Weekend Roundup

Dang it was hot! And it’s still hot today too. Summer is here.

Saturday we went to see Baby Slayer, and he’s as adorable as always! But is it possible, my sweet dog Maggie, is slipping into a life of crime? Maggie never takes anything she’s not supposed to, except around Baby James. To date she has stolen his stuff giraffe twice, two pairs of his socks and this time it was his handmade stuffed pony.

Special K caught Maggie in the act!

I was playing with Baby Slayer and his pony. Maggie saw me and came over to investigate. I told her “No, this isn’t your toy.” Maggie went back to her blanket and watched like a perfect little princess.

When I was done, I put the pony away beneath Baby Slayer’s changing table and walked into the kitchen. I heard Special K called out, “Maggie no.” (She said it way sweeter than I would have!) and I turned to see Maggie drop the toy.

I walked up to Maggie and said, “Did you steal Baby Slayer’s toy?”

She swears she thought Baby Slayer dropped it and she was picking it up for him. No really, that’s how it happened! Honest, Mom!

Should I believe her? LOLOL!!

Overall my weekend was good, and included some writing (yay!). How was your weekend?

I’m guessing Maggie is jealous of Baby Slayer. It’ll pass. I think. Not sure exactly how to get her over it, though.

We had a slight break in the heat yesterday, but it won’t last. I’m chugging along on my edits, which are due on or before next Wednesday. Reading a lot because sitting inside in the AC is the only way to beat the heat. And I’m still exercising, but only in the mornings. It’s all good.

Awwww. Maggie is jealous. Perhaps next time, take one of her favorite toys and take a few moments every once in awhile to play with her with HER toy. Special K is all the awesome. :D

Hot here too but not as hot as there. :? Here it’s more the high humidity on top of the heat. Saturday was busy. The post held a pancake breakfast. LG had to be up at 5 to go to the post. I met Only and Sprout Giant for breakfast there and then we headed to her neck of the woods for the monthly siren test. LG couldn’t cover his siren so I did. Then I met all the kids for lunch at our favorite Mexican place. Came home, did a little work, and napped hard. Yesterday was more work. I have a novella due August 1st. Fun times.

B.E., it could be jealousy. At least she’s not showing it in any form of aggression. She seems to like the baby and is gentle. Like you said, it’ll likely pass.

Reading sounds like a great break from editing and the heat. You’re wise to only do your exercise in the morning. I’m doing that too.

Hope your week is off to a great start!

Silver, good idea. I can take a new toy for her and give it to her when we’re visiting Baby Slayer. She might like that. She’ll adjust though. It’s good for her to realize she can’t monopolize my attention.

You had a busy weekend! Sounds fun and now I’m craving mexican food.

Good luck on writing and staying ahead of the novella deadline!

We all agree, Maggie is jealous. Poor girl. It will fade eventually but until then I’m guessing she’ll be acting out for attention. Keep bringing the two of them together and I think they’ll bond and jealousy will disappear.

Glad you got to see the big guy over the weekend :).

Harrison’s Baptism was yesterday and he was an angel. The church, a bit strange. For those of us who grew up in the standard Episcopal or Roman Catholic faith going to an Evangelical Lutheran service was quite different. Harrison had a great time and that’s all that matters in my eyes :).

    Have a wonderful day :)!

Viki, I think she just wants my attention too. She seems to like Baby Slayer, but she’s super curious about his things and his scent.

What a good boy Harrison is! it seems like most babies cry or fuss at baptisms. I’ve been to Lutheran and Catholic, and they are definitely different. But you’re so right, as long as Harrison and his parents are all doing well and happy, that’s what counts! I bet he was so cute!

Hope you’re having a better week than last week with the cable issues and milk leak!
