Weekend Roundup

Once again we got home late last night and I’m writing this fast :-) Why does it always seem like there should be more time to get everything done?

Anyway, CPA Boy’s white birthday cake turned out pretty good. I wish I’d taken a picture but I never took my phone out the entire time I was there. CPA Boy said he wanted a fun cake so I made him a confetti cake with circus animals :-) He was amused.

I also made manicotti and Middle’s fiance brought delicious bruchetta, salad, fruit and wine. It turned out to be a nice birthday for CPA Boy plus we all got to play with Baby Slayer.

We also took Maggie, who got to meet the new baby for the first time. Maggie turned into Nanny Maggie. At one point when dinner was ready, Baby slayer woke up and I held him so his mom and dad could eat. Maggie watched. Then when Baby Slayer fell asleep I put him in his bassinet and Maggie wasn’t happy. She whined wanting me to pick him up. When I assured her he was fine, she plopped down by his bassinet and kept watch.

I still wouldn’t trust her alone with him, but overall, it was a good first meet.

In between all that, my plot-partner and I worked on our books, and I finally figured out the end! It’s very close to my original ending in my synopsis but tweaked to work with the changes I’ve made in the story, so I can now write this last third.

This week is going to be busy. Wizard has another eye procedure on Wednesday which will be an all day thing. We had hoped he wouldn’t need a second one, but he’s one of the rare people that needs a revision. He should be fine.

How was your weekend?

I’m so glad you guys had a nice birthday celebration and that Maggie did well with Baby Slayer. Yay for figuring out the end! And fingers crossed for Wizard. :hugs:

I got the thing worked out with my cover artist and she can still get me a cover in August. Whew. A freeze we had last week killed all the flowers on my redbud, but now the leaves are starting to come out. Yay. My lilac is blooming. My iris bed has buds all over the place. My roses have their first little baby buds. Spring is here! Other than that, the weekend was pretty bleh. I did some reading. Today it’s back to work on editing. I have a month to shape up Sleeping Ugly so I can send it to my editor on time. =o)

CIRCUS ANIMALS FOR THE WIN!!!! That’s so awesome. And I’m not surprised about Maggie. She’s smart. Sounds like you had a great time and way to go on the plotting!

I vegged again for the most part then got inspiration for a scene that wasn’t anywhere near any of the planned books for the rest of this year. GAH! Still, I wrote it out once I figured who the characters were and it fit right in with the plot of that book but it’s like next year but who knows. I wish I could get in the grove and put out a Nightrider novella every month or so. So many stories to tell!

I’m sort of stuck on picking the next book to listen to. Nothing is jumping out at me but I have to run to Walmart so I need a book to listen to. :-?

Waiting on edits to come back. Waiting on acceptance of the next HQ project. Watching baseball and planning on getting serious writing done this week. I need to get on that.

B.E., thanks on all :-) Wizard really should be fine. As long as it works, and aids his vision, I’m all for it.

Yay on your cover artist!! I’ve had both cover artists and editors go the extra mile like that for me too, and I know you appreciate it as much as I do!

Spring is working her magic on your garden :-) The hill outside my office window is blooming too.

Hope you’re week gets off to a great start!

Silver, circus animals are always fun :-) Plus they made CPA Boy laugh. I was a little surprised at Maggie, I thought she’d lose interest in the baby after awhile.

Random scenes like that can be gold. Maybe let it sit for a bit and it’ll come to you where/how it fits.

I want that groove too! But you’ve been producing quite a big, and should be very happy with yourself. I’m impressed.

I had to laugh at your desperation to get a new audiobook before the trip to Walmart–I’m exactly like that. I depend on audio books to keep me from losing my mind in traffic while driving.

Hope you get good news from HQ, your edits are easy and your writing flows!

I love how you decorated CPA boys cake :). You can save the animals for Baby Slayer’s cake in a couple years ;).

What a good girl Maggie is! It’s so true how animals watch over babies. I think it’s instinct. They sense the vulnerability and know they need to be watchful.

So glad you had a nice weekend and I’m thrilled that you have found a way to wrap up the book :).

    Wishing Wizard well this week.

Looked at property this weekend and I love it! It’s way over priced. They bought it 2 1/2 years ago for $160K and have made no improvements and are asking $355K and it’s just land. We’ll see what happens.

    Have a great afternoon.

Viki, I agree it may be instinct in animals. It’s interesting to watch. I’d love to have seen how Bailey reacted too.

Thanks on Wizard. We just want to get it done :-)

WOW that’s a huge profit margin on the land in 2 1/2 years! But if you love it that much, I hope they’re willing to negotiate. I know you guys have looked off and on for a while now.

Hope your week is starting off well!
