Friday Five

Happy Friday!! It’s time to list 5 random things about our week:

  1. In contrast to my Happy Friday greeting, I’m so damned disgusted by weak, sick cowards committing mass murders. Hate is easy. You know what’s hard? Finding the good in people, situations and life. Doing the right thing, choosing to face problems and strive to work together for solutions.  Courage is being willing to try, and when you make a mistake, own up to it and apologize. But killing? It’s the easy way out. It’s the path of least resistance. Okay…I’ll stop except to say one thing–my heart goes out to all who are touched by these shootings. Rant. Over.
  2. I get so close to getting out of this plot ditch, and something knocks me back in. But I never give up a fight and I will win :-)
  3. Wizard had his six-week check up after his back surgery. The doctor told him he’s doing better than most his patients. I’m not a bit surprised. Wizard is a fighter, and he’s kept himself in good shape which also helps. At this point, he’s at about 60% improvement in nerve pain on one side, and 50% on the other. It’s unlikely he’ll ever be 100%, but there are other options we can look at down the road. He’ll begin PT as soon as all the paperwork goes through. Oh and most of his restrictions have been lifted, and that will help me get a little more time to writing too :-)
  4. I made my first jewelry project, a “paw” bracelet. Here’s a picture completely with my mistake (a missing spacer bead):  I enjoyed doing this and hope to keep learning!
  5. We’re going to a picnic tomorrow, and I plan to take Maggie with us. So naturally I ordered Maggie a new leash to match her snazzy green collar. Wizard rolled his eyes so hard, I’m pretty sure he saw the inside of his brain.

That’s 5 things from my week, now it’s time so share your 5 things. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Maggie totally deserves a new leash! Have fun at your picnic. Ooo, pretty bracelet. I really had to look hard to see your mistake, so I’d say it’s no big deal. Good job, you! Yay for Wizard! And you’ll find a way out of the ditch, even if you have to dig your own stairs.

    1) My edits are due back tomorrow. Ack. That was a fast month.
    2) I’m in the middle of my summer blehs. It’s early this year. I blame the early heat.
    3) Yesterday we had a heat index of 104F. In June. Argh.
    4) I’ve been spending a lot of time inside reading. Caught up on my reading goal for the year and I’m a smidgen ahead.
    5) The local cottontails have accepted Hubs as one of their own. They don’t even run when he walks down to feed the deer and he has to shoo them out of the way. They hop a few feet and hop right back after he leaves. Silly bunnies.

Maggie will be the center of attention, especiallly if her mom wears that very special bracelet. ;) Yay for Wiz! Boo for the ditch. And all the hate just makes me sick. I can barely watch the news anymore. Okay, my five:

    1) Like it is up in B.E. country, it’s HOT here. Ugh.

    2) OMG. The edits. I have an ambidextrous heroine (she’s not supposed to be), “I don’t care” every other paragraph in one chapter, and other headdesking stuffs. I shall prevail!

    3) T-ball got rained out. The game was rescheduled for when I’ll be in Denver for RWA. I’ll miss two games. :(

    4) Finished Nalini’s series and new release. Decided to re-listen to Ilona Andrews’ Kate Daniels series while waiting for the audio book for their new release in the spin-off series to drop. Evidently, I haven’t done a reread since 2015, according to Goodreads. Weird, because I’m pretty sure I have, just maybe didn’t record the books. Ah well. Still a great series.

    5) And…I got nuttin’ honey for a fifth thing. Life has been a lot low-key beyond the usual dull and boring RL intrusions.

    Have a great weekend!

B.e., thanks on all. I had to restring the bracelet a couple times to figure out the right technique of crimping the tubes or beads that attach the fasteners and hold it all together. In the final version, I didn’t even realize I missed a spacer bead until it was all done. I can fix it, but right now, I’m just thrilled it’s holding together :-) Now for your five:
    1) Wow that was a fast month! You’ll get the edits done.
    2) I blame the heat too. Although we’re in a break that’s keeping us under a 100 for a couple days. But my heat tolerance is way down these days.
    3) Too Hot!!! Stay in the air conditioning!
    4) Yay for reading. Not much else is tolerable in the heat.
    5) Your husband really must be the Bunny Whisperer, I’m impressed! Maggie and I see cottontails dailey on our walks.
    Have a great weekend!

Silver, I’ve gotten to where I prefer to read the news so I can mentally filter out certain things. I hear you. We’ll see how Maggie hands the crowd of people tomorrow. I think she’ll do well. Now for your five:
    1) The heat’s awful for you guys. Hope you get a break soon.
    2) You will prevail for sure, but isn’t it crazy what we find????
    3) Bummer on missing T-Ball :-( But yay for going to RWA! This year, life ate up my travel budget. I hope you have a great time!!
    4) You’re so good about recording your books, but it’s easy to forget. I’ve been trying all different kinds of books on audio and finding some really interested ones.
    5) Real Life intrudes way lately, plus your doing edits and those are so consuming it’s hard to think about much else.

Hope you have a great weekend!

    1. Agreed!
    2. You’ll be out of the ditch soon and all will be well :). Never give up is the Leo way ;).
    3. Way to go Wizard. What a great report from the doc. Bet Wizard is quite pleased as are you :).
    4. I love your paw bracelet. The missing spacer bead adds character.
    5. Have a great time at the picnic. Nice that Maggie gets to go too. Love her new matching leash. Looking forward to a update on Baby Slayer.

1a. It’s freaking hot and ungodly humid. Hate it!
2a. My cat is addicted to snow peas. Hubs planted some just for the little guy. Now every time hubs comes into the house Spunk expects a pea :-D .
3a. Harrison screamed at hubs today. Seems the “BIG” guy had his hand under his storybook and sat on it thus crushing his fingers. All grandpas fault.
4a. I keep falling asleep when I read so I’m not getting anywhere. Bugs me when I’m not reading.
5a. Thinking about going to hubs older brothers Sunday am fishing. We’ll see. It’s going to be extremely hot so I may not go.

Have a great weekend and stay cool.

Viki, Baby Slayer is doing great! We saw him Wednesday- and will see him again tomorrow :-) Thanks on the bracelet. I can fix it, but I also don’t mind showing my mistakes. Okay now for yours:
    1) Humidity makes heat a million times worse. I feel for you!
    2) LOL on snow pea addiction! And hubs has a soft spot for Spunk to plant snow peas for him.
    3) Poor Harrison! And poor hubs getting blamed for it.
    4) I do the same thing reading, so I know how you feel. I’ve been listening to audio books while I’m doing things. Like today I listened while cleaning bathrooms.
    5) I’d be leery of going out in the heat and humidity too.

Whatever you decide to do, hope it’s a great weekend!
