Weekend Roundup

You know how to tell Biker Witch is my sister????

So on Saturday, I asked Biker Witch to drive me to a MRI because the plan was to clamp down my head and shove me into a tube for an hour for a brain scan. Yeah, like that’s going to happen while I’m completely sober or, you know, conscious. I can barely handle boarding a plane, walking down those tight aisles with people crowding in front of, and behind me, makes me break out in a clammy sweat. Being shoved into a tube?

Hell. No.

I pulled out my old friend Xanax. I had some left from the last time some doctor decided on this brand of torture. I’d put it in the back of my cupboard and forgotten about it. Saturday, Xanax and I got acquainted. Biker Witch loaded me up in her car and off we went. The MRI went fine. The nice people there strapped my head down, pulled a white plastic looking-cage over it, and pushed me into the machine that was louder than a jet plane for roughly half an hour.

The good news is that while I was in there, I couldn’t hear the tinnitus. Or a bomb going off in the same room. A fire alarm could have sounded and I wouldn’t have known (or cared, thanks to Xanax).

Then I was pulled me out, some glow-in-the-dark juice injected into my veins, and rolled me back into the noise tunnel. I stayed calm, still, and kept my eyes closed, mostly because I only planned to do this ONE TIME. And then it was over. I got a copy of the MRI on a CD and then Biker Witch and I had lunch and came home. I won’t get the results until mid next week, but using my medical degree from UGI (University of Google Images), I scanned the files and didn’t see anything particularly scary like a big tumor. I was also able to determine that yes, I do have a brain in my head :-)

Now we’ll wait and see if the radiologist and specialist agree with my medical assessment.  NOTE: This was just a necessary precaution. I don’t want to make the MRI sound dramatic. There’s only an extremely slim chance there’s anything worrisome going on, we just had to do it to rule things out because of the way my symptom presented.

So back to my question at the top. Do you know how to tell Biker Witch is my sister? In payment for doing this for me, she demanded I gave her my freshly baked chocolate chunk cookies. Only my sister would take payment in chocolate chunk cookies!

Fortunately, I had backup cookies frozen! Shhhh, don’t tell Biker Witch :-).

Seriously, guys, Biker Witch and her Biker Hubby rock! Biker Witch was more than willing to drive all over, navigating through some ugly traffic, to do this for me. She and her Biker Hubby also brought Wizard his very favorite boysenberry pie. That pie helped him feel much better. I’ve always been able to rely on Biker Witch and Biker Hubby for anything, anytime. That’s not something I ever want to abuse, but it’s sure a relief knowing they are there when I need them.

Wizard is recovering well, by the way.

How was your weekend?

Glad to hear it was just a precautionary test. I’m also glad you made it through. Fingers crossed everything turns out normal… or as normal as you ever were. ;o) Yay for Biker Witch and Biker Hubby! And yay for Wizard getting better!

It was a gorgeous weekend here, but other than walks, we didn’t really do anything. Hubs got the yard and the home perimeter sprayed for bugs. I vegged. Time to get my butt back to work this week. Woohoo.

The Bikers rock. Plain and simple! MRIs suck and I don’t have claustrophobia. Glad Wiz is recovering comfortably. My Cards were swept by Pittsburgh but my Cowboys swept OU and they’re now nationally ranked so mostly good baseball. Also OU swept Texas in softball. Our weather was gorgeous too. Lawyer Guy and I ran some errands on Saturday. Digger’s book is coming. Had a brilliant idea for some conflict that took this long to niggle out of my brain.

I’m working on about two hours of sleep, with maybe another hour total of five or ten minute snoozes. Insomnia is not my favorite but I’ll get some writing done, hit the grocery store and then maybe grab a nap before it’s time to fix dinner.

    Have a great week!

B.E., “…or as normal as you ever were.” LOLOL!!! That’s pretty much my goal :-)

Sounds like a good weekend! Walks and relaxing help clear the mind to dive into work this week. Happy Monday!

Silver, ah yes, baseball. If it’s not on our TV, then Wizard is asking Alexa the scores to see where his beloved team (Giants) and most reviled teams (Dodgers) is ranked. Glad at least one of your teams won!

    Yay for nailing the conflict!

I’m so sorry for your insomnia. I feel your misery, and hope you can get back on a restful sleep cycle.

Biker Witch, you deserved them! Wizard’s eaten most of the pie you and Biker Hubby brought for him.

Biker witch knows the best payment ????. Very nice of her to help out with the MRI appointment. How lucky you are that they do them on weekends where you live. I have to have breast MRI’s yearly and they only have appointments during the work week.

Still can’t get over Maggie falling into the pool and the nasty birdie got away ????.

We took Harrison and his parents out to a nice dinner Saturday. He was so cute. He wore a white shirt with a tie printed on it. The tie was askew so he looked like a businessman who had a bad day and was working on his second Manhattan ????.

Yesterday my buddy from college dropped in from TN. Hadn’t seen him in 4 years. Had a good time catching up.

Hope all goes well with the MRI results. Have a good evening.

Viki, yeah we are lucky, although it was a pain for me to get this appointment as they had to have a tech on hand who could do the contrast. Now I’m waiting for the report, but I don’t see any clearly defined scary spots and I have access to all the scans and slices, so that’s positive.

It seems to me you should have an easier time getting your yearly breast MRI. I’m sorry it’s so hard.

I was so shocked when I saw Maggie in the pool! She’s not at all traumatized or leery of the pool since then. Apparently to her, **almost** getting the bird was worth a dig in the cold water. She was more upset about her collar being off while it dried :-)

Harrison sounds so adorable in his shirt with the tie on it! He probably had a hard day being cute and keeping his parents entertained, then taking them out to dinner, LOL! Sounds like you all had a good time.

How fun to see an old college friend! I bet you guys had a lot to catch up on. So glad you got the opportunity to see him.

Hope your week is going well!
