Weekend Roundup

I spent most of this weekend watching the news on Hurricane Irma in between trying to work on Savaged Devotion. I’m writing this blog Sunday evening, and keeping my fingers crossed for everyone in Florida and up into Georgia.

Now for a some personal good news. I’ve had a secret since my birthday and I can finally share! So here’s how it went down. We had a family party for my birthday and while I was opening my gift, CPA Boy (oldest son) and his wife Special K handed Wizard a gift bag. CPA Boy said, “This is for you and mom.”

Wizard was confused. “It’s mom’s birthday.” And tried to hand it to me.

“It’s for you both,” CPA Boys insisted. “You open it dad.”

So Wizard pulled this out.

Wizard was confused, but I took one look I blurted out, “You’re pregnant!”

CPA Boy and Special K are expecting their first child! Special K is 3 months pregnant and I don’t have words for how thrilled we are.  CPA Boy has already read a bunch of baby books :-) He’s going to be a great dad, and he chose the best woman ever to be the mother of his child.

Can you tell we’re excited?

So how was your weekend?

P.S. I’m aware that it’s 9/11, and I’d like to just say this. Life goes on, but we will not forget the who were hurt, died, sacrificed or rose to be a hero in one of our most desperate of times.

    Yay! Congratulations to you all!

And I think today is perfect to celebrate new life. I haven’t forgotten, nor will I ever, but life does go on and we should celebrate it. :hugs:

The weekend was pretty bland. I read a lot. Did some grocery shopping. Did some writerly business type things. Getting ready for the book release thing. Hubs and I went for a drive yesterday and explored some roads we’d never been down. It was good to get out and see new sights.

OMG! So excited for your family! Congratulations and what a sweet way to reveal their news! <3 <3 <3 Only and Baseball Boy did something similar on Lawyer Guy's and my anniversary. One of our presents was a framed sonogram. :D

And yes, while today is solemn and the hurricane left a path of hopefully not terrible destruction, life is meant to be lived and celebrated and a new life is meant to bring joy!

I mostly played slug this weekend. I couldn't afford to but the brain wouldn't engage. I need to knock myself out of this spiral. It was a good sports weekend for my teams, though. I spent a lot of time watching the wall-to-wall coverage of Irma. So many friends in Florida to worry about. :-|

Here's to a more productive week for all of us!

Congratulations! I am so happy for you. I love how they told you. Funny how our kids all do stuff like that now. Ours did it at the Mother’s Day?Graduation/Birthday party. They really do come up with cute ideas to surprise us.

My coffee buddy and her hubby just bought a vacation/retirement house 3 months ago on a canal in Punta Gorda. Yes, we were all on pins and needles. This morning she called down to her neighbor to check on them (the hubs has a heart condition and couldn’t leave) and they told her it looks like they made it through okay. My family down there has no power but all in all they’re good.

Our friends were in from Scottsdale so we went out for lovely dinner Friday night. They hadn’t been back here since they moved in 2009. They were loving all the plants and color  .

    I hope you’re having a great day!

B.E., thank you! I agree we should celebrate new life while remembering.

A new book release is exciting stuff! Glad you got out too. It’s too easy to get trapped in our writer caves.

    Happy Monday!

Silver, the adult kids these days are pretty cute :-) Obviously we’re over the moon happy. They were so ready for a child too.

You know you did have a mild concussion, and that takes time. But otherside, I get that spiral. Mine hit with this book and physical problems and it’s been a battle. Hope you got a lot of words today!

Things look a little more positive in Florida today, but some people definitely got hit hard (like the Keys). We probably know a few of the same people there. Fingers crossed for all of them.

Hope your week is off to a good start!

Viki, our kids are very creative in sharing their news :-) You must be getting pretty close on your bundle of joy.

So glad for you neighbor. Sorry your family’s power is out, it’s pretty wide spread. I hope power is restored soon. It’s hard to live without it.

    Yay for seeing old friends!

I’ve been thinking about PeeWee but am kind of afraid to ask. Hope he’s doing okay.

    Have a great week.
