Friday Five

I’m getting windburn from the speed of the weeks whizzing by! So here we are at Friday again, and it’s time to list five random things about our week. Here are mine:

  1. Wednesday I saw my pain doctor. The second shot was not “magic” but it made a little progress. However the pain doctor said she could visually see I am still in pain and was not surprised I’m not sleep more than a couple hours at a stretch. So she a series of trigger point shots. I think it was nine or so, but I honestly lost track. A few of then really stung, and a few were just a pinch. They’ve already helping with some of the knotting and spasming. The pain doctor expects them to alleviate one more “layer” of pain, leaving what she calls bone deep pain. If that’s true, then we’ll switch to another shot treatment to address that. It’s truly that complex, particularly since I have RA :-) What’s really good about this pain clinic is they hear what I say, and notice things like I’ve lost weight (mostly intentional) and my blood pressure is low (serious lack of sleep). The negative is the shots aren’t always easy. This shows one of the bruises two days after the shots. That one bruise is the worst.
  2. Today I finally have my long-awaited appointment with the audiologist (hearing doc) for a full range hearing test.  I’ve been experiencing pretty significant tinnitus for almost a year now. There’s a slim chance it could be related to the nerve problems in my neck, a greater likelihood that I might be losing some or all of my hearing, or it could be something else. Once we have the results, then I’ll see an ENT. I’m so tired of doctors. I know they are all trying, but most days, I just live my life and ignore everything else.
  3.  The new living room tables came Wednesday. They are a rustic wood, and we like then, but we want to try to whitewash them to a lighter, distressed finish. Wizard is doing all the research on that since he knows a little bit about refinishing. The tables weren’t expensive, so we think it’s worth a shot. Here’s the coffee table now:
  4. Wizard had his post op appointment and the stitches removed. He’s doing great. I won’t get into his details, but I want to say this–we often denigrate and make fun of cosmetic surgery and surgeons as frivolous and vain. But this highly-trained surgeon used a “cosmetic” procedure that dramatically improved Wizard’s quality of life that was being affected by a very rare and little known condition. I just want to give a huge shout out to the amazing people out there in the medical and research fields who ignore all the white noise of ignorant, and sometimes smug, criticism and make a big difference in lives every damn day. We are very grateful. Truly.
  5. I’m seeing Biker Witch (my sister) today after my hearing test thing. I’m looking forward to that and inhaling some carbs. This weekend, I plan to hunker down with Maggie and write.

No real news yet on the Grandbaby watch yet:-)  It’s a bit early still, but we’re all jumping when the phone rings anyway!

Okay that’s my week, now it’s your turn to share your Friday Five! I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Wow–total range of stuffs on the med side. Glad most of it is positive! Hang in there. And yay for Maggie and Biker Witch time. LOVE that table. Update us if/when you whitewash.

    Okay, my five:

    1) I sent MONTANA MOON to betas and editor. Yay me.

    2) Our yard guy (who I don’t pay, the BiL does) is lazy when it comes to leaves. He took off the winter but came the other day. He did blow and gather a bunch of leaves but all the rest? He left piled up in a flower bed, 2-3 feet deep in some places. And he weed-eated my “candy tuft” bush that was just putting out leaf and blossom buds. Grrr. LG blew a good portion of the leaves into the driveway last evening. I get to bag them today.

    3) It’s going to be 80 degrees today. *flail*

    4) I finished reading Jennifer Armentrout’s MOONLIGHT SINS. Wow. Gothic. :) But a lot of typos for a big publisher book. :(

    5) I have too many characters demanding I write their book next. Not necessarily a bad thing, but frustrating because life and other demands keep interferring.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, eveyone! (Tomorrow) Have a great weekend.

    1. Ouch!
    2. Hope all went well with ear doc. Fill us in.
    3. I like your tables.
    4. I’m glad Wizard is doing well. My step dad had his bags and lids on his eyes done last year at 93. They were so bad he was having trouble seeing and his glasses hurt.
    5. Hope you had a great time with Biker Witch.

1a. Spunk saved me from a leaf getting into the house this morning at 4. He smacked at the window for 10 minutes :).
2a. Harrison put both feet in his poop while hubs was trying to change him
3a. Awaiting Microsoft phone call. They still haven’t resolved the issue with Windows 10 and I sick of all tech!
4a. Not doing anything this weekend :).
5a. It’s cold and sunny. I think we’re supposed to go up to 50 Sunday :).

Have a really great weekend and keep us posted on baby watch :).

Silver, yeah a lot going on, but Wizard and I are both getting treatment and for that, I’m very grateful (so glad I left that other doctor!). Hopefully it will all calm down soon. Thanks on the table, i love it too and I’ll let you know! Now for you:

    1) CONGRATS on sending your book in! You rock!

    2) What the heck with your gardner???? That’s beyond lazy and now you and LG are stuck doing it. I’d be sooo irritated. Mistakes don’t (usually) get to me much, but laziness like that makes me insane.

    3) 80 degrees in March???

    4) I read some of her early work and loved it. I should try that book since I’m striking out on reading material lately.

    5) I hope your characters will form an orderly line and wait patiently for you to get to their stories. I know that’s wishful thinking though :-)

    Have a great weekend!

Viki, audiologist found some issues on right side where ringing is the worst. That gives us some concrete info to consult an ENT on. So progress! Hopefully it’s a minor issue. Otherwise I had a great time with biker witch. And how awesome for you step dad. Bet he was much happier after that surgery. Now your five:

    1) Spunk is very serious about those pesky leaves, LOL!

    2) Harrison!!! That’s pretty funny, I’m assuming hubby managed to deal with it?

    3) On no, I can’t believe Microsoft hasn’t resolved this yet. I hope it finally gets fixed today.

4 & 5) Hope you enjoy your quiet, sunny and warmer (although 50 degrees high is cold to me!) weekend!
