to, and we had a great time. CPA Boy and Youngest Son, BLB, work with an awesome group of people. And I’d like to also add that Middle Son and his awesome Girlfriend came because they are supportive and just as wonderful. I was so proud to show off all three of my boys <insert preening mom moment here>. But as luck would have it, we had record-breaking heat that day, and by the time Wizard and I got home, we were exhausted. I was falling asleep at 8:45. The heat is supposed to get a little better this week.

Sunday, I worked. I’ve put so much pressure on myself, I’m trying to stop it and let the story flow. Yesterday was better, and fingers crossed that I’m getting out of my own way here and letting the characters tell the story.  It’s when I try to control the story I get into trouble :-) I still have no idea if I’m going to make my deadline. All I need for my editor is a rough draft. I’m still a long ways from that, but I think I have a shot if the rest of this month cooperates.

In my break time, I went onto a website with the sneaky idea to book a quick trip to Vegas for my birthday and surprise Wizard. Yes I know that sounds weird to surprise Wizard for my birthday, but he wouldn’t have to worry about getting me a gift (unless he wants to get me a French bulldog, or any dog!) and I’d have a trip to look forward to after turning in this book, so it’s a win-win. I found some nice deals…until I realized every single one of them had “resort fees” not included in the advertised price. I was ticked. I hate false advertising with a passion :-(

That was my weekend. How about yours?

Ugh, sorry to hear about your heatwave. It’s hot here, too, but nowhere near what you’re getting slammed with. :hugs: Yes, get out of your own way. Give yourself permission to suck. And get that puppy out. Vegas is fun. I hope you get to go.

My weekend was one long editing session with breaks for chores, TV, and eating. But I got it done and off to my editor, so it’s all good. I was so much more tired after this one than any of the others, though. I was ready for bed by 7:30, but I made myself stay up until 9. Then *crash*. Today should be better. Once I go fishing. ;o)

B.E. You’re so right on giving myself permission to suck. A timely reminder for me, thank you!

I saw that you finished your edits and go them into your editor! I was happy dancing for you :-) Hope you were able to enjoy some quiet fishing time this morning.

    Happy Monday!

Glad you all had a nice time at the picnic in spite of that ungodly heat. I feel so bad for you. Do you guys have air-conditioning? I know many people in San Diego that don’t.

Love you taking the proud momma moment – you’re supposed too :).

What an excellent idea for your birthday but I think most places have resort fees now. It’s really annoying. I hope you can come up with a nice little vacation.

It’s been stormy here today so I’ve been off line. I’m in between lines of thunder right now ;). The rain is good.

Bought the CBD oil caps (expensive – $1 a pill) and have tried them two nights now. They remove all pain for about 2 hours. It creeps back. Everything else just dulls the pain if it does anything at all. I’ll see how a couple more days go.

I hope you have a great evening :)!

Viki, yes we have air conditioning, thankfully! We live in a hotter spot than San Diego, so we need it.

The resort fees ruined the moment for me. Wizard wasn’t excited when I told him, so I’m skipping the getaway idea for now.

Glad you’re getting rain, but I’ve been having my laptop on standby for that exact reason. I work on it (unplugged) in if the power is surging or out.

Hmm, okay some relief is good but you need more than two hours worth. Do you think continued use my build up to more relief?

Hope you have a great evening too!

Uhm…what happened to yesterday? I never made it to my “blog roll” to see what was going on in the world. We have the heat too and after having to work out in it yesterday, I came in and collapsed with a migraine. :P

The picnic sounded wonderful and what a fantastic family you have! A quick trip anywhere would be awesome–so long as it isn’t business related. :)

Silver, on no, I’m so sorry about the migraine. Are you feeling better?

    Thanks on my family :-)

I really want a non business trip, but I think it’s unrealistic with stupid health problems. Soon though!

Really hope you’re feeling better and you get some relief from the heat.
