Weekend Roundup

Saturday was fun! I went to Fashion Island in Newport Beach (It’s a very upscale area. and not my usual stomping grounds) to meet Middle Son’s finance and her mom for lunch and some shopping. Lunch was wonderful, although I think I talked too much :-)  I was just in a mood to overshare, I think, plus I can talk nonstop about my sons. But his fiance and her mom are both lovely, intelligent and fun women so they made me very comfortable. After that, we headed over to a store to do a little shopping for dresses for the moms. We didn’t find anything, but now I have a good idea what to Fiance would like, what her color palette is and how formal she’d like us to be, which should make finding a dress not too difficult. I enjoyed the day and am really excited about their wedding in October.

Saturday night, Maggie and I were upstairs watching our veterinarian shows while Wizard watched his sports channels when I heard Wizard talking, laughing and another voice I couldn’t quiet make out.  I’m thinking, oh shoot, did someone come over? Cause I’d washed my face, had my glasses on (I don’t care about that) and put on my PJ’s, (NO ONE NEEDS TO SEE THAT!) But nope, it wasn’t anyone in our house. It was Baby Slayer and his dad on Skype showing Grandpa that he could grab his toys and hold them all by himself.

LOLOL! Honestly, I was cracking up. Baby Slayer looked cute and happy and it’s a milestone for sure, but Wizard was really amusing me at his absolute excitement. He’s so smitten by that boy :-)

Sunday, I worked. I finally climbed out of the plot ditch. I’m in the scene I’ve been itching to write, but now I’m second guessing my decisions and driving myself crazy. Of course, this normal for me, and probably a good sign. At least I’m writing again!  However I’m limiting my writing hours, so I’ll have to finish that scene today. I may write on the wall over my desk TRUST YOURSELF AND QUIT SECOND GUESSING EVERY FREAKING DECISION! Just push through the last hundred or so pages, finish the book and fix it all later.

And lastly, I bought some bubbles to blow outside and see if Maggie will chase them. I saw a dog in the park doing it, and thought, well that looks like something Maggie would like. She loves chasing bugs that hop around, so it made sense to me. I came home all excited, took Maggie out back and blew some bubbles.

She hid behind me the entire time, totally confused by the alien beings floating around the backyard.

Yep, nailed it. Sigh.

That was my weekend, how was yours?

Yes. Quit doubting yourself. You’ve got this. I understand, though. Self-doubt is a killer. :hugs: Yay for Baby Slayer! Poor Maggie. And yay for having fun dress shopping!

I spent part of the weekend doing pay-job work. Hubs and I went to the lake for a couple hours, which was nice. I read a bunch. Did some editing and got with my cover artist so she can start working on the cover for Sleeping Ugly. I hope the concept equates to a lot of sales. :fingers crossed: Set up some marketing for Dying Embers for next week. Busy busy.

I agree with B.E. You got this! Now go nail that scene and move on. Awwww. Baby Slayer is gonna be a Grandpa’s boy. :D And poor Maggie. Keep trying with the bubbles. When the newness wears off, she might have fun.

I wrote a lot. Tied up some loose ends, RL-wise. Packed. Doing last minute stuff because for the first time, I did NOT have to leave at the buttcrack of dawn. I have a direct flight that leaves just after noon. Yay.

I’ll try to check in while I’m in Denver. Have a great week.

B.E., I know, I know! Part of the problem is the huge delay in writing this book has caused my to really second guess myself even more. But you’re right and I will!

You had a really productive weekend! Coming up with a cover concept it hard enough, then the work of executing it with a cover artist, and then we wait to see if it resonates with readers–I totally get it! And I love your title Sleeping Ugly if that helps :-)

Hope your busy week is getting off to a great start!

Silver, agree with both you and B.E.! Yep on Baby Slayer and Grandpa, LOL! I’m going to keep trying with bubbles :-)

So you’re off to Denver! Yay! I hope you have a fabulous trip and your workshop goes well (I know it will)!! We want to hear all about it when you get back! Have a safe trip!

Sounds like you had a very productive lunch/shopping trip. Makes it much easier when you know what the Bride really has in mind. By the way, I’m sure you didn’t talk too much.

Love Baby skype. What a big boy taking hold of his toys. It’s so much fun watching them progress.

We know you and how you write so second guessing is all part of the master plan ;).

Poor Maggie. Poor Jenn. Isn’t that how it often works? We try to do something we think they’ll love and it falls flat.

Nothing much happened here this weekend. It was hot and humid, like today. So I stayed in the house :).

    Have a great afternoon.

Viki, thanks yep and the bride isn’t hard to please, I was just waiting until she was at that point in her wedding planning :-)

Baby Slayer keeps us pretty entertained, LOL!

I pushed through the scene today, but the second guessing is hovering on the sidelines, waiting to get called in.

I feel for you with hot and humid! I can barely tolerate what we have here. Hopefully you get a break soon. Wouldn’t it be nice to open windows and get fresh air???

Hope your week is off to a good start.
