Wednesday Worthy

Happy Hump Day! It’s brutally hot here in Southern California. In a piece of good news, I had my appointment at the pain clinic and they are recommending a series of three shots. If all the stars align, I may be able to get one of two of them before going to Florida in Oct, which would be very helpful. Now Wizard and I are debating if I should do the shots with just a local, or under anesthesia. I’m leaning toward just a local and Wizard is lobbying hard for IV anesthesia. I was surprise at how strongly he felt about this, but I’m still leaning toward a local :-) I just hope we can get this approved.

Today for Wednesday Worthy, I have a very important question for you all. But in order to arrive at a fully informed answer, you must first study these two pictures carefully.

Okay ready??? Here’s the question…chain or towel? I just can’t decide, although I think for me, the chain shot screams paranormal hero while the towel shot looks like a sexy contemporary. What do you think?

P.S. A shout out to Silver James for releasing Assassin’s Moon! And also, let’s keep Silver in our thoughts as she’s recovering from a mishap that she describes on her blog here. Get well soon, Silver!

I’ll take two of those to go, please! And I agree–paranormal and contemporary. Yum!

Thanks for the good wishes. I’m feeling better but for the sore muscles (always worse the SECOND day…why is THAT?!?!?!) and when I forget about the knot and bruise on my forehead and touch it. And thanks for the shout-out on ASSASSIN’S MOON. I hope people enjoy reading it!

What the heck kind of shots require anesthesia? Dang, woman!! I vote with wherever you think your pain tolerance is. Me? Probably local because the IV stuff messes me up and doesn’t always work anyway (ask the dental surgeon who took out my wisdom teeth when I relayed everything he said to the nurse during the operation – ). Wiz is just looking out for you so I’d probably talk to some medical folks you trusted about pros and cons of each. Bottom line, though, if the shots fix the problem? Yeehaw! Yeah, trying to get back into Red Dirt Royalty head space.

Silver, I’m glad you’re okay, but I really feel for you! It had to be a scary fall. You’re welcome on Assassin’s Moon, I have it on my Kindle!

They shots go into the small joint in my neck (C 4-7), and it’s a process. First a dye is injected to make sure the need is in position, then the steroid is pushed in. Most you and x-ray of some sort to insert the need. It’s not like a flu shot :-) Unfortunately I didn’t even meet the doctor doing it or get much information. I’m leaning toward a local.

And WOW on your wisdom teeth! I startled the heck out of my anesthesiologist when I had foot surgery years ago by waking faster than he expected while they still had the tourniquet on and the surgeon was finishing the close. I was fine though, no pain, just awake and talking. You’re experience sounds worse.

Keep resting so you can get well!

Man those shots sound like you need to be completely still like with an epidermal. Wizard may have a point if you think you might move.

I think part of my problem is the teres major and minor muscles. They’re little and hard to hurt but when you do look out. All the symptoms are there so I’m trying the exercises and having hubs rub in gel. As I was reading the info I was stunned at how I fit it completely. After 11 months I’ve had it.

I like the towel best :).

    Heal fast Silver.

    Have a nice evening!

Viki, I talk to my PT therapist today too. She’s like me, would rather do a local. But staying still is something I’m thinking about too. It’s a good point. My goal is for these shots to help the nerve pain so I can push harder in therapy.

Do you know how you hurt the muscle originally? Was it lifting weights? Eleven months is a really long time, I’m hoping you don’t need a surgical repair but I really don’t know a lot about that specific injury.

I really hope you get relief soon!

Jenn, I have no idea how I hurt the muscles. But it may even be more than just these two muscles. One of them allows a nerve to rub on the bone so I’m just banging my head against a wall.
Surgery doesn’t seem to be a solution. In fact there is no real total fix unless you realize the problem right away. Mostly heat and ice and stretches. We’ll see.

I hope the shots get rid of the pain for you too. Pushing harder on the PT, I can see that :).

Oh, how are you guys with the fires?

    Have a great day :)!

Viki, it sounds like a long and frustrating road ahead trying to heal the injury. I feel really bad for you!

There aren’t any fires near us right now. We’ve been having 112 degree heat, and thunderstorms in teh afternoons, which is a double edge sword. The lighting strikes are dangerous, but the sporadic downpours help :-)
