Friday Five

Happy Friday! Okay so everything got crazy…again :-) I’ll try to come up from five things for Friday Five, but once again, I’m fried.

  1. So our grand baby. He had his pediatrician appt. Wednesday. Everything was great, until the blood work came back with some jaundice. His poor parents! Anyway, the baby is doing fabulous with the treatment. And this is a great example of why good prenatal and post-delivery care is vital. But it’s been a wild ride for over a week now and his poor parents really need a break. I may go out there today and help, or Special K’s mom may do it, which ever works out best for everyone. Either way, there’s plenty of help.
  2. Maggie’s been a trooper! I left her in her doggy daycare overnight on Monday, and they’ve said I can just drop her off as needed through all this. They said she just hangs out, walks around and plays with the other dogs. Yes we pay for this, but they are so good to her, it’s really one less thing to worry about. She’s safe and happy, and seems to understand that Wizard and I are coming back.
  3. Life is fabulous but man, it’s just non stop stuff. Wizard and I have other stuff going on, and we can’t quite catch our breaths with it all. Did I ever say that I was bored or something? Just asking…
  4. I made chocolate chunk cookies. Originally I was going to take them out to the new parents (and get some to my other two sons) but that all shifted with the baby needing some extra treatments (again, he’s doing great), so now I’m pretty much just scarfing them down.  Wizard is helping with that chore, LOL!
  5. What’s the last super-duper great, can’t put it down, book you read? I’ve finished one, that right ONE book, in something like three weeks (not counting audio books which I listen to in the car or while cleaning). I need a book that hooks me so hard I’ll blow off everything else to read.

So that’s my Friday Five, now it’s your turn to share yours!

Positive thoughts for Junior Wing Slayer Hunter and his parents. Good girl Maggie! Yay for fabulous! Yay for cookies! My last can’t-put-it down books were a series – The Jason Crane (Sleepy Hollow) books by Richard Gleaves. But they’re kinda YA paranormal so maybe not your bag, but they kept me enthralled.

    1) I finally sent my book off to the editor. A week late, but I think I’m still on track for a late April release.
    2) My plants arrived and I got most of them in the ground yesterday. Here’s hoping they thrive.
    3) I’ve been working on the gravel path along the front of my house. It’s shaping up pretty good, but I need 5 more bags of marble chips to finish it.
    4) Spring is here in the Ozarks, and I’m trying to make everything outside pretty again.
    5) Between the weather and life, I haven’t been fishing much. Maybe today. (Then again, I said that yesterday and the day before to no avail.)

Sending good thoughts to Junior Wing Slayer Hunter (totally co-opting B.E.’s nickname for him!) and family. Only jaundiced too but after time under the bilirubin light and lots of feeds, she bounced back. Maggie is such a good girl! When did you find time to bake?!?! Last book I couldn’t put down? *scratches head* I had to go back at look at my Goodreads list because it’s been awhile. The last two 5 star reviews go to our own B.E.’s BLINK OF AN I (man my eyes were burning because I didn’t want to stop reading) and DARK IN DEATH, which was on audio and I kept doing things other than what I needed to be doing so I could listen to it. Okay, my five:

    1) Got the blurb and cover for MONTANA MOON, and procrastinated by doing some memes for release week (April 8th?) and finished formatting/edits so it’s ready to upload.

    2) Drank a lot of coffee because it was one of those weeks.

    3) I didn’t win the lottery.

    4) Stormageddon turned 4 yesterday. Only is a little freaked that she is now the mother of a pre-schooler instead of a toddler.

    5) I piddled with a couple of different WIPs but nothing really caught my imagination. I need to fix that and get focused on one.

Have a great weekend, everyone. Tonight is a party for a WWII vet who’s turned 92 and tomorrow is Storm’s party. Lots of cake FTW!

B.E., I read YA paranormal sometimes, so I grabbed a sample of the book. Thanks for recommending! Love Junior Wing Slayer Hunter nickname :-) He’s doing well and coming home today. It’s been a crazy week, but we’re grateful that he’s doing good. Onto your five!

    1) Yay on sending the book off! You did it!
    2) Crossing my fingers for your plants.
    3) I bet your gravel path comes out really cute. But moving all that gravel is hard work!
    4) Spring is the time for pretty :-)
    5) Hope you get some fishing in this weekend!

    Have a great weekend!

Silver, I love the nickname too. I may just call him Baby Slayer for awhile until we see his personality. He sure brought some drama (and soooo much love!) to our lives in a less than a week, LOL! Glad Only did fine Jaundice too. As you know, it’s not unusual.

I baked the cookies planning to go out to help on Thursday, along with a couple meals. I also planned to send cookies to work with CPA Boy for BLB (they work together). Everything changed with the jaundice so Wizard and I are eating the cookies.

Thanks for the recs, and I have B.E.s on my Kindle, I was waiting until I’m less tired to read that one :-) Now for your five:

    1) Getting the blurb and cover done is huge achievement!
    2) Same here and I need more coffee now.
    3) Dang I didn’t win the lottery either.
    4) Wow!!! I can’t believe he’s four! I remember feeling that way with my last one. I was freaked when he went to kindergarten.
    5) If you find “Focus” can you some my way????

Hope you have a great weekend too, and that’s so cool about the WWII vet! My dad was a WWII vet so I have a real soft spot for them. Celebrate!!!

    1. I’m glad James is okay. It can be scary at first. Good that you are all there to pitch in and help the new parents.
    2. Maggie is so cute. What a good girl at sleeper camp ;).
    3. Bored, how?
    4. The cookies sound great. I need a cookie ;).
    5. Ginger Zee’s Natural Disaster, I Am One was pretty good. I also just finished Cynthia Eden’s Lie Close To Me.

1a. Hubs is going to a going away party for a friend tonight so I don’t have to make dinner :)!
2a. Struggling on what to make for Easter dinner this year. Thinking maybe a standing rib roast.
3a. My water treatment system is acting up again. We should replace it since it’s 21 yrs old and 11 yrs out of warranty.
4a. Need to buy a new refrigerator. Hubs wants to take advantage of the electric company give back for buying a new appliance. Unfortunately, the only one that will fit in my little cubby isn’t on the refund list :(.
5a. Bumming out. I support the Wild Cat Sanctuary and they have lost so many big cats this year. We lost another bobcat today. So sad.

Have a wonderful weekend :)! Enjoy the little guy.

Viki, the baby is home now and doing well–thank you! I knew he was getting the care he needed, I was more worried about his mom and dad. They’re handling it all though :-) I’ll look at those books, thanks! Now for your five:

    1) Nice! I love those breaks from making dinner. Hope hubs has fun.
    2) A standing rib roast sounds good, and looks impressive too. (Not that I’ve made one, LOL)
    3) Ugh, home repairs! They never end. Hope you can find a good deal on a new water treatment system.
    4) Those tight spaces from refrigerators are so frustrating. I wish you could have found one the right size with the rebate.
    5) Oh no! I’m sorry to hear it’s such a tough year on the wild cats. And even more sorry they lost another one today. So sad.

Hope you have a great weekend too! We’re going out tomorrow to help out with the baby :-)
