Friday Five

Happy Friday, at least I think its Friday. Having a holiday midweek has thrown me way off! So here’s 5 random things from my week:

  1. The heat wave is back—ugh. My phone says it’s supposed to be 113 today.
  2. Because of the heat, I’m taking Maggie for her walk at 6:30ish in the morning and skipping the afternoon walk.
  3. We had Biker Witch and her hubby out for 4th of July and really had a great time. Sometimes it’s nice to keep it small and simple. The apple pie was good too :-)  That was the good part, the bad part was all the illegal fireworks.  It was frustrating because we took Maggie with us to see the city fireworks, and through those she laid at my feet. She was scared and shook a bit, but overall she handled it. We thought she’ll go home, relax and realize, Oh hey, that wasn’t so bad. But instead we pulled into what sounded like a war zone in out housing track. Okay I don’t actually know what a warzone sounds like but this was bad (like sonic booms). Still we got off easy compared to some pet owners. Maggie feels safe enough in her kennel, that that’s where she wants to be with no whining, crying or barking. A lot of animals react in mindless terror and can’t feel safe until it stops. Some end up injured or worse.
  4. My MRI was cancelled due to some insurance authorization snafu. I just shrugged, I’ll get it sorted out next week.
  5. We plan to go see Baby Slayer this weekend.  And I’m trying to work despite my pain level going up again. It is what it is.

That’s my Friday Five, now its your turn to share yours! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Okay, now I don’t feel as bad about our heat. 113? Ugh. I don’t blame you for taking your walk so early. I’ve been trying to get out and walk before 9am – 7 if I can swing it. Yay for Maggie! I knew she could do it. Stupid, inconsiderate people. Good thing they didn’t start any fires. Bummer about your MRI. But yay for Baby Slayer!

    1) Yesterday my walk around the neighborhood was also a fact-finding mission to see who was shooting off fireworks the night before. I found two culprits. Not that I’m going to do anything about it, but now we know.
    2) Our black cherry tree is loaded with fruit again this year and as it ripens, the critters are enjoying what’s falling into the grass. Except the raccoons. They climb the tree and get it before it falls. Which knocks fruit onto the roof above our bedroom in the middle of the night. Sounds like it’s hailing. LOL
    3) I’ve been reading up a storm this week. Which isn’t good for my editing schedule. I really have to buckle down this weekend.
    4) I keep having to remind myself that today is NOT Monday. You know, since Wednesday was Saturday and yesterday was the Sunday after it. Gah, I hate mid-week holidays.
    5) Last night we had a thunderstorm roll through around bedtime, which was fine. Whatever. But as soon as the thunder stopped, some neighbors started up with their fireworks again. Not the same two who were shooting them off on the 4th. I really need sleep. And more coffee.

B.E. thanks now let’s chat about your five!

    1) I guess it helps to at least know who’s setting off the fireworks. I don’t do anything about it either. I just like to be aware.
    2) I was picturing a scary movie where a woman is alone in the house and hearing that noise on the roof…the tension builds…and we find out it’s just the racoons :-) Hope you enjoy your cherry tree if you guys can beat the critters to the fruit!
    3) That whole buckling down thing is so danged hard! Hope you can make progress today!
    4) Yeah the week is totally off for me too.
    5) Ugh, the fireworks really because a sore point with me this year, and with others I talked too. Last night was quiet here, but I expect more nonsense over the weekend.

    Have a great weekend!

Ugh! That’s Phoenix-style heat. Our heat indexes range over 100 because our humidity is at 70-80% with temps in the 90s. Poor Maggie. Boone stayed in the master closet. Yay for small family get-togethers. Boo on the SNAFU. Hang in there. Okay…my five.

    1) NIGHT FALL went live quick, then I realized I messed up the blurb. *headdesk* It’s fixed now.

    2) Still trying to catch up on all the fall-out from Kindle Worlds going away. Getting closer. *sigh*

    3) Riding on the float in the 4th of July parade is always fun. I sit next to our 92 yo WWII Navy veteran. He was on the USS Enterprise during Pearl Harbor and the Battle of Midway. He’s so sweet and cute.

    4) Like B.E., the middle-of-the-week holiday always messes me up.

    5) I’m almost done with my re-listen of the Kate Daniels series and then I’ll give the spin-off series (Iron Covenant) a try. The hero of the new series is the villain in Kate’s books. I’m not sure I&A can redeem him. We’ll see.

Busy weekend ahead. Y’all enjoy yours!

    1. 113F – That’s just not right! I hope it’s not humid too.
    2. Smart taking Maggie for her walk early. Watch her feet on the sidewalk. Pads burn so easily.
    3. Happy to hear you had a nice 4th even with the loonies setting off fireworks all the time. Nice that Maggie feels so secure in her crate.
    4. Insurance is such a pain in the butt. Hope you can re-schedule w/o too much effort.
    5. Yes! on seeing Baby Slayer. Have a wonderful time :)!

1a. Storms caused all cable boxes here to go nuts last night even though the storms were no where near us. Since I had no idea the craziness was due to the storms I called for help. At the time they had no idea there was a problem and after 57 mins on the phone set me up with the 1st available app – next Thursday at 2PM. Well when I got on the ipad at 3:20 this morning the had a FB post about the problem. Cancelled app.
2a. Needed milk. Went and bought milk. Started cleaning the floors and wondered who spilled milk on the floor. Looked in the refrigerator to find a huge puddle of milk. Looked where I had put it down in the house and the garage and my BMW – ALL full of milk. The car even had it go into places you can’t get to the clean  . The container has a hole on the bottom.
3a. Sunday Harrison is being Baptized. Should be interesting ;).
4a. The humidity lifted late morning and it’s tolerable right now ;).
5a. Achy day – I think all the frustration contributes to the pain.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

Silver, yep pretty much Phoenix style, LOL! I lived a few years in AZ and it’s just like that right now. We don’t have your humidity though, I pretty sure I’d have a serious meltdown. Okay now for your 5:

    1) Sorry about the blurb error, but you got it fixed! It happens. Yay for betting NIGHT FALL published!
    2) It has to be overwhelming to regroup after the KW closure.
    3) AWESOME on the float and the 92 year old WWII vet! He was right in the middle of it all on those ships! It must feel nice for him to be recognized on Independence Day.
    4) Today is Friday, has been my mantra since I woke up at five-something this morning. We’re all confused, LOL!
    5) I love that twist of the villain turning into the hero for the news series. I’d love to know if she (the author) pulls it off!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Viki, heat, fireworks and insurance snafus are just part of life here, LOL! Okay let’s talk about your 5:

    1) Sheesh that’s incredibly frustrating with the cable company! I can’t believe they wasted some much of your time when they could have just told you it was storm related and would be resolved soon.
    2) YIKES!! I’m so sorry about the spilled milk everywhere. I’ve never had it leak in the car (knock on wood!) but I’ve had it leak in the fridge and been really ticked off. I’m so sorry!! I don’t know how you clean it all out of the car.
    3) Awww on Harrison being baptised! I hope it goes well!
    4) Glad you’re getting relief from the humidity.
    5) Between the cable and the milk leak, I don’t blame you for having an achy day!

I hope the weekend is better than the week, and Harrison’s baptism day is very special!
