Weekend Roundup

First on the agenda, my brother-in-law is having major surgery today, so please keep him in your thoughts. I plan to spend most of the day at the hospital, or doing whatever is needed. Wizard is splitting his time between Maggie and the hospital so I don’t have to worry about her, that’s a huge help.

Now for the weekend. Friday, Maggie had her follow-up shots, and no reaction. Yay! They had me pre-treat her with a half a Benadryl and that seemed to do the trick. Later that day, Wizard and I went to see A STAR IS BORN. I loved it! I saw some brilliance in that movie. They only told the parts onscreen that the audience needed to see. I loved Bradley Cooper’s performance, but it was Lady Gaga who surprised me with her ability to capture the character she played. There were so many character layers they showed through action but didn’t beat the audience over the head with it…I loved just loved the movie. Wizard really liked it too.

Saturday, various things were going on, then I met a friend for lunch. This is a fan I met online years ago, then met in person at a conference, and we just kept in touch. Anyway this friend wanted to donate to my daughter in law’s Homeless Christmas Gift Bags that she does most years. So we met for lunch and I picked up her donation. Holy Generosity!!! Her donation filled my huge trunk and part of my backseat! Full-sized bars of soap, toothpaste, cup of noodles, canned ravioli, it’s amazing! I didn’t ask her if she wanted to be identified, so I’m not revealing who it is, but WOW!!! Both myself, and my daughter in law, are so appreciative. I was so touched, and it was a great a reminder of how many special, wonderful people there are in the world. If anyone else would like to donate, here is the GoFundMe Link I usually give her cash directly to save fees.

Sunday, I repacked the donated items into boxes to store them, and to make it easier for my son to pick them up later. I have more room to store them than they do right now. I also worked on my new phone, there’s a lot to learn but it’s a lot easier than I expected. I will have it where I want it by the time I have surgery. I already have my audiobooks on there :-)

I want so much to finish Savaged Devotion and the Wing Slayers. I remind myself daily (hourly if I have time, LOL) that the surgery is soon, and once I’m recovered enough to work, there’ll be no stopping me!

That was my weekend. How was yours?

Positive thoughts winging their way to your brother in law. How awesome about your fan turned friend. That’s so cool. And cool about the donations, too! I’m glad you’re getting your new phone sorted out. And yes, leave the writing until after you’ve recovered. But make sure you take notes when the good ideas come through.

Once again, the weekend was bland. I watched some stuff, read some stuff, and did some stuff. I went fishing on Friday, for the first time in weeks. It was fun. And I have a fish in the freezer. Been a while since that happened. Got some gardening/landscaping done, but then my tired muscles caught up with me and I sat around all day yesterday. I think I need to entirely rework what I’ve already written for Ugly and the Beast. Not looking forward to that, but I have time because my edits are due back today and I’ll be hammering away at those for a couple weeks at least.

Holding and sending all good thoughts to your BiL and family! Fan-friends are the best and how generous of her! Glad you’re enjoying the new phone and yay on Maggie being all good. Yay for audio books and yes, you WILL get all that writing done once you are back on your feet!!!

My weekend was drizzley, cool, and then down-right cold. Baseball Boy was in Philadelphia for a school thing so Only had to coach the soccer team. Only 5 showed up which was fine because only 5 showed up on the other team. Everyone agreed to shortened quarters. JGG scored for the other team. Only and I said it was his highly-developed sense of fair play because Team C was up 10-0 over Team J. That’s our story and we’re sticking to it.

Yesterday, with the cold front barreling through, I ran the vacuum and then stripped out the bedding and switched from summer to winter linens/comforter. And I vegged. The good news is, I think I’ve figured out the block on current revisions. I’ll start cutting and pasting today. Crossing fingers it comes together. Once I get this done, the blocks on my other WIPs should fall and I can actually get work done!

I’ll be thinking of you and your BiL throughout the day. *HUGS*

I’ve been keeping your BIL in my thoughts and prayers all day. I pray all has gone well. Wizard is a great guy. Taking care of Maggie so you can be at the hospital all day is one special guy :).

Glad you enjoyed the movie. I think I’d like it too but there is no way hubs would go :(.

WOW what a boon for DIL’s Homeless Christmas Gift Bags :)! How sweet of your friend. Her kindness will be so greatly appreciated.

Harrison’s birthday party was a hoot. He never napped and was a busy boy. When it came to cake – not a big fan at first. He didn’t like it on his hands. Presents went well until he opened a big truck :). The truck was all he wanted. We all left and he still never went to sleep. His parents finally got him down after 10 and they were pooped!

Keeping you in my thoughts. All good vibes sent your way!

A quick check in to tell you all my BIL came through the six hour surgery and is doing as well as we hoped right now. I’ll try to answer individually later, but wanted to thank you all for your good thoughts! It really helps!
