Weekend Roundup

We had a good weekend! I got a little writing done. I’m still climbing out of the plot hole, but I’m making solid progress. The good news is I’ve been able to read (books other than my own) a bit more than I have been, and I’m delighted about that! It feels like more progress. I read right through the third book in the Fifty Shades series. I only liked the first one, and was bored by the second so I never read the third. But I had a professional reason for reading it, and was surprised that I had the concentration level to sail right through it (still not my favorite, but I can see why others love it–to each his own). And now I’m reading a thriller that I’m able to focus on too. I suspect this is a half and half thing: Half from the treatments making my pain more manageable, and half from my brain slowly learning to cope with the tinnitus. Our brains are amazing if we give them the time and training to adjust :-)

Father’s Day was really nice. Two of our sons were out-of-town, and called Wizard (he was happy with that). We went to breakfast, then took Maggie and went to visit Baby Slayer, and his mom and dad. We had so much fun! Wizard and CPA Boy picked up some lunch, and when they came home, Special K offered to take Baby Slayer so I could eat.

I may have pouted.

She took one look at my expression, cracked up, and said, “That’s not happening, is it?”

My daughter-in-law, totally gets me :-)  But that’s okay, I get her. Later, she took Baby Slayer and he went right to sleep on her. She showed me, and said, “Sometimes he just wants his mom.” She meant that in a sharing-bonding, we’re both moms now, way.  Especially since I’ve been telling her that this would happen. They also gave Wizard and Baby James matching shirts, and a gave Wizard gift cards for the toll road. Trust me, it may not sound like an exciting gift, but it’s awesome present for Wizard. It’s both so he can get to his hobby easier once he’s able to do it again, and to see his grandson, and sons, easier. A very thoughtful gift! He was really touched.

Maggie was such a good girl too, despite stealing Baby Slayer’s tiny pair of rolled up socks from the shelf below his changing table. She’s a stealthy little sock thief :-) But that’s about the extent of her mischief. Maggie’s just an easy dog for the most part.

That was my weekend, how was yours???

Awwwww. All of that is just…AWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.

Stormy had the early T-ball game. Only 2/3s of the team made it. Same for the other team. I guess some people won’t get up early on a Saturday so their kid can play ball. Only thanked LG and me profusely for all the mornings we got up at the buttcrack of dawn to drive her to games, while she snoozed in the back seat. There’s another game tonight at 5:30, and I’m betting half the team won’t be there. Ah well. Just more playing time for Stormageddon. ;)

We met the kids for brunch at a favorite local chain of breakfast restaurants yesterday for Father’s Day. It was good.

I napped. A lot. And those naps didn’t throw off what should be a normal sleep pattern. Thank goodness. After a week of insomnia, I needed it.

Other than that, last week was pretty much a bust. Gonna get more done this week. Stop laughing. I AM!

I just love the photo shoot :). We did one too with 4 generations (Cassie’s Grandpa was there :)). The shirts were perfect. That Baby Slayer has one incredible head of hair :).

Glad you got some writing in this weekend. It’s coming along. I think you’re right about the being able to read being linked to the treatments and you adapting to the tinnitus.

Loving Maggie the sock thief    .

Harrison is a “BIG” boy and he doesn’t help at all when you hold him. You know how legs normally wrap around the holder and put some of the kids weight onto our core? Not Harrison. He’s dead weight all the time. I thought I was going to die when I had him in my arms standing for 15 minutes . I have to say his mama is a strong woman.

I hope you have a wonderful day :)!

Silver, thanks for the awws :-)

I don’t understand parents either. Wiz and I don’t love soccer, but our kids did and we were there for them. But yay for ONLY thanking you and LG!! Kids really “get it” once they have their kids. And it sounds like you guys made it fun sure the kids had a fun day despite the missing players and parents.

I hope you caught up some sleep and feel more rested. It’s so hard to tackle the to-do list on Monday, at least being rested helps.

I got some words in today and hope you did too!!

Also, I only laugh with you, never at you :-)

Viki, you must love the 4 generation photos!! Baby Slayer had just woken up when we did the photos, so he was still trying to clear sleep, LOL! And he was born with all that hair!

Harrison cracks me up! i guess he doesn’t see a reason to “help” when you’re holding him. Baby Slayer is 13 pounds and I get sore, I can only imagine how sore you get! It takes us back to how much energy and strength we had in those days, doesn’t it?

I’ve had a good writing day, and hope you had a good all around day!
