Weekend Roundup

The good news: The bridal shower on Saturday was great! What’s not to love? We celebrated one of my favorite niece’s upcoming wedding, and I got to spend the day with my three favorite women (my daughter in law, and my two soon-to-be-daughter in laws), visit family, and spend some time with Baby Slayer, who came by the shower to charm all the girls.

The bad: Our air conditioning went out Saturday evening. We’ll call today and try to get someone out here, but it’s likely going to be a long hot week. The temps are miserable, soaring over a 100 degrees with humidity. I’m going to try to write and keep Maggie cool. Tuesday I have my surgical consult, and naturally it’s at least an hour or more from my house, depending on traffic. The upside of that is at least I’ll be cool for a few hours :-)

That’s my weekend, how was yours?

Yay for the awesome shower and spending time with your wonderful family! Boo for the AC. I hope they get somebody right out to fix it. Meanwhile, stock up on fans and cold beverages. Good luck at your consult. :hugs:

Here? I read a lot, wrote a little, did some exercising stuff… the usual. Our two fawns are doing well and coming in the yard more often. We’ve had a break in the ungodly heat – still hot, just not ungodly hot – which helps all the critters. It’s all good.

B.E., Fans are going everywhere in the house :-) It’s all we can do.

Yay for the break in the heat! Its true with the critters, the heat isn’t easy on them either. And awww on the pretty fawns! Reading, writing and exercising are all good things.

Hope you’re week is off to a great start!

I hope you were able to contact your AC guy and get them scheduled to come out ASAP. I really feel for you guys. I hope you can go for a car ride or something to get some relief.

It’s been in the 90’s and humid here. We’re supposed to drop into the mid 80’s.

Sound like you had a great time at the shower. It’s always fun seeing the stuff they get. So many things didn’t even exist when we were starting out ;).

Hope you get to go see Baby Slayer :).

    Have a good afternoon.
Hubs has been playing T-Rex with Harrison. The kid laughs and grabs his cut down pool noodle and smacks T-Rex on the head. It is so funny to watch.

Being older than dirt, I remember not having AC as a kid. At night, the parents would wet sheets, wring them out and hang in front of open windows so the breeze would blow through. You can also get a cooling effect by putting a shallow pan of water in front of desk and floor fans. The water helps cool the air the fan is blowing. I hope the repair guy can come ASAP! Those are DANGEROUS temps, especially if you aren’t used to them. :/

Yay on the shower, though. That’s awesome. Hope the appointment goes well and yeah, good to be in an AC’d car and MD’s office for break.

I’m late because I had to finish editing the book that’s due tomorrow. I finished it about midnight last night. It was a bear to write but I think I’m happy about it. My beta reader is doing a drive-by read, my editor is doing a drive-by edit, and then I’ll fix and format (add front and back matter) and ship it off. Still headdesking over the blurb. I hate writing blurbs!

    Hope you can stay cool!

Viki, the A/C guy can’t come until Wednesday afternoon. We decided to board Maggie for two nights, it’s too hot for her. Then as we were leaving to take her to boarding an hour ago, we saw a huge fire burning in the forest over the hills from us. So…not sure what’s going to happen. Maggie is safe though. Wizard and I can move faster this way.

Hope you get the break in temps!!

Oh and yes, I got to see Baby Slayer on Saturday too :-)

That is so cute with Hubs and Harrison playing T-Rex! I love that!

    Have a great evening!

Wow, Silver, congrats on getting the book done!! You’re amazing!!

Ugh on writing blurbs. I feel your pain!

Hope the beta reader and editor love the book, and formatting, etc, goes smoothly!

The excitement never ends here, a huge fire broke out in the forest over the hills from us. We’ve got Maggie in boarding, and we’re waiting to see what we have to do.

I swear that last two years is just unrelenting, LOL!

Wow! Wednesday afternoon ☹️. With the constant heat the AC companies are probably very busy. Hope you can find some relief.

That’s smart boarding Maggie. If you do have to leave quickly you’ll know Maggie is safe.

Thanks Viki. We boarded her originally since we’ll be gone a couple hours tomorrow in the worst of the heat. Dogs can get heat stroke so quickly, we thought this was best. But it’s turned out to be an even better decision than we realized. :-)
